Re: Jersey City Teacher Facts

I'm sorry, but I've worked both in the "private" sector and in teaching. Teaching is waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy easier. The first few years are tough. But after you've gotten the hang of things and know how to handle kids, it becomes so much easier. In fact, it becomes so repetitive and almost boring. Your numbers are off on salary. You must know that it's extremely difficult to fire a tenured teacher. It is possible, but is really really hard and costs the district in the hundreds of thousands in legal fees and suspension pay to actually follow through.

Many teachers are competent and professional. But so many suck horribly and count down the minutes daily until the bell rings. What allows them to drift by? Tenure.

What shocks me is that people are surprised that things worked out this way. We are living in one of the most corrupt cities in one of the most corrupt counties, in a fairly corrupt state. Nothing will change for quite some time....if ever. you have no friends on the board of ed...unless you have cash. don't be so naive

I think this opens today. I give it a year max. There's no Thai community here, so you can't have a good Thai restaurant

Hey, I forgot who said that the VV dog run doesn't stink. It does! I went by there the other day, when it was hot and humid and it smelled horribly....like urine and poop. I don't know what you people were talking about?

So, what's everyone voting for? If you live in the condos on 9th St and anything but plan D is voted for, the value of your condo will plummet since you will have the pleasant aroma of dog pi$$ coming through your window 24/7. If the plan with the putting green passes, you get to anticipate a golf ball coming through your expensive front windows. Are any of the plans any good?
