In need of Cat Rescue or Cat Shelter
#1

We have a Cat who has decided our backyard is her new home. We unfortunately can't keep her, and it looks like she has recently been in a cat fight.

Anyone know of a shelter or cat rescue in jersey city/heights area of whom I can contact.

I would really like to find a place for her to go, to a Shelter or Cat Rescue. Please help or point me in the right direction, any help anyone can share is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I am wondering if it's ok to put furniture out on the street for trash pick up? I have a couch and chair which I need to get rid of. They are worn out and not worth selling.
Thanks for all your help and input.

Hi All,

I wanted to share this with you, if you are around Jersey City Heights area, there is a new Gallery and ArtSpace which has opened up on Hutton Avenue. It happens to be right around the corner from my house, so I wanted to drop a line to the folks on this site to share and help promote the Gallery.

Re: Who here really, really hates Comcast?

I don't necessarily "Hate" them, because we have had good service with Comcast, however, after coming off a two year price deal we had with them, and to discover they don't offer the same deal, so we had to pay more for the same service, I have decided its time to leave comcast service.

The funny thing is, when I called to cancel, they asked why (which I expected) and I said it was due to the pricing. The woman on the phone was shocked, that I found a better price than what they are offering. She looked to see if there was "some magic" she could pull and get me a cheaper price, but alas... no. She actually quoted me something more than what I had already been paying. I laughed.

So, it's on too new and better things!

So long farewell, auf weidersehen adieu...Comcast!

Good day all. I wanted to know if anyone here has had any experience, Good or Bad with Verizon Fio's service.

I have just about had it with Comcast, and they are now raising my service again, we pay close to 200/month for Cable, Internet and phone service.

So, I've been researching Verizon Fio's and wanted to see if anyone in the area has had any experinces or has reviews of the service.

Heights fella here, and thanks in advance for your help.

Peace

Re: Stolen Trashcans

It's funny, I wanted to come see if anyone else here had put a post regarding trash cans being stolen, and low and be hold there is a listing. This is the third time since my sister and I have moved into our home on New York avenue. Our trash cans have been stolen twice and now our good recycle bins were stolen last night. I have put our address on all bins, but these were still stolen.
Anyone have any suggestions that I can do that will help keep my next cans from being stolen?

Re: JC Heights- Congress St. Area

Hey there, I live in the heights. I don't know if I can answer all your questions, but hopefully I can give you some help. I have lived in the heights for about 2 years now. I recently purchased a house with my sister on New York Avenue.

As for restaurants in the area, there are some. It's more of a "local" fair of restaurants around. Nothing like Hoboken or downtown jersey city, but it is getting better day by day. As for nightlife, I haven't gone out in the heights yet. But there is a bar that I want to try that?s called the corkscrew, and I believe it is on Congress Street. From what I hear it?s a good place, but I just haven't been there to check it out yet. Other places, well I haven't really found any yet, but I also have not looked that much.

To get to the Journal Square Path train, there are a few buses around. The 87 that runs on Palisade (from Hoboken) goes to journal square. And I believe there is a bus that runs along Central Avenue that goes there as well. And there is the Jitney Bus or Immi Bus or mini bus (all the same bus, just different names.) this one goes to the back side of journal square, not directly to the station.

I work in the city, I commute via the path train, what my sister and I do is take the 87 (pick up on Palisade) and that takes you directly to the Hoboken path/train/bus station. If you are on Congress, you can also walk over the 9th street elevator, take that down to the back of Hoboken and that will put you right at the 9th street light rail station, where you can also take that directly to Hoboken.

I don't have a car, but I have rented and been in other's cars. And to my knowledge, it's pretty easy to get around to the turnpike as well as other major roads.

As for homes, I'm not sure, but when we were looking to purchase a house, we found a good deal of homes, condos and multi family units. We wanted a home, so we didn't focus on the others, but there seems to be a lot of remodeling around the neighborhood lately... so I'm sure you would be able to find the type your looking for.

So, there's some answers or help for you. Hope this helps. I really like the heights area. I lived downtown jersey city for 5 years, and then moved to the heights. I thought it was going to be a major change, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. I actually quit like it. Its has a very neighborhood feeling.

Hi everyone- I've been noticing a lot of posts on the board about the Congress St. area of the Heights. I'm considering relocating within JC and I'd love to get more information on the area.

1. Are there a lot of restaurants in the area?
2. What's around in terms of nightlife?
3. How far is it to the Journal Square Path Station?
4. Is it fairly easy to get to the turnpike from here?
5. Is the area mostly composed of condo units or are there any single and multi-family houses?
6. How's the area surrounding Washington Park?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Home Inspection

My sister and I recently purchased our first home in Jersey City. No more renting! Yeah. I'm wondering if anyone here could recommend a good, reputable home inspector. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Any other suggestions anyone might have regarding Jersey City and our new home would be great. I have lived here since 2000, but as a renter. I don?t know if there are any special interests that I should know about.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated! Thanks.
