On Sunday, August 6, 2017, the Riverview Farmers Market will take part in the statewide Perfect Peach Pie Contest organized by the New Jersey Peach Promotion Council.

All participants in the Perfect Peach Pie Contest must be New Jersey residents, must be amateur bakers, and must use New Jersey peaches. Participants can submit a home-baked peach pie or peach cobbler; no other dishes will be accepted.

To register, interested participants can e-mail farmsintheheights@gmail.com. A registration form can be downloaded at the Riverview Farmers Market website (http://www.riverviewfarmersmarket.org). Participants can also submit their entries at the Market?s registration table. The preferred submission deadline is 11:30. No entries will be accepted after 12:00 noon.

Juding will begin at noon and prizes (donated by local businesses and event sponsors) will be awarded to the contest winners at 1:00.

Market visitors will have an opportunity to sample the pies after prizes have been awarded.

The first-place winner will have the opportunity to take a second version of their winning entry to a final judging site (to be announced at a later date) for 2 grand prizes: one in south/central Jersey; the other in north/central Jersey.

Additional programming for the Peachy Party will include peach-themed events and activities for adults and children, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Market vendors will be offering special peach-themed items for the day.

There will be free musical performances by Summer ?66 at 12:30 and by The Sensational Country Blues Wonders at 2:00. Both acts appear as part of this year?s Music in the Park series.

The Riverview Farmers Market is held every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Riverview-Fisk Park, located at Palisade Avenue between Bowers and Griffith Streets. It is organized by local non-profit organization Farms in the Heights.

The New Jersey Peach Promotion Council is a non-profit voluntary organization of growers, shippers, wholesalers and associated industries dedicated to maintaining a viable peach industry in the Garden State for the purpose of preserving farmers and farmland; and providing the highest quality and best tasting fresh peaches for consumers. 12:30 PM: Indian dance variety workshop, including classical, folk, fusion and Bollywood

2:00 PM: Indian classical vocals, including Hindustani vocals and rhythm with tabla
