Half million dollars in Fulop's campaign chest is a little overstated... he has about $360,000 right now of which $100,000 is his own money that he loaned to his campaign. That's from his most recent election report from 10/18/2011. It's got $560,000 in total contributions before $200,000 in expenses are listed, leaving him a balance of $360,000.

Also interesting to see that one of his expenditures in Schedule D was a donation to Senator Menendez for Reelection campaign fund. The good senator doesn't strike me as a role model for transparent government, so it's interesting to see Fulop supporting him.

I don't think Fulop is backing anyone in this race. I saw him at a Boggiano fundraiser a couple weeks back and it sounds like he's been at others. The vote on this one is going to be split so many ways its hard to tell who will win and I don't think he wants to risk putting his name behind someone who might lose because of the perception it would have going into the 2013 mayors election. I'm sure he has a handful of candidates he'd like to see win but doesn't have enough confidence in the outcome of the election to tie himself to any of them.
