Re: Need good vet downtown.

Another +1 for Metrovet. My pup goes to Club Barks for daycare a couple times a week and its nice to have a vet onsite. And people aren't overhyping Dr. Girard. She's that good. My experiences at Downtown Vet were always hit or miss dependent upon the vet I got so its nice to have a dedicated vet.

I've started bringing my dog to Club Barks (affiiliated w Metro Vet) over the last couple of months due to the price increases at K9sergarten. CB is much, much cheaper (22 bucks a day) and my dog doesn't seem to mind. I also like the fact that there is a vet on site if there ever were an issue while in doggie daycare.

Since going there, I have had the chance to meet w theMetroVet docs and they seem knowledgable and very friendly. I haven't had a chance to use them yet but probably will next time I need vet services. I can't speak to the price differences though with Downtown Vets and currently I only think they have office hours on Mon/Wed//fri.

First off, the cake truffles are out of this world good. Last year, the owner (I believe her name is Jess) would only do Hamilton Parks farmers market. I went out of my way to be there every Wednesday for my truffles. Now that she's at VV and Grove St (on Thursday), I'm already anticipating significant weight gain this summer. But they're damn good.

I asked her recently about the storefront and she mentioned they were getting towards the finish line. Sounded like it would only be a few weeks (and I asked a couple weeks back).

She'll do we'll when they finally do open up.

My personal faves:

Abbondanza (Grand St) - surprised this place doesn't get more props

VB3 (but not from the pizza parlor side, the restaurant side only)

Roman Nose -- really good brick oven

Its been open only a couple of weeks and I've been in 4 times, twice for dinner and 2 for the brick oven. The Brick Oven is on the right side as you walk in and the dining room on the left side. Overall, really love the place. Service was good for the most part and the food (I've had chicken parm and lasagne) is excellent. And the brick oven pizza is easily the best pizza in JC. Great addition to the Lib Harbor neighborhood
