I think Tommy has a really distorted perception of:

1. How difficult it is for a new bar/restaurant business starting up to turn a profit, in even a good economy, let alone this one;

2. The average income/ethnicity of the downtown jersey city population;

3. Posturing aside, how much sleep he'll truly lose when the lower income earning ethnic population of downtown JC moves out to those "other" parts of JC he has hardly ever driven through.

Did i miss anything?

There's only one "E" in the word "judgment".

Re: Jersey City councilman wants more parking Downtown

If the proposal was to flatten some buildings to create surface parking, I'd get the outrage. But it sounds like what's on the table is to open up an already existing parking lot for use as a municipal lot, in an area adjacent to lots of commercial establishments. While the real estate market remains soft, it's not a bad idea, and the market will dictate if/when the property will make more sense as something else. In the interim, I'll take the word of an actual Newark Avenue business owner over the armchair urban planning intelligentsia.

Chill out, people. And save the heavy-handed Times Square comparisons. Jersey City will never be Manhattan. No matter what your realtor told you.

Wow - what if the guy just happens to keep a safe in his house and he had someone in to do work who happened to see the safe? How do you so quickly jump to "drug dealer" or "thug" when you don't know much of anything? Lots of people have safes in their homes and for all you know the guy owns a legal cash business and doesn't want to (or can't) go to the bank every day.

Please don't interfere with the rocking back and forth and chanting "this doesn't happen downtown" that pathological folks on this website need to do...

It's actually the County Prosecutor's office (not the District Attorney, that's a NY thing). But you might also want to reach out to somebody at the State Office of Attorney General. Towing practices have been under a lot of scrutiny lately.

What's great is the lady who took it upon herself to post a hit-and-run to harm a local business, (but won't say why) at noon on the day the business is closed (ooooh, how long was it burning up inside?), thinks i'm the one getting "spun up."

Attitude isn't the only thing she's good at projecting.

Not so fast. WNBC's rolling graphic listing all the counties in the metro area is missing one. Guess which one?

Got a link for that? Can't find it on their website.

At the rate they're going? I'll take our 5 years of weekly experiences with them over your 3 transactions. And if your attitude in person is half as unpleasant as it appears from your internet histrionics, I think folks can easily do the math on which account is a more representative sampling.

But by all means pat yourself on the back for unleashing your vendetta against a local dry cleaner. You're certainly in the right place for it. You go, girl.

1. It's "Y&S" Cleaners, not "YES". R.I.F.

2. We've been using them for dry cleaning and minor tailoring/alterations for about 5 years or so. We are a high volume household as far as dry cleaning goes, spending a good couple hundred bucks a month on shirts being washed/pressed and suits/delicate fabrics being dry cleaned.

3. They are courteous, pleasant, and professional. Never once have we experienced an attitude. 95% of the time it's the Korean woman we deal with, and she is always friendly, knows our name, and accommodates our schedule. Can't ever say the Korean guy (her husband?) has ever copped an attitude, though he's certainly less outgoing than the lady.

4. We don't typically price compare, so for all we know they very well may be more expensive than local competitors, but we've been more than satisfied with their service. On the few occasions we've had complaints, they've addressed them professionally, to our satisfaction, and free of charge.

5. Our only real complaint is that they are closed on Sundays and Mondays, which can make coordinating the timing more difficult. But they're a local mom and pop establishment, so I don't begrudge them 2 days off, particularly since they are more than willing to work with your schedule and turn things around in a day when needed.

Take as many swipes at me for registering to defend them as you want. I'm just a loyal customer (and neighbor) who is sick of seeing people throw unsubstantiated hissy fits on websites like this one. Zick's bad day can translate into real harm to a local business that absolutely doesn't deserve it.
