Wow!!!

This blowhard is always chirping away on FB about politicians this and politicians that, and he turns out to be just as corrupted as those he berates.

I hope he abandons his intentions to run for Ward F Council.

What a joke!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of Sean Connors, why did he keep talking about transparency last night, when I am told his girlfriend, who is a school employee, was just given a promotion by Epps.

Is this the transparency he was referring to?

JP,
Points understood but word on the street is that Epps doesn"t have a contract right now. This is what makes the Fulop backed board members questionable in their braggadoshish boasts of ridding us of Epps now in oppose to later. One member, unidentified, was also quoted in the July 11th article, saying "Epps is on his way out" Right or wrong, many believed that these candidates, now board members, would deliver on this campaign promise when possible. Well, it seems possible now, so again....what happened?

Same question goes to Fulop, who backed them.

Also, a nat'l search can always coincide with Epp's termination and I would imagine that there is a second or someone who can step right in, successfully or not, until an effective replacement has been found. So, getting him out now, should not be a problem. Keeping him any longer....may very well be.

A July 11th article from the JJ stated that Epps MAY be leaving??. It even quotes the board president as saying that they are negotiating and don't want to throw him out, by 2012.

NEGOTIATING????? 2012???? How nice of them!!

In this past election, I don't remember the Fulop backed candidates such as Adames and Harrison-Arnold say that they wanted to NEGOTIATE Epp's release. Heck, they ran on getting him out....like immediately. Wasn't there a quote in one of the papers on the day of their victory, saying "Epps, you're out".

I have one question.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Seems like that was all talk to me. Fulop and his folks have been talking about getting rid of Epps for the longest. He has backed several candidates and supposedly has the majority now, yet Epps is still alive and kicking as usual, with no end date in sight. This guy is Teflon.

The Fulop backed candidates, now board members are apparently future good politicians. Promises, promises!

And someone, perhaps the future mayor, can't seem to deliver.

Next??

I am no fan of Mr. Fulops or those he backed in the school board election. But I must admit that the education forum was no political rally for Mr. Fulop or anyone else.
I appreciate that someone on the board is taking education serious enough to try and do something about it.

Rather than criticize a great idea, join in and help find solutions.

The author (Jeannie Pagano) is apparently a wacko and wants more of the status quo

Would someone please tell me why Sean Connors is still on the school board? Why hasn't he been asked to resign NOW. He has literally done nothing in the two years he was elected except prepare for his next election ( for Assembly? Council? Mayor? class clown?, etc)

Also, please tell me how the hell is he now qualified to run for the Assembly? What the f--- has he done?

What a disgrace. Only in JC!!!

Someone please tell Ms. Gangadin and her team that Mr. Fulop and his team do not think she can or will win as said by someone who calls themselves "whatwhat" mentioned on another post.
They seem to think a vote for Ms. Gangadin is a wasted vote.
Though I was not voting for Ms. Gangadin, I will now, just not to see another politically back candidate/puppet get in.

Vote Nabil Youssef 6a & Vidya Gangadin 7a. Independent, already public school advocates and with no strings attached.

(sound of hands clapping-applause)

Mr. Fulop and his team,
I'm honored that Mr. Mayor to be took time to respond.
Apparently someone has gotten your goat. If it quacks like and duck and walks like a duck, guess what....it is a DUCK (or political machine)

When you put out as much money as you have on boe candidates past and present, one can best believe you are not doing it solely because you have a good heart or because you are concerned. (selling a bridge-any buyers?)

If you are really so concerned, try raising the same money or more for after school programs in ward f and other wards not so fortunate as your precious ward e.

2a x 5a = 10a or 3 more puppets to add to your other 2 for a grand total of 5 puppets.

Vote Nabil Youssef 6a. No strings attached :)

BrightMoment,
Excuse the delay in my response. I apparently didnt see your post till now.

First, I appreciate your response and don't want to disparage anyone including your candidates, but let's be honest and put things in perspective.

Mr Fulop is not only supporting his candidates, he is backing them with loads of money. I recently saw a commercial for your boe candidates. Are you kidding? Who has ever done a commercial? Are you honestly saying that the candidates have paid for this themselves?

Have they raised any monies? Mailings, phone banks, literature, commercials no doubt provided by Mr. Fulop.

So my question to you is when the time comes for a crucial vote by your candidates, if elected, (and past candidates on the board) are we to believe it's not going to be as Mr. Fulop dictates, especially after he is paying for their very candidacy, in full?

This is the making of a political machine, probably not too soon, much different from Healy's.

Below are excerpts from an interview of questions the JCI posed to Mr. Youssef. Oh, how so true!!!

What is your opinion of Jersey City?s teachers union? Do you believe that it helps Jersey City?s children receive a better standard of education? Please explain.

The JCEA leaders are all about politics. They do not help the student in Jersey City, they help themselves. Look at me as an example. I?m currently a JCEA member and I pay my dues. I?m current running for the JCBOE election as a candidate. Do you think the JCEA leaders came out to give me any support or an endorsement, as one of them? The answer is no. I represent the voice of the students and parents and the hard working teacher, but JCEA leaders choose to support Ward E councilman Steven Fulop?s ticket, which he had endorsed in February 18, 2011. The deadline for filing a nomination was on March 8, but both ignored any other candidates running for elections because they have their own political agenda. Altogether it is not about students or teachers or community, it is about their interest. My point is that I was never offered an interview and was not even contacted by any of the JCEA leaders or Mr. Fulop, and this also happened to the other six candidates.

So, my question is: Is this an equal opportunity situation? Where are the morals for an equal opportunity selection of due process in this election, where each candidate is given the opportunity to share their ideas before any endorsement is made? JCEA leaders and Mr. Fulop just jumped ahead of the process, what a shame for the future of a man who will be running to be our mayor in 2013. It is a childish, premature political move and decision for both, and I wish the media would take notice and publish their actions on only taking one side. Besides, the three candidates endorsed will use this move to further their political game and not the future of our children.

Can't understand why there isn't much being said about this guy? He is a teacher is this system and clearly understands the issues faced by the boe. He is also a parent of children who attend the public schools. He is also the most independent candidate running. What does this get him....obscurity, because all eyes have been on big machine backed candidates. His own union didn't interview him (nor 6 other candidates) After attending all but one debate and not liking any of the candidates for this reason or that, I admire this candidate the most. Again, he is currently teaching in this system and is willing to run and speak out against King Epps and his merry dimwits when no one else is that is either on the board or in the administration. This is ballsy. He doesn't have to remember speaking points that were rehearsed with a large team of politically connected people, he speaks from experience and from the heart. He didn't appear out of nowhere. He has been teaching in this system for 15 years. He will do the bidding of the children (including his own) and parents of this city.........ONLY. He doesn't bring a charter school or voucher agenda with him. He lives and breathes the traditional public school. He hasn't been a do nothing teacher for 15 years in this system, he has made a difference in the classroom.
Really, what more can you ask for?

2011 BOE Election - Nabil Youssef - Teacher for School Board

Not too shy to talk

Saving schools is my mission, writes Jersey City Board of Education candidate

By Letters to the Editor/The Jersey Journal The Jersey Journal
April 21, 2011, 6:01AM

I am honored to become one of the Jersey City Board of Education candidates for the April 27, 2011 elections. I am currently working in the education field for 18 years as a high school math teacher. Eleven of those years are invested in the Jersey City public school system. I earned my master's degree in math and education (GPA 3.97) and right now am looking to get started on my doctorate degree.

My children are high achievers, as well. I am also a parent of two children that attend the Jersey City public school system right now. So, I am teacher in the morning and a parent at night, which gives me the opportunity to see the classroom and homework dilemma.

Our current Jersey City public school system isn't able to achieve the result we seek as a community. The quality of the graduates needs to be improved from the current system. Many that graduated from high school went through the AHSA (Alternative High School Assessment) known before as the SRA (Special Review Assessment) for math and language arts. This means they failed to pass the HSPA (high school proficiency assessment) test in their first attempt to earn their high school diploma after their 11 years of enrollment. We as a community can not afford to continue seeing our children fail. Our children deserve a better education.

It is time for our voices to be heard and let the people of Jersey City decide their child's educational destiny. It is time for a real change in the system for new ideas and new faces. STOP saying "It is working," when the data and result of the state exams say the following: "In Jersey City, 28 schools out of 33 failed to meet AYP."

The district educates a student for 12 years (1-12 grades). It cost the state about $211,000 in the 12 years to earn a high school diploma -- the state pays about $17,600 a year/per student, 60 percent of that money comes from our Jersey City taxes. STOP it, enough is enough!

I've also been asked to run by many students, parents, and teachers. All of us share a main goal, saving public education.

By Implementing technology, new curriculums and helping to schedule students in the classroom according to their needs and strengths not according to there last names. Stop assuming that all students learn at the same pace or are on the same level.

If elected, I will make sure that the students, teachers, our community, and parents voices are heard. I know where are our needs and our strengths.

I am a candidate that is 100 percent independent. The only obligation I have is to students, parents and Jersey City taxpayers.

NABIL YOUSSEF, 6A
JERSEY CITY

Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

I got to this forum a little late last night and couldn't seem to get into this debate. Kid questioners was a nice touch but overall this left much to be desired.

My take:

Aury Nunez - She should cut her losses and just bow out of anymore debates (if there are any more). She is CLUELESS! She is so bad that her husband may not even vote for her.
Hiral Patel - UGH!
Amanda Khan - Who stole her mojo? The flame is now a flicker though she is more coherent.
Vidya Gangadin - She needs some PASSION. Where is the Wizard of Oz when you need him? could barely stay awake when she spoke.
Carol Arnold Harrison - She sounds tough and intimidating. Maybe she should be superintendent instead and whip some butt. Too bad she is part of a political machine.
Susan Mack - Is that make-over show still around? Didn't hear a word she said...was struggling just looking at her. Passed her prime and time.
Dr. Thompson - Didn't know muppets could look so angry. Another one past her prime and time.
Jason Burg - No longer scary to me... just sad. Looked and sounded very uncomfortable. .
Marvin Adames - Seems like a nice person. Somewhat green and also part of a machine. Maybe one day?
Nabil Youssef - Must admit he is intriguing. A teacher bashing Dr. Epps. For that alone, he gets some consideration.

PCUE BOE Candidate's Forum
#26
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

As a totally independent new JC resident and tax payer with no children, I decided to attend my first boe debate.

After reading several post here, in the newspapers and otherwise, I decided to get involved.

Here's my take on the forum:

Ms Mack seems to be a permanent fixture of the BOE and therefore seemly is part of the problem. Carol Harrison is a snoot who doesn't seem to represent anything in jc despite her bio. Marvin Adames is from Newark (nuff said) These 3 people are puppets of the Fulop machine whose focus is solely on downtown. They are out of touch with the average and common folks. Why do we need a political controlled boe???????
Amanda Khan sounds as if she is heading a revolution in a third world country. Too much banter and not enough substance. Besides, where the hell has she been.
Hiral Patel is apparently running again. Why??
Mr Youseff, the teacher, should be admired for running and he should be the most informed. The problem is, he didnt sound as such.
Fran Thompson looks like a sesame street character and should leave the board and go back to work with her fellow muppets. She is also apparently part of the problem.
Aury Nunez is wife of a teacher in Snyder. Her campaign will be as successful as that school is, as she sounded as if she knows absolutely nothing
Jayson Burg is scary
Vidya Gangadin is the parent of 4 children in public school and apparently has been in involved in public education as a member of this or that. Hooray, but she sounds like she's having a conversation with herself. She needs to be somewhere between herself and Ms. Khan.
This leaves me to say..........is anybody else running?............please!!!

Can't wait til the next debate :)
