Not to go off on a tangent but if the mayor didn't give out all of those tax abatements, perhaps we wouldn't be in this mess. I think it is time that all those people who are living property-tax free in this city, start paying for the services that they get from the city. There has to be a legal way to put through a special "assessment" on these properties. Hell, as the mayor has said, these are tough times. Everyone has to do their part.

Well, well, well Mr. Healy. You've finally did it. You have raised our taxes so much over the last couple of years and now, for what we pay in taxes, we get less for our money. Perhaps the fire department is next...oh, I forgot, your two sons are firemen. Guess that won't happen. Perhaps we should look at all those "need to know someone" jobs that have been given out since you have been in office. ....oh, I forgot, your political cronies have those jobs. Guess that won't happen. How about all those deputy mayors and the other political appointment jobs........oops, they're your friends. Guess that won't happen. Perhaps Mr. Mayor, and elected council persons should take a 10% pay cut across the board. God knows most of the council are double and even triple dipping with other city and/or county jobs. Come on elected officials, 10% isn't too much to give up. If that can keep more cops on the street, I think that would make all our citizens feel a little better.
