No fresh paint on 2, though the hallway looks pretty good, if not dark. More lights need to be installed. And they need to put up molding or whatever around the carpeting....

Thanks for the info. I will go there this week. I didn't think they would have any openings, per se. However, in my experience, it never hurts to drop off a resume and see what happens.

Jersey City Public Schools

Just can't stay away

Hello:

I am currently looking to apply to Jersey City Public Schools for a job as a school counselor. However, the district website doesn't have a list of open positions. Can any teachers or anyone who knows how the school system works offer some insight? I was considering going to the Administration building and dropping off a copy of my resume, but wasn't sure if that's the best option.

Thanks.

OK I am not talking about the business side of things. I am talking about the experience of eating a meal from a street cart. Very different. Food should be an experience, not a business transaction. And, as a local foodie of sorts, I always support local businesses that make food an experience, not a business proposition.

We can agree to disagree, ms. skin. ha.

Street Carts are a part of city life. Period. I didn't move out of the suburbs of NJ to Jersey City to have to always go into a restaurant, sit down, and eat. I moved here to experience life outside the norm, which for me, includes walking around the neighborhood, perhaps with a yummy taco I got in passing.

True, a penny saved is a penny earned. I guess I don't see what the big deal is, though between $5.00 and $6.00.

I suppose I am not a big eater, as three tacos are more than enough for me to be full.

IMO, $6.00 for 3 veggie tacos is a great deal. I stopped by the Cart last night on my way home, and thought, for street food, that the tacos were really good. I definitely plan on going back.

I like Tia's. I think the variety of price points they offer is refreshing, although I do wish they would carry more items in the "under $100" category. Still, a fun place to shop and browse.

That's the problem...the Regent is a great deal. We considered getting out of our lease, but for what we were looking for (luxe building, good area) this is the best bet for the $$. Hold tight. They will move you in soon, I'm sure. What floor are you supposed to be on?

OK, I have to put in my two cents. My husband and I moved in last Thursday. Has the situation been ideal? No. However, everyone we have worked with has been nothing but professional, helpful and has responded with a sense of urgency to any issue we have had in the unit. Is it noisy during the day, when they are doing construction? Of course. However, anyone who moved into the Regent HAD to know that construction would be ongoing.

I will agree that the street noise from the crowds leaving Zeppelin Hall have been a pain in the ass. However, it was a holiday weekend and drunken fools will be just that: drunken fools. If it gets bad, call the cops. Or better yet, email PM or the owner of Zeppelin Hall and ask them to station a bouncer or someone outside the front of our building to keep the noise down. There's always a solution. Complaining will only get you as far as these wall posts. Action usually causes a reaction.

We are staying at the Sutton free of charge. I did my walk through inspection tonight and everything, except for a few minor details (cleaning mostly) was great. They will have everything fixed before we move in tomorrow. The secret with PM is to call or email them incessantly. As my husband likes to say, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I am currently living temporarily in the Sutton. PM has been very good about keeping us in the loop on what's going on. The only crappy thing is that there is no parking on the streets. My husband and I went to the parking authority to get zoned parking permits, which one can't have living here, since the streets are yet to be made public, from what I understand.
In any case, we move into the Regent tomorrow, so what's done is done. Let's hope it only gets better from here!
