Mayor Healy, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH with VIOLENT CRIME in Jersey City. Stop your BS that crime is at a 30 year low and address the crime situation in Jersey City.

Do whatever needs to be done to get these violent criminals, drug dealers and gangs off the streets of Jersey City! Marshall Law, bring in the national guard, help our police.

You have yet to get serious about the crime issue in Jersey City since you have become Mayor. You keep going around telling us crime is down. Well it's not so again stop the BS and institute a crime policy towards cleaning up our streets and making them safe.

Re: City Council Votes To Limit Reintroduction Of Failed Measures

It's funny that they say any Jersey City council members barred from reintroducing failed measures for 6 months.

What measures/solutions has any of the Team Healy council members introduce for the benefit of the Jersey City residents?

It is a shame the the Healy Council members never attempt to present solutions for the benefit of the Jersey City residents, especially for those home owners that might lose those homes such as Senior Citizens due to poor decisions they have made over the years and the budget crisis Jersey City now faces.

The only thing they want to do is tax the hell out of the residents as Team Healy use city hall as their own ATM.

At least Councilman Fulop offered up a Tax Relief Plan. Maybe it was not perfect, but Team Healy did not even consider working together on the plan towards a solution that would benefit the residents.

Healy and his council have failed the Jersey City residents!

Except for Fulop, there is no other person on that City Council worthy of a $90,000 salary.

Does the Healy council really think we would believe they would work any harder.

If by 2013 the City Council job does go to full time with a salary such as $90,000 and the incompetent Healy Council is re-elected then the Jersey City residents need to have their heads examined.

In addition Healy is not worth the salary he is receiving.

YES, YES, YES NEW PEOPLE ...Please Attend!!!!! Let's not stop now..Healy and his gang failure's have been exposed.

We got to stay in their face and let them know the residents have finally started to rise up and will continue as we are now very well aware that they have failed the residents of Jersey City.

With the warm weather approaching we can hold rallies, such as recall rallies at City Hall with food and music, give people a reason to attend.

Just saw News 12, they did a nice job. It is great to see the Healy Team Council being exposed for failing the residents of Jersey City.

Because of the poor decisions made by the Team Healy Council Jersey City we are mired in this current budget crisis.

The Team Healy council has treated Jersey City like their own ATM and now wants to place hardship on the residents of Jersey City with unacceptable tax increases.

Starting from the last City Council meeting you can see that Jersey City Residents have begun to Rise Up as Mayor Healy and his Captive Council have been exposed on how they have failed the residents of Jersey City along with Team Healy going about their business with a sense of entitlement mentality.

We cannot fade away we must continue to mobilize across Jersey City and explore every method possible to remove Team Healy out of office.

While you are correct we need to get people to come out and vote and it was a poor election turnout, we have to start somewhere.

We are working to mobilize people across Jersey City and have to start somewhere. Getting people to finally unite and come to council meetings is a start. From there we need people to come out and vote. Unless we continue to mobilize people across Jersey City as we are currently doing we would have poor voter turnout.

Let's continue to work to develop residents interest, and get them out to vote. We can start with the Board of Education election, then the special election for David Donnelly Council Seat and most likely Vega's and if the FBI get Healy one of these days, we can change the balance of power in JC.

Quote:

whospeaksforyou wrote:
You're not going to run anything until you get people to the polls.

There is an election April 20th for the Board of Education. Their budget is over $600 million. Some of which is paid from our property taxes.

You want to run this town? Don't just go to the Council meeting. Organize your supporters there into a GOTV operation for April 20th. The Council doesn't care about a bunch of people yelling and screaming. But a bunch of people yelling and screaming who then go out and swing an election away from the incumbents is something they will both notice AND be forced to act upon.

You have to threaten them where they live. Show them you can boo and hiss and they will ignore you. Show them you can win an election and they will fear you. And maybe things will start to change around here.

PS -- The winning candidates last year each got less than 3000 votes.

Thug stabs Jersey City resident taking out trash in early morning

A Jersey City man was stabbed while taking out the trash from his Greenville home early yesterday morning, not far from where two men were shot dead last week, police said.

The 34-year-old Woodlawn Avenue man told police he was taking the garbage out at 1:20 a.m. when a man approached him saying "Who you looking at, (expletive)?" reports said.

The man took a swing at him, punching him in the left upper arm before running away, reports said. It was only then that the victim felt a sharp pain in the area of his right triceps and saw blood running from a wound there, reports said.

The victim went to the Jersey City Medical Center, where doctors said he had a 1-inch puncture wound, reports said. Police went to the Medical Center and spoke to the victim, who was listed in stable condition, reports said.

On Feb. 2, Mileak Richardson and Lester Thompson were found shot dead on Woodlawn Avenue about a block from yesterday morning's stabbing incident.

Not sure some of them are competent enough to use email. Flood would probably fall asleep at the computer.
Gaughan once said when a resident mentioned they sent him an email, that he did not use email and email was for yuppies.
Not sure Brennan is sharp enough to use email either.
Lopez might be able to use email, but most likely would need a manual of instructions, sort of like the manual she used during the campaign debates, reading line for line from it never looking at the people in audience.

How embarrassing that this is some of the make up of our City Council.

Re: Ready to give up living in this city...

Well Said CapnJon ...., like you I looked into moving elsewhere such as the suburbs, but knew with working in NYC and working monster hours, I would hate the commute. I then looked into Hoboken, while I have spent time going out in Hoboken, just not crazy about that town, it lost it's grittiness and diversity. JC has plenty of diversity and history too. While we do have our issues and I have shouted about them many times, issues that I believe we will overcome as more residents get involved as they showed at the last City Council meeting.
Don't give up on Jersey City, giving up is always the easiest thing to do, help make a difference in JC. I hope you can stick it out.

the people who try to paint the rosy picture of what JC used to be are a tad delusional. it's always been gritty, rough, working-class, and full of corruption in government. as much as some people around here would like to try and portray it as a new phenomenon, it is NOT a new thing. does that make it right? of course not, and i'm not saying it should be ignored.

as a few people have mentioned, downtown does have tons more short-term types who may not care about the process. jersey city is such a huge city, and the concerns of all the other wards are so different than downtown's concerns, that it should be easy to see why some old-timers get cranky at the demands of the downtowners. and even though lots of people on this list hate the current administration, the bottom line is, they were voted into office. period. if you want to vote them out, go for it, but it takes people getting involved, and not just yelling at each other on a message board.

having said all that, we love it here. we looked in the suburbs years ago when we were stopping renting and looking to buy... sure, we would've loved to move to Montclair, but we couldnt afford those taxes (which are still worse than ours), and the commute would've been twice as long. our neighborhood was pretty sketchy when we moved in, but the police were great (and other departments in the city), and through active people on our block, we got rid of the scumbags, drug dealers and gangsters. easy? no. scary? at times. worth it for everyone to try and stick through it? not necessarily. my wife and i are both pretty stubborn, and we weren't going to let scumbags ruin our life. our neighbors who moved in shortly after us, couldn't take it and left.

would we like things to be better here? of course, which is why we participate in the voting process, and community activities. and i would love if someone like mike bloomberg came to run the place...

your jersey city can be great if you make it that way!
