I agree totally, alot of the "New Yorker" families who are being brought into the area by developers would probably be better off in West Orange, New Brunswick, or Parsipanny than Jersey City, and I feel they are tricked into moving to Jersey City, because this City is often misrepresented as a "suburb".
Especially since many young people have been priced right out of downtown to Journal Square, and will be forced to move to Newark in a couple of years unless the rents stop soaring.

Newark's dying for it.

I don't know that anyone thinks that JC is a suburb. I really have never met anyone who thinks that.

I like this message board, but honestly, how is this really a good way for the JCPD to connect with the community. There is basically the same 20 people or so that post on this message board. I am not sure about the exact population of Jersey City, but I am sure it larger than that. I can understand why they dont take time to post on this message board. I think that the community organization meetings are a better place for the JCPD to interact with the community.

Certainly I think the people that read this board outnumber the people that attend community meetings on a regular basis. There is a core group of serial posters, sure - but the number of people who read and don't post or read and don't post that often is probably pretty huge.

I understand that not everyone uses a computer so community meeting are still important. But If you're looking to spread good information (or rumors or heresay, unfortunately) or keep in touch with people in the community, I can't think of a better way to do it than this list. And no, Webfalcon did not pay me to say that.

Admittedly.

Especially now that I've actually read the Journal article and seen photos of the interior.

As a renter, I'm just paranoid about this stuff.

His art got him into the Jersey Journal, which is read by plenty of people who neither know nor care very much about art, performance or otherwise.

Of course he's not going to get it. But things are so f---king crazy now that there are stupid people who think he MIGHT. We have people posting here saying things like "I'm from Omaha, Nebraska. I was just offered a job in NYC so I'm looking for a place. Do you think it's possible for me to find an studio apartment in Jersey City for less that 2500.00 a month? Because I'd like to keep it under that, thanks."

It's like people who have a beat-to-death copy of some Beatles or Elvis album, who read an article in some newspaper about how Beatles records are worth a ton of money, and then put an ad i someplace offering their copy of Meet The Beatles which is worth in reality about 3 bucks for $200.00.

I've driven past that property many times, and even after seeing the photos of the interior, I still don't agree that it's worth $8.9M. And because it's still on the market, I would think that the market doesn't think it's worth that much, either.

Here is the listing, and a photo of the exterior (more photos in the listing):

This is an absolute shock. I lived in Mrs. Skupian's building for about two years, so I know very well what a kind soul and sweet lady she truly was. I will never pass that corner again without thinking of her outside sweeping the sidewalk, tending to her beautiful garden and keeping a watchful eye on the neighborhood. The fact that it happened so suddenly and in such a senseless way is what shocks me the most. I add my heartfelt condolences to her entire family.

She will be missed by all who knew her. God bless.
