I brought beer and was not charged a corkage fee. But I also opened the beer myself and drank straight from the bottle.

They've got the best quality food in JC at the moment. Hopefully they maintain the standards and service. I'll be a regular if they do. It's great to have a real classy cured meat joint in downtown.

They sell guac, but you have to mash it yourself. Just ask for a side avocado and a side of their home made hot sauce and stick a fork in it.

In my opinion they've gotten much nicer and happier over the years. The Mexican staff is especially nice. I saw them kick a girl and her mom out of a 4 person table a couple weeks ago, but they did it with a smile.

They've got good tacos. They'll do just fine in the village.

Regardless of conspiracies that may or may not have gotten us into this situation, we can not sit back and let the TSA fondle our privates for refusing to go through a potentially dangerous and privacy invading machine that does nothing to enhance our overall safety.

Please call New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg's office, and ask to speak with an aide about these new "enhanced pat-downs".

Frank is the Chair of the Homeland Security Appropriations Committee and can actually do something about this.

His number in Washington is 202-224-3224.

The principles remain the same.

Vig, you are obviously a totalitarian at heart. I cannot expect you to see reason in this matter, but I can expect you to understand that this will not stop terrorists from attacking us.

The terrorists will use another method, find another weakness, and strike in a new and improved way.

They will always succeed in their mission as long as people like you respond with terror, freaking out, changing your lifestyle and enacting ridiculous countermeasures for imaginary scenarios.

Bin Laden is in a cave somewhere watching TSA agents on CNN grabbing old white guy crotches and little girls' teddy bears, and do you know what he's thinking? Mission Accomplished.

What they're doing is unethical and a good example of the kind of behavior we'd be in for if Spectra gets a foothold in Jersey City.

Surely you jest. Who would put a halfway house/methadone clinic right next door to a liquor store? Are you talking about this place?

"One of the reasons I'm recommending we do the merger into JCIA and keep the Incinerator Authority alive when we do that, (is because) we will not be restricted or somewhat burdened by the labyrinthine regulations of the Civil Service code," Healy said.

Regulations designed to prevent thieves from raiding our coffers.

The Embankment is a protected historic structure and transportation corridor that belongs to the people of Jersey City. It has great value to the history and future of Jersey City.

It will not be torn down.

Hyman's just a temporary caretaker but he is not taking care of it.

Some of the past JCList experiences with Michael Razzoli:

http://jclist.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=20458

I hope they hurt him personally as much as possible, and not the taxpayers.

These scumbags need to be personally held accountable and sent to jail, have their pensions canceled and their ill-gotten gains confiscated.

Jersey City: Don't spend our tax dollars defending Razzoli. Throw him under the bus and fix the problem!

Re: Brennan Coffee House Concert Series in Jersey City - Anyone Ever Been?
Home away from home

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Brennan Coffee House" is run by Councilman Bill Gaughan's daughter, Eileen Gaughan, who gets free health insurance from the taxpayers of Jersey city because she's on the chair of the Municipal Utilities Authority.

So yes, it would be very interesting to see if they have to abide by the same rules that Made with Love, Gallery 58 and others must abide or fail by.

I'd be interested to see how tax dollars are being spent on the Brennan Coffee House as well. Is is self sufficient, or is Jersey City spending tons of money to bring in these artists to put on little shows for a bunch of cronies up in the courthouse?

If so, why are we spending money for the government to put on these performances in a courthouse when we have tons of venues all over Jersey City where private organizations could be putting on great shows if JC would simply stop crushing everyone that tried.

Maybe I'm totally wrong on this, but I'm highly suspicious.

Quote:

The Jersey Journal wrote:
"It is absolutely shameful in a time when the lowest level city employees were laid off, they grant health benefits to politically connected cronies that the taxpayers fund," Fulop said.
"Most of the City Council and administration clearly do not understand how they are hurting the regular taxpayers."

But Eileen Gaughan, chairwoman of the MUA, disagreed with Fulop and said commissioners are on call 24 hours a day to serve the public.

"Despite what Councilman Fulop is leading the public to believe, the hours that are put in during the meetings are just the tip of the iceberg as far as being commissioners and serving the public," she said.

The only business you get from traffic into NYC is what you already see on 1/9, 12th st and 14th....Gas stations, fast food, hookers and no-tell motels.

The pollution, congestion, noise and danger from the Holland Tunnel traffic overflowing onto our streets is a serious problem.

We need major enforcement and blockades to keep the tunnel traffic out of our local streets.

Or make the police block off the exits during rush hour and weekend backup and only allow local traffic through.

Put up a sign at the exit saying "EXIT CLOSED. Local Traffic Only." and station it with a cruiser with flashing lights. (even an empty cruiser would help)

Other communities do this near choke points in traffic, especially along border crossings with Canada.

Also, they should aggressively ticket cars for blocking the box. We'd have much less congestion if cross-traffic could flow better.

Aggressive policing of the traffic would solve the problem without new payment schemes.

WOW, this guy Kelly is a real piece of work. He's got a long history of corruption in Orange and will fit in just peachy here.

Check out this 1998 report from the State of New Jersey Commission of Investigation.

Fundraising scandals, travel scandals, personal car scandals. John "Jack" Kelly should go back to Orange. We don't need more of his type here.

http://www.taxes2high.org/Municipal%20Spending.html

Plus his biggest claim to fame is presiding over FOUR revals? Yeah, that's just what we need.

If people want to play volley ball there, then perhaps the city or park group should install a sand court and a real net to clean it up.
