If I didn't knock her up, I'm not giving up my seat.

There are too many people in this world.

If there were less, there would be more seats available.

All the prego is doing is contributing to the problem be producing more humans that we don't need.

Before my lynching starts...

I do, however, give up my seat for old & handicapped people. Being old or handicapped isn't someones choice. Getting pregnant is.

I also miss Melt and Comfort Bistro, along with the old newport pancake house (pre Brownstone Diner). I know the owners are the same, but I miss the old building, its ambience and the old menu.

Try my brother-in-law:

PDZ Electric
732-744-9550

He does commercial and residential work. He's based in Edison and has worked on most of the auto dealerships on Rte 1 in Edison but has also worked on some of my friends' homes here in JC.

Look for Teng and tell him Heidi referred you. I already mentioned your post to him.

Oh wow. Cyn used to have a small shop on York by Grove (where the comicbook/videogame store now is). Good to know she didn't disappear completely.

Ah yes, that would be the CupCake Salon, by Tastebuds Presents Cyn-Ful Treasures.

I've looked, but I've never tasted her creations.

Maybe it's time for me to indulge in a Red Velvet Cupcake with Cream Cheese Icing?

Mmmm...

I am completely independent from my parents, but I have no doubt in my mind that my parents would never stand for me dating someone that purposely shows his ass. Why do some guys do that? Excuse me if I offend anyone, but I can only see a man wanting to show his ass to attract another man. Bla bla bla I don't need any para breaks bla bla bla.

"Fancy grocery stores" are "so great and needed" because the demographics in JC is changing, as are our educational/professional backgrounds, levels of disposable income, health/dietary requirements, and more importantly, tastes.

I'm fairly happy with A&P and Target, but would definitely appreciate a Trader Joe's, Whole Foods or heck, even a Wegman's in the area.

It's all an act. He probably figured out that many people are on to him, and now he's going for pity in a different way.

One night, I had the (mis)fortune of hearing his spiel again in the train and actually walked behind him as he exited the Grove St PATH. He was walking very slowly and mumbling (slurring) to himself, but once he emerged from the station, he started walking faster and even spoke to some of his homies standing on the corner of Grove and Columbus, sans slur.

I just shook my head and kept walking home.

I remember when he used to be really well-kept and had the whole clipboard and ID thing going on. I guess maybe he was too successful at his previous panhandling?? I mean, I can only guess where all that money went to, and now it's really starting to show.

Yes, spill it.

We looked into LHN last year and liked it (despite the used-car-dealeresque sales tactics). What are the common complaints from the LHN homeowners?

Seriously, I like LHN also, but this is just desperate and sad.

Bland and flavorless? Are you kidding? The tacos at Downtown Taqueria bring back me to the taquerias I visited in the Yucatan, Quintana Roo, and Jalisco.

Taqueria rocks. If you don't think so, well, all the better for me and my friends.

+1 on Newport Medical Associates. The reception staff is often clueless and lazy, but they will give you same-day appointments when necessary. I see Dr. Chinai there, who seems knowledgeable, competent, and has a no-nonsense attitude which I like.

Also, St. Mary's and Hoboken University Medical Center are one and the same. St. Mary's was never "closed down."

Although no longer owned by Bon Secours, the middle management and staff are still there from the St. Mary's days. It's now a city-owned hospital, and became a university hospital (because of its affiliation with some NJ med and nursing schools), but really, the only difference is the name.

Pazman, there is no "Asian" category, just the catchall "Other." But yes, there is no such thing as the McNair district. Students come from all parts of JC (and in some rare instances, cough, even outside JC). I'm curious though, is this something that realtors have been promoting recently?

Couldn't agree with you more. I've had valuable items fall out of my pockets as I exited the car and not realize it until I get back into the car (usually a day or more later). I have to say I've been pretty damn lucky.

Kudos to JCPD
Home away from home
Home away from home

At around 3:00 this morning, as I was getting ready to go to bed, I heard someone yell, "Get on the ground! Now!"

So I rushed to our front window and watched for the next 15 minutes or so as two JCPD officers questioned and arrested two males across the street from our building on Grove St. From what I could hear, it sounded like the two 19-year-old males were seen by the patrolling cops attempting to break into the van parked across the street from us. I searched the NJ.com site to see if any articles have been posted, but haven't seen any so far. Maybe we'll get the full details on Monday.

Anyway, thanks to the JCPD for getting these two low lives off our streets!

Re: Eye Doctor Recommendation

JCNJ, if you are looking for an ophthalmologist and not an optometrist, I highly recommend mine:

Dr. Joanna Pruzon
Ophthalmologist
Hudson Eye Physicians & Surgeons LLC
600 Pavonia Ave. 6th Fl
Jersey City, NJ 07306
(201) 963-3937

Not sure what you consider "local," but although her office isn't downtown, it is conveniently located by the Journal Square PATH station.
