Did anyone in Ward E get the Healy "official" letter? I haven not seen it yet.

Her website qualifies her as a software designer. I'm not even sure what you are getting at with your insistence that Candice is some kind of "operative" which apparently is a bad thing that does not apply to any other candidate.

All I know is Candice has worked hard for the Ward, providing effective community assistance after Sandy and she has the confidence of the reforming candidate I hope will be our next Mayor.

Of course people participating in political discussions are likely to have an opinion on an upcoming election. That doesn't discredit their opinions, unless they are hyper-partisan and somewhat hyperbolic. Ahem.

What I see is someone who founded a software company in 2010 that has been successful. Yes, the software is for use by political campaigns. This experience would not make Candice a "seasoned political operative" anywhere, but in Jersey City, where politics is still a machine game, you are especially off-base.

They originally planned to put a major division of the firm in the JC tower, but there was too much resistance to the move.

I'm sure the money will be returned immediately after the Dwek contribution is donated to charity.

My apologies if they have dropped this plan. I did a web search and this is what I found.

Dan--Can you describe how the new proposal differs? I hope it's not a boring attempt to pretend to be old.

Although it does look like a parking structure, the lower floors are apartments above retail.

I don't think it is necessary for large buildings that occupy an entire side of the park to match the style of the surrounding architecture. I hope they don't go "matchy-matchy" because some people want the building to pretend to be old.

I think the form is an attempt to minimize the impact on the park by keeping the bulk low and letting light through between the towers.

Proposed for the vacant lot on the east side of Hamilton Park.

Not exactly consistent with the neighborhood, but certainly not boring.

I really like the "Hudson" video because it is different. When Fulop says "some things aren't meant to be easy" I think he means to evoke his long effort to pull our local government into the 21st century in the face of fierce resistance from many vested interests.

The ad gets you attention and delivers the message of determination and strength.

Even better--it is an authentic representation of the man. He really does compete in triathlons.

Politics is an entrenched machine. Most of us have the luxury of righteousness at our disposal where our opinions of what is ?correct? is involved, but public figures do not. They can?t grind the gears forever without eventually stripping them.

This is the defeatism that allows the status quo to survive. I hope we are about to lay it to rest.

The reporters covering these endorsements are lazy. Copy the press release, get comment from the other side. Done. Why not report on the process behind the endorsement and why it happened?

So basically this is just some back-room deal between Healy and the head of the union, motivated by who-knows-what.

I think the imagery is about the perseverance needed to take on the machine in JC. How many people would have had the stomach for such an undertaking?
