JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - In Jersey City, the new mayor ? Steve Fulop ? can usually be found hard at work behind his desk well before 8 a.m.

That?s where WCBS 880?s Steve Scott found him Monday for the Eye on Politics segment.

?We?ve been there three weeks now. We?re getting in at 7 a.m. We?re leaving probably close to 11 p.m.,? Fulop told Scott. ?A lot of young people that we?ve hired here and a lot of energy, but a lot of work to do. It?s been a tough three weeks getting things settled.?

"I don't want to leave, I've been here since 1970," Benthall said today, adding she is the third generation of her family to live at the development.

This is the problem.

If the government seriously wants to help them move up the social ladder, it should help those who are willing, to relocate to higher growth states like Texas. The job creators for low skilled jobs have been driven out of state because of all sorts of taxes and they are not coming back.

Yes I have noticed that and I have noticed the same annoying behavior on NYC subways too.

I'll resort to pushing the idiots that don't move all the way into the train before that happens. Have you ever noticed how everyone crowds the doors, and there's always a two or three body amount of space in the corners at all times?

Quest for a good veggie burger turns into a new business
#97
Home away from home

It all began with a burger and a vision for Jersey City resident Elizabeth Migliore, 29, the founder of Jersey City Veggie Burgers ? a vision, that is, of not having to stare down a crappy-tasting veggie burger on her dinner table anymore.

Migliore usually sells the burgers each week at both the Historic Downtown Farmers Market, and the Hamilton Farmers Market. She also sells them through her Web site, www.jerseycityveggieburgers.com , and through a handful of local and online sites, she said.

Hope it does not reach a point where the peak time commuters have to start boarding trains going in the reverse direction to JSQ to get into the city.

PAD is a joke. Should be renamed Newport II. Overdevelopment and no parks, no improvement in infrastructure like public transport and sewer systems = DISASTER

Hoboken has better educated and wealthier population and still they have no WF. Even Brooklyn had to wait a long time for a WF.

People in this town have got very low standards for Quality of life issues. It might not be their fault though. They have lived under an inactive mayor and PD for a long time. This is going to change with our new mayor and revamped PD.

Really?! So the problem is with me, that I should pay more attention when someone walks right up to me in the middle of the day to harass me and refused to let me walk by, almost grabbing at me? Hmm...thanks for the advice of accepting the problems in the city as it is and work on myself instead.

Well said sir!

Quote:
Everyone is treating the new mayor as if he were a friend or connection in city hall just because they voted for him. Now they want to pass blame for a city agency doing their job. I never saw blame on Healy for parking tickets. Complaints were made because Healy was not tough enough and now the new guy in town is too tough. It seems that more is expected from Fulop than Healy in getting things done.

That is fine as long as the pockets don't become crime havens.

It's not as diverse as you think most people stay in their own pockets. The interaction among the masses seem to stay within thier own "ethnic communities" They may co-exsist together but that is where it slows down to a waltz.

Everyone knows that mayor Fulop is going to do wonderful things for JC. But 8% is a bit steep. If we cut spending alongside, I am sure the increase would be a bit tolerable. The thing with taxes in a blue state like Jersey is that they only go up, but hardly come down. Hope we don't have to live with this 8% forever.
