Re: Hearing delay irks gun store owner: Owner's licenses to sell and carry firearms still revoked

Nice analogy. Hand writing on paper vs. Uzi sub-machine guns. This debate is so old. Why do gun freaks always use this stupid 2nd Amendment as an argument? Deep down inside, we all know it's a smoke screen.

The "founders" also wrote the "right to bear arms" when muskets were being used. I don't think they had uzi sub-machine guns in mind.

This is NOT a done deal by any stretch. If BSC was bought for $2 a share, why did the share price never hit that? It traded at 4x that today. Something is up here and it will all come out soon enough.

Thanks for the posts BM. I just haven't really seen them lately, and never really saw or heard of them ever really making a difference. Trust me, not that I don't want them to. I fully support grassroots efforts of the community. As far as I know, our tax dollars aren't funding it, so let it be. It's not like we get top notch service from those that do get our tax dollars... ahem...

I had to distance myself from all these bb's honestly. I guess it became numbing in a way. The censorship still astounds me. I just don't get the feel any of these sites in the end are truly for the community. Plus, I go in and out of phases with all this stuff. We'll see... becoming disenchanted with downtown JC a bit as well... but the pros still outweigh the cons for now... Hope all is well with the BM!

I hope they're as effective as the Guardian Angels. Speaking of the GA, has anyone heard of a single thing that they've thwarted since being here??? Are they even still here???

That's the Jersey City cowboy. I see him every now and then on Jersey Ave. etc. Sometimes, with a cohort. Word has it he was a horse trainer for police horses. Where he "parks" them, I have no idea. I've seen the horse tied outside the Hamilton Park Ale House a few times.

With a name like the "Shore Club", I'd say about 35k a year is about right...

... the abatement goes to the builder... not you... or, VERY little is passed on to you. Since it's new construction, the taxes are based on sale price and NOT the formula the city usually uses.

I agree as well... As much as the $42,000+ price tag really pisses me off, at least someone is actually doing something!

I'm telling you, we need neighborhood patrols from 12 MIDNIGHT until sunrise! The cops won't do it, the guardian angels stop at 11. It's up to US. I'm completely serious here! If a whole bunch of people get together on various nights and just walk around, it just might work. It's time to take this shit back! It really sucks that it has to come to this, but you have to be your own police around here. If any people are interested in doing this at all, we really should. 5 people per night from 12 to 6 just walking around, carrying mace (completely legal) and a police scanner (so we can do the work for them, then they can use their cuffs and take the credit) and phones. It's ridiculous that people pay these prices, etc and can't even sleep in peace!

Well... the cops obviously have better things to do. Like counting their kickbacks, and the Guardian Angles haven't done dick. Does anyone know if these guys have actually stopped a SINGLE thing from happening around here? I fully supported them when they came here, but I've lost as much faith in them as I have the cops.

It's time for the citizens to be vigilantes and take the neighborhood back! It's sad, but I think deep down inside, we all know it's true!

Just get some plastic and duct tape. Seal yourself in the bathroom. Tom Ridge assured us it would work. I trust him, and you should too.

Re: Downtown Jersey City Watch-Updates Thread

After having my bike stolen right out of my hallway of my building, I fully support mini surveillance cams. They are so cheap now, and the piece of mind is invaluable. No one's privacy is invaded as it would be in a public place. There are just too many thieves, etc that think they are invisible! Spying is one thing, but this is for the public good. I also live on the top floor, so the only person(s) on the cam are me and friends (who know about it). Anyone else shouldn't be up here to begin with!
