how does one incident mean the area is going downhill. This is a city, there will be crime from time to time. If you cannot bear that small inconvenience (especially in your area), than move out.

and might i add this topic was created almost a full 3 years ago, and she is winning a Grammy now. Good job on those who found her so early. I just listened to her voice and i have to say, i love it. I have always loved Alicia keys' voice personally but Esperanza is giving her a run for her money

If you were closer to the northern section of the Heights i may have been able to help with off-street parking but there is no sense for you to head up jst to park and then head back down. On-street parking is just as good but take ^^^their advice and do not leave any important items inside your car. The Heights isn't the most crime ridden area but things can still happen.

and how exactly are they useless. They are buildings that are still intact, with issues nonetheless(which can be fixed). Only someone who isn't from the city would want to see old architecture want to see it taken down. Every great and beautiful city has found a way to use their old buildings and change them into something great. Having these buildings gives us our own distinction and stops all the buildings of generic buildings being built, making the city worst than before.

The immediate section around LSP isn't that bad but it also isn't the greatest. Nothing more or less than what you what have to handle in brooklyn. Some people just love to bash JC at all costs. I've lived here my whole life (20 years) and I can surely tell you that crime has gone down, significantly. That particular area has also changed, not in the same magnitude as the entirety of downtown but has gone in a new direction and with people, like yourself, who are willing to invest in that section i wouldn't doubt that BeLa ( I combined them, sue me) will grow into something better.

this is definitely good for us. Give it 5 years, skyscrapers will be popping up just like they were before the financial meltdown.

JC is one of the most diverse cities in America. This is great but of course won't be put on the news, this is cool and should get some spotlight.

There used to be a spot that was on the corner of central & Leonard St, right in front of Washington park called new york pizza( i know..smh). They had the best best pizza i have ever eaten in my life and ate there everyday after school. But they closed back in 06, not sure why though. GIno's in the HEights, as well, was good pizza to but now theyre just to expensive and TOOO thin. Theyre pizzas used to be for 1.25 and were delicious, not many pizza places i can give alot of credit too now,

you could take 287 straight down and connect to I-78 and continue on the turnpike extension into JC. Your best bet would be to take the turnpike, except on Fridays. No matter what route you take there is going to be traffic.

I really wish that extension wasn;t a toll road. That would bring in tons of traffic of from people outside of JC but nobody really wants to pay and that is why most of the other roads are clogged up.

This is pretty decent i guess. We did still grow but it surely wasn't what i expected. I figured we would reach 260,000 by this census, so i overshot by 13k, I have to admit i didn't expect Newark to grow but that is just as good. Just sucks we wont be the biggest city still . I think we could have reached the number above if some people did stay. Our population grew but we still had a good amount of people leaving the city. WE need more entertainment in this city. I honestly think that will help keep people to stay here, and would help people overlook the negatives of this city. Not that we will just forget about it, just that the positive of having much entertainment would out weigh the negatives. Still, im happy we grew but 3k short of being in the 250,00 categories.......DAMN!!!!! That's like getting a 97 on a test lol

Ice skating in Newport or Pershing Field could have been done. You could have taken them downtown to scoop up painting material if they like to draw. Simply have gone to a restaurant and eat and not have to cook. Or you could have simply taken them out to start shoveling for money. Some people still needed it.

i do agree that i don't like the vinyl sidings. Its real cheap and generic but yet they are still being built more and more...smh Exactly where would this be. i remember palisades liquor but cant recall any Philippine stores. Anything added to any part of the city is great and to see it not be concentrated just on central ave is great. It good to see expansion. I just HATE the housing that developers keep deciding to build. Does anyone know a time frame of when it might open

Re: Loew's Theater could be so much more...
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

Lowes theater has GREAT potential is just many people like above have a negative mentality. and parking shouldn't have much to do with it. AS much as i hate comparisons to nyc, there is not much parking in nyc but that doesn't stop people from entering the city and viewing venues. I cant this being a huge venue, maybe this can support local bands from independents labels. I just wish we didn't have what i call smooth rock. Its just too cheesy for this area and we need bands who are more edgy. And JC has a huge hip-hop scene with not so many known artist.

And J.sq is being revived. The new towers ( which i think are extremely generic and ugly to be the center piece of the skyline for any location) are being built and more residences are being planned. It does have massive potential but we need more support, which is tied to Pride in thsi city which many people do not have.

Once a sense of pride startes to spread here it could happen. but the catch 22 is there is nothing to be proud of . ive rambled i know but im putting my 2 cents in. I would lvoe to go spend time here but i dont want to see "classic" movies
