Sure, must have been a long 3 years within the confines of the UN compound - if you basically saw fuck all.

Did you have a nice shiny white SUV to drive around in and impress the locals ?

M'kay sunshine, I've only been in the region for 20 odd years or so. I'm nearly fluent in only a couple of SE Asian languages.

Let's refer to him as "Dick" for convenience:

Dick makes a fair point about the park not having decent amenities but the absurd notion of handing it over to a private entity is well in line with his whiny comments about any productive progress within Jersey City approving large scale development projects.

If current zoning permits only 7 stories, a 18 story building will need an exemption, yes? Without seeing the design, it's hard to comment, but intuitively I feel a building more than twice as tall as other buildings will change the neighborhood. Whether that's improvement or not, I don't know. But once this is approved, it will be used as a precedent to develop other perhaps even taller buildings, yes? Will Christopher Columbus become like Newport in a not so distant future?

Bottom line is the area is a crime ridden shithole and will remain that way for quite sometime.

If you can find a place around or under the 150k mark it might be worth it to float as a section 8 rental.

Journal Sq. is the next real boom location and the properties within real reach of the PATH station were snatched up last year - I got outbid on a property on Rock St. that is probably worth double already.

Buy land, they don't make it anymore.

Some nice large houses with plenty of built in garages behind them in Greenville and along other parts of the 'hood'.

With the JC values increasing are any savy investors buying to hold in this area ?

I've dined in once and ordered another time via fastboydelivery.com- both times were fantastic. I can wholeheartedly recommend the seafood fritters, the spicy tuna roll, the spicy pork , and the bulgolgi. Come hungry.

Are there side dishes included with those? Seems pricey if not.

Should come with a whole variety of 'ban chan' but looking at the pics it is only a tiny small assed serving of kimchee.

Place looks like a hack joke of what the real deal is.

Hope they did not lock into a long lease as there are folks like myself who cant count the times I've thrown down in Korea for real local food and rocked Flushing Queens for some BiBi Smack down when in the mood.

I had so been looking forward to trying this place and went tonight but was very disappointed. For two of us, I ordered the kimchee and seafood fritters, ramen and bibimbap. The good: the bibimbap wasn't bad (fresh cut veggies) but it lacked flavor-- I got it for take out and was given no sauce with it (basic serves it with a yummy siracha like sauce). The ramen was substandard and completely flavorless. The fritters were inedible-- absolutely soaked in grease/oil. I can't believe this is the same place others rave about. It wasn't even busy.

Oh that is terrible,

Expecting a yummy siracha sauce in place of the correct bean paste (Doenjang)

And then ordering Japanese Ramen in a Korean joint.

Maybe try Flushing, Queens

Any male who makes a vow of celibacy is f'ked up IMO, sorry if that seems anyway offensive to anybody.

I've warned my son about being around these types and what
ulterior motives they may posses.

Maybe he should try to play the quota game at McNair.......

Re: $aint Peters Prep

McNair is very hyped, bottom line (and this is from speaking with students who currently attend).

Academic was good during my high school years.

Prep always produced Ivy League Material (at a cost).

So my question, is Prep now really worth 15k these days?.

Not about preening and posturing or about full scholarships from people who wish they could have sent their kids to Prep but could not overcome the financial obstacle it presents for many.

My time it was around $2,500 per year, so the tuition has risen a slightly.

iGreg, did you try entering "st peters prep" in the search box? http://jclist.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=28575
But it does sound like Prep is your kind of place. The diversity of McNair (and LCCS before that) is a fantastic experience that we wouldn't trade for anything.

Did not see any other Prep related topics.

McNair was and is an option as well, but from other info received
Prep would be a bit more exclusive and generally better - cost not playing any factor in that.

That was assumed. But it depends on your kid, his sports, his grades & scores, his aspirations, and yours. As related in previous Prep threads ( you read them right?) my son was given a full scholarship there and went to McNair instead for a superior academic experience. But students love the Prep experience, its sports programs and it's alumni network.
