Re: Whole Foods in JC?

The old colony shopping center would be the best place for it. Don't know why that didn't happen. I also wonder what type of deal was struck. Metropolis is a co op so each owner should get a piece of this.

I may have missed it but has Fulop explained his decision to end the Reval other then it was unfair? Did he not realize it would eventually be required by law? Was there a plan for that? Did he realize by waiting until values were at an all time high we will now have to kick more to the state?

Peccarros has been baking their bread in Hoboken for some time now. I'm not sure there will be much of a difference bringing it here

You can't have both ways. If you believe our President that we have recovered from the economic crisis then thhe there is no need for Keynesian economics

@moby. California is in horrible shape. They owe billions. I guess u think 1 yr of a surplus and all problems are solved. How much is a gallon of gas there? And Pebble, I guess you and your kensean belief feel we should continue to spend for the next how many years?

Interesting wording using the chicken metaphor. I wonder how Reverand Weight is these days.

Hero, show me an example here is the US of a successful liberal monetary policy. California? NJ? Detroit? Camden?

That has not been my experience. In fact a few weeks ago after 6 mo of riding I finally saw them checking. The first 3 people approached did not have a ticket. They were all trying to use some story as to why.

It reminds me of a scene in a Great movie called 29th Street where they try to have their car stolen. Anyone else see the movie?

Hey don't worry. The thief probably needed the BMW and laptop more then the victim.

Well then Frank why isn't a similar enforcement plan implemented for the subway path and ferries?

Lima,
They were checking today in Bayonne at Eigth St. I spoke to the officers. They confirmed my suspicion. They have been instructed not to check minors for tickets in JC. The judge throws out many tickets. They said they could write tickets all day on fare beaters

I agree. I have been riding for 6 months and would bet 60% of the riders ride for free and even a greater percentage during off peak hours. We as paying customers are funding this handout. The other day was the first time I have witnessed them checking for tickets. I have no doubt they could pay an officer's salary 10 fold with the number of tickets they would write. Does anyone know if the cost of a ticket has risen on pace with the fares?

My point Brewster was that the abated properties downtown are paying their fair share. They are not getting some free ride as you theorize. It will be the older properties that feel the pain whether it be downtown or elsewhere.

Yes it exists in downtown but downtown has all the new construction so far. These properties are assessed much closer to their true value. Once the revale occurs the building with abatements will actually be getting a true discount compared to other properties

Hamhock. That's is a joke right? The new downtown properties are supporting the city. It's certianly not the 1980s assessed properties paying taxes on 25% of their actual market value

For all of you screaming for a revale once it happens the abated properties will really be the ones getting a break.

Name a mayor who didn't kick this can down the road? It's just typical Democrat arrogance. He figured he could do what he wants like they all do here in Hudson county

If u have a car I highly recommend The Animal Medical center in NYC. They have been great to us and their prices are close to what local vets charge. Our dog Max passed away with cancer recently. We had him at our local vet who diagnosed him with a bout of pancreatitis. A few weeks later when he was not feeling well we bought him there. They were able to diagnose him and treat him. We got another month to enjoy time together that we would not have gotten if it had not been for them. I wish you well.

You should have seen them 15 yrs ago. They are much much better today. In fact Fulop was instrumental in getting them fixed as a councilman.
