Re: baby born on PATH train
Home away from home
Home away from home

So it's OK for women to work and earn their equal rights, while the men regress back to caveman mentality and behavior?

I'm sorry, but your argument is weak. Just because everyone else is "doing it" doesn't make it right. It more about how you see yourself and your values, and do as a result of that, rather than take the easier road follow the crowd (even knowing it's wrong).

But this is not even men vs women: it's about able-bodied people giving up their seats for the needed (pregnant women, sick and elderly, young children, etc). I call it respect and common decency.

Oh Downright, the men won't get up for your wife and unborn baby? Does this really surprise you in this day and age? Let me say right off the bat that I would, but I'm certainly not surprised. I've seen things like this many times on my commute. Once a woman with crutches had to yell at the young self-absorbed I-pod wearing cell phone eyeballed glued idiot seated in the handicapped seat to move. In 2012 you are shocked and surprised? With a 50% divorce rate? And what about the women's liberation movement? They have been liberated - are they not all happy with the result?

John Moss for inspection. My real estate agent didn't like him at all - which is a GOOD sign!!! Very detailed, and experienced.

Re: baby born on PATH train

Home away from home

I can understand why the couple decided to take the PATH train.

I took the PATH train, and then the #5 train, all the way up to NYU Hospital (where my doctor was) when my second child was born. It's all about what makes sense - my labor started on a rainy friday at 8am, by the time I was ready to go (ie all the symptons of labor), it was 9am. I called a car service to take us to the city, but given it's (a) friday rush hour, (b) rainy day, the dispatcher told me they won't even be able to send a car to pick us up for at least 30 min!!! So we decided to go public transportation all the way, and made it here fine.

Btw, that trip was also the only time during my entire second pregnancy that someone gave me their seat on the PATH train.

I am sure it was cleaned up. However, what I cannot believe beyond the no coffee rule from the above poster is the fact that this foreign pregnant woman took a chance in her stage of pregnancy to ride the PATH when the train's schedule changes on a moment's notice, as well as the birth of her child...what was she thinking that her cell phone would save the day??

Re: Medical bills from 1+ year ago

If I let this go to collections (the doctor's office is not negotiating), is that really a hit to my credit rating? and would that ever go away? What are the other negative impact of this?

Trying to understand all the angles to figure out what to do here...

thanks much.

What is the initial / final adverse determination letter? do I get that from the doctor's office, or from the insurance company? Sorry, new to these types of things. Also, what is the "contract"? I assume that's different from the bill/invoice? I don't remember signing a contract when I visited the office...

Thanks!

I work in the industry sadly and doctor's offices and hospitals try this all the time. Re-read your initial adverse determination and final adverse determination letters and it might mention what you owe. They cannot balance bill unless its stated in your contract.

Medical bills from 1+ year ago
Home away from home
Home away from home

Wondering if anyone is familiar with the situation: I recently received medical bills (directly from the doctor's office) from 2010 - apparently it took a long time to get the insurance company to pay their part. now that insurance company paid their part, the doctor's office is coming after me for the remainder.

My question are:

can they come after me now that the bill is over one year old?

what happens if I cannot pay (it's a pretty hefty one)? I assume it goes to collection agencies? Would I be able to negotiate down a bit at that point? Should I try negotiating down with the doctor's office directly now?

TIA.

Re: Landlord question - what should be added to the standard NJ rental lease form?
Home away from home

Thanks for all the good advice so far.

Besides potential penalties from trash and recycling, what other potential fees could be incurred by the tenants?

Anything else?

As far as the lease, we were told by realtors that there is a standard version issued by NJ (or perhaps the NJ Realty association or something like that), and that it is widely in use. Is that the case? Is there somewhere we could go for a really "standard" version that provide good coverage?

I see you have to register at their sports complex, but don't see anything about the days / times. Don't suppose you have any insight into that - if not I guess we'll just take a walk over and see if someone's there.

Re: Do I Need a Construction Permit for This?

Trying to hire a contractor, but thought I should check with the "official agency" just to make sure. I spoke with 3 contractors in total, 2 told me no permit needed, but 1 said perhaps. That's why I wanted to make sure.

What's the number that you listed?

Thanks...

I need to repair / re-do my shower due to a leak (not properly waterproofed when it was first installed).

Does anyone have the building dept phone number? I'd like to call and find out / confirm if I need a permit for the re-do.

TIA.

Re: PATH SmartLink Card

Same thing happened to me - I could only add 2 "packages" online, and then it wouldn't let me add anymore.

Then I went to the PATH train station, and manually added additional packages via the machines (one at a time) - that worked! Now I'm "fully loaded"

Do you know what's the bus number? trying to find out how often it runs, and such.

How come it doesn't show up in google maps (which only shows me around-the-town routes).

thanks much!

What's the most direct BUS route from City Hall (Grove and Montgomery streets) to St Peter's College?

I've seen a bus that turns onto Montgomery (from Grove), but I can't seem to find it on maps. And I know there's a stop on Montgomery by Barrow).

Thanks in advance.

What if for some reason I miss ALL of their visits? Is there a penalty for not assisting in making a visit possible?

I'm concerned about letting them in - especially if they'll be taking pictures (can I insist on NO PICTURES?).

BTW, thanks for all the answers so far...

What happens if I'm not home while they come? Will they come again (and leave a note - but that's perhaps too much to ask for!)? Or will they base my eval base on my neighbor's?

For the pool at PS 16 - how does one get in? I mean, do I pay a membership to someone/somewhere? does my kids have to go to PS 16 (which we don't)?

Would be awesome to be able to find a place for my kids to swim this year (without involving public transportation).

TIA.
