Re: Newark Avenue StreetScape

please excuse my ignorance, but how does a stretch of bumpy red plastic assist a person with disabilities? it makes for a rough ride in a wheelchair, and could probably trip a blind person.

someone just ran the stop sign at first and Erie, and hit a bicyclist (who was going the wrong way). no injuries, miraculously, but who's more at fault here?

wow doglover. kinda defensive, aren't we?

look, it's a gorgeous day. why don't we all take a walk?

(I'll do mine for free, thanks.)

Re: Van Vorst Park Dog Run

so let me get this straight: if I hire a dog walker in JC, I can expect her to walk him 2 big blocks to Van Vorst and let him loose in a muddy dog run, so his paid "walker" can stand around yakking with her fellow professionals about how impatient the other park patrons are?

sweet deal. where do I sign?

I'm curious about this new trend on JClist, wherein someone calls out a douchey dog owner/walker on his/her behavior, and then a slew of new posters jump in to swear that it never happened.

I like Wayne, the guy who stands in front of Dunkin Donuts every morning. what makes him weird is the fact that he is unfailingly polite and never fails to greet me with a big gap-toothed smile. okay, not weird. just rare.

Re: What Happened to the Trash Cans?

as a result of the removal of cans from my corner a few years ago, my delightful neighbors started dumping their trash next to my stoop (I live on the corner). so what happens next? I get a ticket from the city for failing to keep my sidewalk clean.

true story.

I like MBV but would never see them live again after their wall of sound left my ears ringing for weeks in the early 90s. I was seriously worried that I had permanent tinnitus. great way to reward your fans.

what could a lone fireman without emt equipment possibly have done to save someone from severe head and body trauma?

I'm glad he chose to chase the jackasses who were at fault.

Alan - that is a great idea! and would definitely benefit the neighborhood.

which is why the city planners haven't thought of it.

another wreck just occurred at the corner of 1st and Erie (everybody's okay).

this time, however, there are no cars parked at the corners, so no one was blocking the view of the guy who was (supposed to be) stopped at the stop sign.

people are swell.

or you can simply look up to the overhead wall, which clearly states "uptown - 33rd" or "downtown - New Jersey"

but yeah, would be nice if the trains were correctly labeled.

I took a nice detour to WTC the same way. got on the 33rd St train at Grove, headphones on, nose in a book, didn't hear or see "next stop Exchange Place."

good times.

when I lived in LA I was a short drive from three bustling, thriving knit shops, all in high-rent districts, and none with food.

good yarn is pricey. a comfy place to gather is priceless.

I think it has a good chance.

Hoboken's soccer field at Sinatra Park was re-done for $300 thousand (no-bid contract), which brought about a bit of an uproar among those who don't own cleats, but pay taxes.

who knew they were getting such a bargain?
