If anyone wants a Fulop sign (either in the window style), or a house sign - please let me know. I will get the sign crew on it - they'll install it and remove it post election. We can also get you in-window signs.

Thanks for the consideration.

Just like his temper tantrum over "Chico" getting on the ballot, this fuss is doing nothing to help him and everything to help Team Fulop. The footage speaks for itself. Healy accepted a bribe in camera. How he was never indicted is totally beyond me.

Thanks again for the assist, Jerry!

Re: Man crossing Jersey City street struck and killed by off-duty Jersey City cop
Home away from home

Also, in reading the article again and in talking to neighbors, I cannot tell if the light was green in favor of the direction the pedestrian was crossing, or against him. See below & tell me what this means:

"A witness, who did not give his name, told responding police officers that Clifford "was crossing (Kennedy Boulevard) while the light was green, hesitated, then darted across and was struck by the vehicle," according to the accident report."

In learning more from some eye-witnesses, the victim was launched/pushed almost half a block down JFK and the driver did not stop. PErhaps he did return to the scene - but it is not yet clear or been reported as such. Which makes me think this whole thing smells doubly bad. The driver got no alcohol test, nor any summons. WTF??

Given the trajectory/distance that the victim traveled, how could this driver have been going 25mph or less? He had to be speeding. And also, as mentioned above - did the driver run a red light, or was the light green for him and the pedestrian jay-walked?

Like others said, crime is crime no matter who does it. It may very well have been an "accident" but all accidents need to get the same thorough investigation, no matter who the perp is. I love good cops. But justice needs to be served here.

I've also just learned that this victim lived in my building. Heartbreaking. Young guy just out of law school at his first big job trying to get his promising law career going.

I live right at that intersection. While we don't know if the driver was speeding or not, this stretch of JFK has a terrible speeding problem from SPU all the way to Lincoln Park/Communipaw. Its especially bad as drivers make the curve when crossing Duncan. I believe this intersection has a red-light cam. I wonder if it caught the footage of him crossing.

Granted, the pedestrian should not have crossed against the light. But this roadway really needs better signage, reflective re-painting, and even some speed bumps IMHO. I'd even advocate for one of those live "MPH" signs that displays everyone's speed as they approach it.

You're welcome! Will you have a car here? If so, the A&P grocery in Jersey City (near Hoboken boarder and Target) has organic stuff, I think. They re-modeled that store a few years back and its really, really nice! You can also get Fresh Direct delivered, of course.

How big a place do you want? I also looked to rent in 333 Fairmount (b/w JFK & Bergen) which has some gorgeous renovated units (and a rent to own program I believe). Check it out.

Are you looking to buy now, or in a few years? Check out the pre-war buildings on Duncan b/w JFK & Bergen. Gorgeous. I think there may be one for sale in my building, but I rent. But this place is coming slowly out of a deep financial hole. Also, many units haven't had their electric updated (and the eta to do that for the building is way off/not set), so some are sparse on outlets. So pending your situation, it may or may not work for you. It is a nice building, just do your homework (goes for any place, of course!).

Re: 2520 Kennedy Blvd

I live a few blocks closer to St. Peter's U at 2600 JFK. I moved up here last summer after living downtown for 17 years. I really like it up here. My apt. is much biggest /less costly. I street park my car, which can be a bit tedious but I have never had a problem (fingers crossed. and just be vigilante about moving it for street cleaning). There's really not a lot of nightlife, but not sure if that matters to you. It doesn't to me and I can go downtown if I want that.

The small grocery store on Bergen & Duncan did close after the hurricane, but I've heard the new C-Town grocery on Monticello St. (about 2-4 blocks south of that building) is decent. And there is a C-town closer to JSQ & the Twin Cities Supermarker which isn't bad. The Duane Reade & the Rite Aid at JSQ are both 24 hours (as is the Walgreen's at Communipaw & JFK. Most bodegas/produce markets close by about 8pm (maybe a few are a little later, like the liquor stores). The produce markets are great and cheap (though not upscale organic, which doesn't faze me though I know it matters to some). Not nearly as many places to get takeout or delivery as there are downtown, but its not bad - there are options. And its about a 20 min. walk to the multitude of awesome Little India restaurants just past the JSQ station. Lincoln park is very nice, and there is a lot of bus and jitney service on JFK when you'd rather not walk to the path. These even run fairly late into the night, which I use a lot if out late and/or the weather is crummy and I'd rather not walk. Its about a 15-20 min. walk to the JSQ path.

The vintage Loews movie palace at JSQ has monthly screenings of wonderful films, all at a great cheap price. Plus the restored theater organ there is a treasure. You can get to downtown, the mall, and the shopping on Rte. 440 (which is improving a little) pretty easily via bus or car. There is also a fantastic vet on Westside Ave. right near the park if you have pets, as well as plenty of doctors and dentists offices in the JSQ area. Basic dry cleaners and laundromats are all over too.

Hope this helps.

I rather liked Healy calling COMSTAT COMCAST instead.

Healy lied several times, as usual. Healy said Fulop is running a negative campaign, but couldn't prove what Fulop literature has been negative/untrue. He lied about how Fulop voted on several issues.

And WORST of all - when asked about how to address homelessness in JC - Healy actually said, "There are an awful lot of people who don't want help. They like it on the streets." Lots of boos. Really cannot believe how offensive that was. And he believes it.

Wow, the lies from Camp Healy are so far fetched, they are becoming ridiculous. Along with this blatant lie that Fulop will lay off teachers, he is now claiming Fulop vote for an abatement fit Goldman Sachs. Check the records... Fulop abstained on that vote. He voted against the Goya abatement because it would only create 9 New jobs while costing taxpayers millions. Pretty sound decision in favor of us residents.

Mrs. Healy keep yelling out inappropriate things at these forums, huh? At the Loews event, she yelled "He does not!" when Fulop said the he actually liked Mayor Healy (as a person). Rude, lady, rude. Yes, and classless. Have some pride. You are really hurting your husband's campaign.

The Fulop campaign has been repeatedly instructing its volunteers not to take down any competitor signs. We are also seeking permission for any sign that gets placed.

You still haven't explained how your platform, plans for Ward E and views are different/better.

You still aren't answering my question. The Fulop team is not a "machine". While you may not agree with their views (though it sounds like you have the exact same views for actions as Candice, which is why I ask you to differentiate your plans if elected), Fulop started from the ground up and his entire organization was built one volunteer at a time, and is still run this way. So calling them a "machine" is pretty bogus.

The theatre does classic movie screenings 1 weekend a month - do you know how expensive it is to screen current films - it's not fiscally possible for the Loews to transform into an AMC or Regal Cinemas.
The Loews can be rented out for social/cultural events, festivals and concerts by civic organizations who do not have a space of their own, or are seeking to host at a venue that is accessible to many people.
As for the arts and history not being worth funding, take a look at successful arts and historic districts, they have to be supported by taxpayers until they can stand on their own.
Just because events are not popular with you personally, doesn't mean they are not valued by the community at large. Journal Square is underserved, the neighborhood as well as the residents -old and new, and the theater provides an historic setting and preserves a piece of Jersey City's diminishing commercial architecture.
The city provides a small but important percentage of funding for the theater, which is run by 2 part time staff members as well as a slew of volunteers. Personally, I'd rather see my $$$ go into the theater rather than another private "park" on the Newport waterfront. Shame on Mayor Healy!

And to add to this well put post, each movie screening regularly attracts several hundred, sometimes even 1000-1500 people. I was at one of the silent film screening with live organ that had well over 1200 people there (maybe more - they stated this at the event, which was 'Nosferatu').

And I guess all of you griping about how it should be live music only are two new to the area to recall that Bright Eyes & Beck (Guero tour) each played separate shows here about 6-7 years ago. I'd love to see more music shows like this. But we don't have the traffic/market to fill that place with live music all the time/as the sole programming. Let's be real.

Why is it BS? Its open to the public, even though a private organization is hosting/organizing it. See the first article in this thread:
