Have you ever lived in the suburbs? I used to get harassed constantly when I lived out in Boonton, no matter what town I was in. Denville, Mountain Lakes, Parsippany, whatever. For what? Hanging around town after hours, reading books under street lights. The situation got so bad that the county prosecutor became involved and had to force a directive on the local departments because of the numerous constitutional violations that occurred nearly every time I was stopped.

Since moving to Jersey City six years ago, I have only talked to a police officer once, and as soon as they realized I was not up to anything bad, they left me alone. Suburban cops are bored bullies with nothing to do. City cops are real workers with real problems to deal with.

You should try locking it securely to a nearby fence with multiple u-locks or chains, but not structures like parking meters or light poles; thieves can sometimes easily lift it over the top of the structure.

An even better option would be to park it inside, if you have room. You can buy special hooks to hang it from the ceiling.

The fraud article says "Thomas Kelly". The crash article says "Timothy Kelly". Which one is it?

I'm sorry your dad is in jail. Seriously. My son would be upset if I wound up in the hut again. But collecting money for personal use with nothing to show would be rather obvious. Distributing a couple payouts, no matter how much these "couple of kids" lives' were changed, is nothing more than either "covering your tracks" or "plausible deniability".

I warned the people on this site that the youngster festival would be loud noise but if you kids had fun then it's ok I suppose. "Shoegaze" music sounds like country if you ask me.

That's sad about the grass and I usually don't like people wasting water on ornamental Plantagenet but we've had a lot of rain so that's ok too.

I never said get rid of all low-income housing. I said dont blame the landlord for the mess thats been created by govt policies.

Thanks for phsycho-analyzing me. It's kind of pathetic how every lib on this forum will correct ones grammar when they dont have an intelligent rebuttal.

Atleast you admit you dont know the first thing about landlording, I'd be glad to post on the electrical engineering thread.

FYI,there are more right leaners and independents in JC than you realize.

After thinking all day about it, I agree. You are better than me. I want to make Jersey City better too, so this afternoon I walked down Columbus Drive and told everyone that they are stupid liberals. I think it helped. The governor just called to let me know how much better everything is now.

I hope my son is your tenant one day.

That's a great idea if you like delays due to track fires. [/quote

I was under the impression all the grease from the McDonald's bags and Crown Fried chicken boxes would make the trains move faster if anything. LOL.

Well that's an amusing way to look at it.

Before you all get the pitchforks out, don't worry. I only throw nonflammable trash there with a note written on fire resistant paper explaining why I am using the tracks as a waste receptacle.

What would happen if we all started throwing our trash on the lawn of city hall as an "experiment"? I'm constantly embarassed when I have colleagues visit me, and while talking up the town, the streets look worse than the very worst blocks in the South Bronx. It's hard to take anything seriously around here.

So defazio wants to put blame on the landlords and property managers for the crime taking place in the city?

maybe if this backass liberal city would get rid of rent control landlords would be able to rent to quality tenants.

lets not forget that if a landlord denies a section 8 tenant they can be fined for descrmination.

give it up jc you spun the web and now youve tangled us all up in it.

I admit that I'm an electrical engineer by training and don't know much about landlording, but I think I can assume that the issue isn't as easy to boil down to its constituent parts as you make it out to be.

Perhaps some policy changes are needed, but I believe that an elimination of all low-income-housing opportunities would lead to an explosion of homeless people, and that would certainly not be in the best interest of the community.

If you feel that this city is too "back*** liberal" then perhaps you are living in the wrong part of the country? I'm not trying to be mean, but many of the people I talk to in our city seem to lean "to the left" as they say. Your anger is apparent in your typing errors. For the benefit of yourself and anybody else who will get emotional reading your posts, I suggest, as someone who has been around for quite sometime, that you should relax, rewind, and gain some perspective. We only have one life, I say.

I want to chastise you for being so negative, but unfortunately that seems to be an accurate description of the state of affairs these days.

In the meantime, my son and I will continue to trespass on the reservoir grounds while it is still rugged and natural, at least by Jersey City standards. I'm trying to teach him about Thoreau and disdain for private land ownership.

Well, I actually never really thought of it that way. I personally don't use deodorant because I take two showers a day and don't smell bad anyway, even on a day like today.

I'm not comfortable generalizing about groups of people (I try to teach my son about tolerance, even if someone does smell like a locker room!), but I can see what you mean in some cases. The panhandlers and home-less can be bad too, but I guess they don't have much of a choice. I was in line at the bank behind this man today and he smelled like that pitchooly stuff that some girls in my college years and years ago used to wear. I had to go to a different bank.

That is terrifying, and a potentially dangerous situation for anyone on the train. I'm shocked that the conductor did not act in the best interest of everyone and do something. As much as I like going for rides on the train with my 2-year-old, sometimes I think we'd be better off staying home and watching American History Railroading episodes on the YouTube.
