Emails are on the server. They wanted the phones/devices to make sure they weren't hacked. Destroying them is common practice. The FBI saw no crime.

Her equipment and emails were subpoenaed, the FBI didn't 'wipe' them, Hillary did. The FBI had it's marching orders from Lynch and Obama, obviously. It was only a 'matter', after all. Or we could say 'when is a criminal investigation not a criminal investigation? When it's handled as a political 'matter'.
