Any renderings? How many units and will it have on site parking?

Isn't Hamilton Park in a historical district? Wouldn't they have to conform to historical standards? I like the building if it were in the PAD or LHN, but smack in the middle of Hamilton Park looks completely out of place in my opinion.

Try Trulia.com or Chase Home Finder but note that these are always lower than actual market value but it can give you a ballpark idea.

I dont know how intricate your cornice is, but there is a PVC product called versatex, there are others but I prefer this one. You should consider it. I used it on a cornice I installed on one of my buildings and it is still perfect after 7 years. It is expensive, but very, very well worth it.
You can buy it in 4x8 sheets and can get may different style corbels and moldings. It is paintable also.

Thanks however I'd like to stay true to the original material.

Definitely, a piece fell down and it's also visible that all the pieces are wood. I've never seen the tin version your mentioning however those on my block by Van Vorst Park all wood.

Recommendation for brownstone cornice restoration
#67
Home away from home
Home away from home

I'd like to restore the original wooden cornice on my brownstone and wanted to inquire if anyone had any recommendations on a contractor they've recently used? Any idea of cost to do such a job?

Also is there a list of preferred contractors recommended by the historical society?

I want to make sure it is done properly so it will last another 100 years.

Thanks in advance

Pathetic. Don't know what stinks more the bull coming out of his mouth or the garbage they do a terrible job picking up.

Why does not every Jersey City citizen see right through Healy and his buddies milking this city for their benefit?

I heard that there is a hedge fund that has been buying up all the brownstones in DTJC.

Really? I can't believe they need a permit to change your water heater. I have never heard of that before. Would I need to get a permit if I want to change my sheets? Absolutely rediculous. Maybe that is why it takes so long for inspectors to actually do their real jobs when they are busy doing bull like this.

Very safe and family oriented. I've lived on York (btw Jersey and Varick) for over 5 years and have never had any issues. Everyone in the neighborhood is friendly and keeps an eye out for each other and their property. It's convenient to the park and both path/light rail as well. Both my wife and I have walked from the path at all hours without incident. Obviously you are in city and have to be alert but nothing more than anywhere else you've lived.

Just walked by Weichert on Grove and saw a listing for Kraverie for sale. What gives? They just opened and seems to be fairly busy anytime I've been there. Very disappointing.

JadedJC - heard a rumor yesterday that Nha Trang will be moving near Hamilton Park where Embankment restaurant is currently located. Thus, the Newark Ave location will be closed.

Is Nha Trang really moving there? Are they closing their Newark Ave location or are they just opening up another location?

You'll need to purchase (I believe $10 per sign) a "NO PARKING" signage from the parking authority on Central Ave.. You'll need 2 to define a proper amount of space. You'll also need to post it up the day before to give everyone proper notice.

I'm never disappointed with Taqueria (nor am I with Zeppelin Hall). Obviously the complaints are from the minority because the place is packed everytime I've been in there for lunch. Keep making those delicious tacos and I'll be a patron for life. If you have a problem with them then give them a review on Yelp, stop going and end it there.

My understanding was that it was a private park for only Newport residence. Am I wrong? I believe you need a key to get in but of course you can always follow someone in.

Completely agree...why can't they restore and make an outdoor market that would attract tourist (abroad and NYC) and locals alike. There is so much potential. Look at Reading Terminal Market in Philly or Granville Island in Vancouver. Any sort of public markets thrive anywhere in the world I've been. It's a win win situation for everyone.

For the individual that wants it torn down for open space...I hope that was a joke. You have hundreds of acres of open space all around it.

Happened to me a couple of weeks back York and Jersey. Stole a $300 pair of sunglasses I'd left in the car and a phone charger. I know others that this has happened too as well. I assume it's the same guy walking up and down the streets checking for unlocked car doors. On the bright side - they didn't bust my window to get in.

I've owned on York between Jersey and Varick for the past 5 years and have never had any issues. My wife leaves for work taking the path very early (often still dark) and has never had any issues. I too come home a couple of times late at night and never experienced any issues either. The block has a lot of families and people look out for each other. Hope this helps.

I used Family Landscaping (973-296-5246 - Ask for Alex) last yeat to sod my backyard (600 sq). They came prepped the soil, leveled and placed sod down in about 3 hours. The price was right and the service was really good. Only warning is that they tend to be really busy so it's sometimes hard to get in touch with them, but it was worth the wait.

Agreed. It's a shame because the dumplings are actually pretty good and roast pork lo mein was good too. It has to be the most unorganized business I've ever confronted between slow service, indifferent attitude, inadequate facilities (sitting, non-functioning / dirty bathroom) and of course the child running around and disrupting patrons. Overall, very unprofessional thus the reason we too stopped ordering from there.

Funny story - I actually saw the women deliver food to a neighbor of mine with stroller and baby in tow.

I agree with you...I don't want to see billboards all over the place especially in the historic districts. If they want to put it up by the tunnel fine but not in residential areas.

Much nicer and minus all the past illegal activities. New owner / chef is renovating interior now and hopes to renovate the exterior to conform to the historic neighborhood once plans are approved by the city.

Saw coming soon sign for ME Casa restaurant by the corner of Varick and Columbus. Sounds promising - serving Puerto Rican and other Latin foods. The menu currently only has their catering options but I'm sure the restaurant is going to have similar options plus more. It will definitely be another great addition to the neighborhood.
