Re: Traveling to Newark (Mass Transit)

Just can't stay away

Hi ... I was just checking this out, too. Supposedly the #1 train is on normal schedule & when I checked the pdf schedule, there are buses from Exchange Place (Montgomery at Greene) approximately every half-hour. Leaving for Newark Penn Station at: 6:27am, 6:58am, 7:27am, etc. Of course, please don't take this as gospel because I'm just getting it from their schedule.

Now, my question is .... which side of the street is the bus stop?

Happy trails ...

What's the real scoop on the driving ban? I'm looking out my window (8th & Erie) & car after car is going down Erie. I need to tske a cab to work ... are motorists really getting fined? Thanks.

Happy trails to you! ... and, I've always loved your tag line:

Best advice I've ever gotten from JC List.

Key Foods - Jersey & 3rd
#67
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

Moderator, would it be possible to start a new 'Key Foods' topic since it definitely isn't the old C-Town anymore and doesn't deserve to be discussed under the "Beware C-Town @ 2nd and Jersey"?

I had shopped at C-Town for cat litter, TP, etc. for well over 20 years & was pretty skeptical that much would change when Key Foods moved in but ... wow, what a difference, and they're still not done remodeling. It's a real grocery store ... fresh veggies & fruit, great frozen section, and they still carry my favorite cat litter.

What a great addition to the neighborhood!

Several years ago speed bumps were installed on Jersey Avenue & the noise drove me crazy. Be careful what you wish for.

I can't wait for a taste of their avocado ice cream ... the best!

Also, I've never found them to be chintzy ... when I buy a pint they actually over-fill the container.

I can't find anything on the JC website about any change in tonight's trash/recycling pick up. I'm in the Hamilton Park area. Anyone know anything?

Rubber bands going postal
#77
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

Has anyone else noticed all the rubber bands left on stoops or entrance-ways or sidewalks by our local postal carriers? I know they bundle the mail with them, & apparently some carriers just let them fall where they may when unbundling.

I'm going to give a call to our main post offiice & offer a suggestion that the carriers stash the rubber bands instead of littering the neighborhood.

Please don't park in crosswalks

Please don't park at crosswalks, especially with all the snow piled up. Walking home from the Grove Street PATH station last night I came upon two cars parked smack-dab at cleared crosswalks.

Maybe I should start carrying an indelible marker to leave notes directly on the offending autos.

I used to get ants every spring in my old apartment on Jersey Avenue ... and the only thing that really worked was:

1. The fact that trash is picked up even on holidays

2. Having neighbors I've known for decades (as well as
newer ones). Being able to walk down the street &
run into people I know.

3. Saigon Cafe ... great food & friendly people

4. The "ahhh" feeling when I get off the PATH train & back to
Jersey City from Manhattan. It's home sweet home!

Grace Church Van Vorst has been renting out their parish hall for at least the past 24 years ... the neighborhood & the people who live in it have changed a lot in those years.

Instead of letting your anger explode here on the board, it would be so much better to sit down & TALK .. negotiate. (You know, kind of like what President Bush DIDN'T do before he started wreaking havoc these past eight years).

Anyway, those concerned could call the church & set up an appointment with the rectors & vestry. For Pete's sake ... talk face to face, please!

I highly recommend 'A Wheelie Good Pet Care Service' ... my two cats (even the so so shy one) love Linda. Even if I'm gone for a week or more, when I return home my guys are not stressed or freaked out ... just happy to see me.

She comes over to my apartment once or twice a day & feeds them, cleans the litter box, etc., but more importantly (to me) really plays with them. She is a gem. Also, cats tend to be happier when they stay in their own environment. I trust Linda so much that she keeps a set of my keys.

Here's her contact info: (201) 892-8463
