Of course it makes sense a person like Yvonne, who never saw a form of discrimination she didn't like, wouldn't understand the fact that this is selectively enforced and intended to keep out people of color at the bouncer's discretion.

Not really. More to the point is people like you trying to make it about race. The bar simply feels that people who dress a certian way act a certian way and they dont want that aggravation

Completely agree - the Left turns EVERYTHING into a race or class war. And let's blame this on Trump while we're at it.

Random shooting which occurs every day in the USA and somehow "Trump" comes into the conversation. Well done.

I'll take it by your response that you believe each has many priors and should not be out on the street.

No, nothing having to do with your thoughts or my opinions on the criminal justice system. Just the fact that anyone in this country could actually believe a President, let alone the current one, could effectively change anything to do with their current life/local neighborhood.

The point is while the liberal Democrats rant and rave about Trump, the Wall, (fill-in the blank with why you hate Trump), etc., the REAL problems like this are not being solved by the Democrats - but hey, let's all brag how we have the strictest gun laws in the US - tell me how that's working.

Jersey might have strict guns laws, but this country as a whole has the weakest gun laws of any first world country. I'll let you in on a little secret... we don't have import export regulations between states. Guns cross state lines like water going down a stream from one property to another. No local regulations will ever end gun violence in this country.

Until this country gets Federally mandated gun control, in place for years, we won't see a reduction in gun violence. My guess, unfortunately, that will never happen due to the obstinance of conservatives.

What makes you think Federally mandated gun control will solve the problem - criminals are criminals - they don't care if they break a state law or Federal law. How about values, a father that is present when raising children, etc.? You'd be surprised how much that would control illegal gun use.

Democrats and liberals ignore the REAL issues in their party/this country - they're afraid to face and tell the truth.

If this happened in Gov Christie's administration or any other Republican admin, there'd be outrage from the press to no end.

What do we have with Murphy and the Dems in charge? Sounds of crickets.

I recently moved out of JC to Philly, and received a ticket for recycling being out on the wrong day. We moved in July, but our place just sold, so we were the owners at the time of the ticket. Not sure what recycling the ticket is referring to, since we weren't living in the apartment, but okay.

I was just going to pay it and move on, but it turns out I have to appear in court to even find out what the fine is. I spoke to a woman at the courthouse who suggested I send an email explaining the situation, which I did.

I can't make the court date they set, but also I really don't want to spend hours traveling back to JC to deal with this. Does anyone have experience with this kind of situation? Are the judges generally understanding of people who don't live here anymore?

Claim that you are a not a US citizen and Murphy and Fulop will grant you sanctuary status - you're safe!

Really, are you afraid of JCPD making a road trip to Philly to bust you - they have better things to worry about.

Id rather have someones rights infringed upon for probable cause than someone dead. I guess we differ there.

"Stop and frisk" by definition is lacking probable cause other than a profile. You might feel differently when it's your own rights you give up so easily. Ready to have your house searched for contraband or code violations 'just because'?

How do you stop and frisk a house?

Does every crevice of the city have to be built up as soon as possible as much as possible?

I used to live on Monmouth on the other side of Old Colony Mall. I still take my kids to P.S. 3. I go shopping at Ranch 99 and have the occasional craving for Popeyes or a donut from Dunkin Donuts. A while back I used the auto body shop to fix a banged up car for a few hundred bucks that the insurance company insisted was totalled. Point being that I've been around there and still have occasion to go there.

Sure you could spruce up those few blocks and build some townhouses or apartments, but is the city really hurting because they haven't done so yet? If the current landowners are really squatting or speculating that's one thing, but if it's just a question of waiting a couple of years, or maybe building a little smaller, then why give a developer the power of eminent domain at the expense of current owners, residents, and business owners?

In light of the recent tax increases in Downtown due to the reval and pending school tax increases, it's in DTJC's best interest to build as dense as it can, wherever it can. Many homeless people live in that area in the abandoned housing and that area does not feel safe at night.

Bingo! I don't understand why the anti-development people don't understand that. Also, the more luxury the development, the more tax revenue it will bring in (be it PILOT payments or property taxes, it's still revenue to the city). The luxury tower at 99 Hudson alone will have over 700 condos with assessments averaging $750,000. That's over half a billion in new ratables and 6-7 million in new property taxes. They new money can be used to lower everyone's taxes or be used to fund additional city services.

HAHAHAHAHAH!!

When have you EVER seen property taxes go DOWN??????

NOT in NJ!
