Wow. So the one person doesn't know the difference between alive and dead, and FDS doesn't understand that economics IS ideology.

ideology |ˌīdēˈ?ləjē; ˌidē-|
noun
1 ( pl. -gies) a system of ideas and ideals, esp. one that forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy : the ideology of republicanism.

Geniuses, all around.

Actually -
" i?de?ol?o?gy   [ahy-dee-ol-uh-jee, id-ee-] Show IPA
?noun, plural -gies.
1.
the body of doctrine, myth, belief, etc., that guides an individual, social movement, institution, class, or large group.
2.
such a body of doctrine, myth, etc., with reference to some political and social plan, as that of fascism, along with the devices for putting it into operation.
3.
Philosophy .
a.
the study of the nature and origin of ideas.
b.
a system that derives ideas exclusively from sensation.
4.
theorizing of a visionary or impractical nature."

I guess it all depends on who you ask, but I have never heard "ideology" used in relation to economics, and besides the proper use of the word isn't really relevant when it was very obvious what was meant of my use of it. Besides, it doesn't change my point, which is the fact that the US doesn't fight ideological wars, economic or otherwise. Non of the conflicts mentioned were fought solely over an economic belief system, they had concrete benefits which could be realized.
By the way, nice job distracting from what I was originally pointing out- the fact that you clearly have no grasp of history; as evidenced by your description of the cause of ww2. Throwing pseudo academic descriptions at us every chance you get doesn't prove you more intelligent or knowledgeable than anyone else here, it just proves that you are a decent bullsh*tter.

Better yet, why don't developers just put the money directly into Healy's campaign fund? I'm sure he'd be willing to keep an eye on it! Oh, wait, they probably already did. Good luck getting the city interested in pushing them to do the right thing for us, the residents.

Still, loading a gun is not a difficult task. Not that it would make a difference, considering the ammo would probably be locked in the same safe anyway.

Wow, an armchair historian complaining about an "armchair philosopher".
Its absurd To assert that the philosophy you described is the primary reason for Hitler's climb to power and the emergence of the Nazi party. In reality it was much more complicated than that.
You also described said philosophy as the reason we fought world war 2, which is an even more ridiculous supposition. Not to get off topic, but the US does not fight wars on ideological grounds, and ww2 was no exception.

Why does this idiot have a loaded gun locked in a safe? If you have time to unlock the safe, then you have time to load it. And if you have these kind of valuables at home why wouldn't you do a better job securing your windows?

This type of neighborhood isolating development is extremely common all over JC. Newport is separate from the rest of downtown, which in turn is seperated from Journal Sq and Mcginley sq by 78, the train tracks, the cemetery and Dickinson High. Try driving up Montgomery from exchange place. What is a prime location for a commercial strip is useless because of those large apt buildings surrounded by massive parking lots. This is interrupted briefly by the Van Vorst neighborhood and then after Brunswick there's incredibly ugly developments, a couple schools, housing projects and more and more parking lots. Just like Newark ave, this area could be a link between downtown and the rest of JC, but has been developed in such a way that it instead acts as a buffer to separate. It makes no sense why a city would encourage development that takes the worst aspects of suburban living and discourages the best parts of urban living. JC ends up being densely populated, yet in many parts of the city people must drive or take busses to mini malls to do their shopping. JSQ doesn't even have access to a park, yet there are tons of parking lots (we wouldn't want to inconvenience to suburban commuters!).

Its actually a quick walk to JSQ even on the other side of the tracks (western portion of Van Reipen), I think there's a shortcut that goes through behind the Loews from one of the parallel streets, and even if you decide to walk down Tonelle to Kennedy to get to JSQ its less than 5 blocks anyway, very close. Its not a bad little neighborhood there, I looked at places there before settling on mine in a different part of JSQ, and when I've driven through the area at night it doesn't seem sketchy.

Does anyone know of a glass shop that does quality work? I need some glass cut for kitchen cabinets. The only place in Jersey City that I have been to is Eagle Glass in Mcginley Sq, and they are butchers.

In general the best parts of this neighborhood are between Summit and Westside from East to West, and Montgomery and JSQ North to South. The Nicest blocks being those directly around Saint Peters, and most of the blocks between Kennedy and Bergen.

No one has really mentioned yet that its quite a long walk to JSQ from Jewett, I live by Montgomery and Bergen and the walk is long enough, Jewett is several blocks farther south. Unless you really love to walk, you'll definitely get sick of it, especially in the rain and snow.

The "bad neighborhoods" are JC. Downtown is a small part of a city with many different neighborhoods. If you don't like that, why don't you just move to Hoboken.

Because its not bagged in steel. Plastic bags are easily ripped open by other items in the trash, or if not tied securely they can just dump their contents. Not to mention the fact that its disrespectful to throw anything out in someone else's yard.

"Two men kidnap and rob a Jersey City woman near Journal Square
By The Jersey Journal
May 19, 2010, 1:14PM
A Jersey City woman told police that she was kidnapped and robbed near Journal Square Monday evening.

At 1:16 a.m. yesterday, police responded to Enos Place and Sip Avenue on a report of a kidnapping and found the 21-year-old Forrest Avenue woman "crying and visibly shaken," reports said.

The victim told officers she was walking at Academy and Bergen avenues at 9 p.m. when a man grabbed her and forced her into the backseat of a four-door car, got into the passenger seat and she was told to lay down.

The men stole $40 from her before pulling over in the Square and entering a building. She grabbed her cell phone out of the front seat and ran, officials said.

Police are checking security cameras in the area to see if any captured images of the crime, reports said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Jersey City police tip line at (201) 547-JAIL."

First off, you must be a realtor to really take offense at that. Second, anyone who has ever gone through the apt renting or house buying process knows that a majority of the ads you see are not completely honest. How many places say "close to transportation" when there's nothing more than a city bus stop down the block? How about the the relabeling of neighborhoods which we were originally discussing? Obviously there are some honest realtors out there, and I have dealt with a couple myself, but many are shady enough to warrant caution whenever dealing with them. Trust is something that needs to be earned. And I'm glad that you brought up car salesmen, because they have a much deserved reputation for the exact same reason!

Never trust a realtor! when I lived in Brooklyn I used to see ads all the time for apts in "East Williamsburg", which is just a nice way to say Bushwick, I think by now Bushwick has been hippersterized enough that its no longer such a bad word!

Even the most spartan pub is almost 100% wood inside (the bar, the tables, the chairs, the floors, the ceiling etc.) with walls that are usually wood-paneled (partially, or whole) and ALL pubs serve Guinness (fresh from the barrel, never in a can or bottle) and you are just as likely to see old and young people inside...

the ones in downtown JC are only Irish in name. The vibe is definitely not there. All the fancy food is also a tell-tale sign of a fake Irish pub. Pub food is usually simple, filling grub that is hardly ever fancy, and definitely not expensive. Usually some soups, some sandwiches, etc. Some pubs in Ireland do serve up very nice meals, though.

Right on, you hit the nail on the head.
I wish liquor licenses weren't so crazy expensive in JC, I'd love to have my own real pub!
