It does not affect service dogs if it is indeed a true licensed service dog.

Service animals are animals that are individually trained to perform tasks for people with disabilities ? such as guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling wheelchairs, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, or performing other special tasks. Service animals are working animals, not pets.

This is what the police told me today. (And when I asked if there was anything we could do, they said, "Move.")

I am a tenant in the building, and I feel that my personal safety is endangered.

This has been going on for years. The woman that lives with him just like ( his wife) gets verbally and physically abused. SHE is not willing to file a complaint against HIM. Do not waste the cops time.
Yes i suggest move also.

Did you see who? I have a feeling that this is the people that moved into that brownstone across the street a few weekends ago.
I wonder if they do not know the laws.

And what about all those strollers. Those are worse than anything else! Those double wides are out of control. And people, really? You HAVE to bring it inside Basic where there is already no room? Please....

Look, don't put all dog owners as being jerks and I won't lump all children the same way. I know there are a lot of dogs that need bigger runs to get their exercise. They just want to play ball. That is it. I am amazed at the fascist tendencies that are happening about this park, which I am sure I am very much paying for as well. So stop. Please.... stop

The comparison of children to dogs is annoying. Animals are not human. Do I really need to say more?

Your tax dollars or whatever it is that you think you are paying will go to waste if those dogs rip that park lawn to shreds. Open your window and throw your large bills out it would be quicker!
My taxes went up already and they are about to go up again. The trees in the park do not have money growing on them, we all paid/will pay for the park.

Have you seen what jones park and the embankment look like. Hamilton Park can look like that too!
" They just want to play ball" is going to ruin what they just built and we paid for.

All dog owners are not jerks, I am a dog owner and I am not a jerk and neither are some of the people on this thread that i am arguing with. We just have a diffrent way of seeing things.
I would like an opportunity to enjoy this park before the politics of this city force me to move!

I also agree about the strollers in Basic but then again who wants to argue with a new mother that still has hormones the size of a large country running thru her!

As far as fascist tendencies go..... That is a whole other thread

Why is it so important for you to be in that park with your dogs if your NOT going to be allowed to let them run amuck.
Standing or walking on the grass with out your mutts is 100% okay.

Wouldnt you walk your dogs on the side walk anyways if you don't use the runs?

I dont get it!!! Are you actually fighting to be able to walk a dog on the grass or is the underlying reason your arguing this situation beacuse you really want to throw a ball on the grass and let your dog chase it????
If it is the later I will tell you now IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN

This is about allowing people whose dogs cannot go into dog-runs to use the park. Many people have dogs that are rescues etc and they don't do well in confined spaces with lots of other dogs. These people should still be able to walk their dogs in the park. It is their park too. BTW? A dog free park would be the stupidest idea ever. Do you really want a park where homeless people and criminals are given free reign at night? The dog walkers are the eyes and ears of the neighborhood. Anyway, you can't keep us out so might as well put it out of your mind.

I understand and respect your statement about dogs that do not do well in confined spaces, etc..... but those dogs would be just as fine ( better beacuse less populated) to walk their dogs on the side walk.
Mind you I have one of those dogs that cannot go into a run or really play nice around other dogs so.......... I call bull shit to your statement.......... Thou I still respect it................

Funny thing about that is: Some people grab their mail on their way out the door and read it while walking their dog(s). The crap advertising goes in the trash with the dog shit. How unfair is that??? I have done this in the past a few times. Not that it's alot, a few pieces of paper, but still it has an adress on it and I am putting it where it belongs in the trash!

When I was out walking the dogs I saw a moveing truck last night and I have a feeling that those large boxes came from the people moveing in/out of the apt. near jersey/8th. As far as the trash in the can on 8th and Mcwilliams I also saw my neighbor cleaning out his car and dumping a bunch of stuff including an old beach chair. I gave him the look but....... He does this ALOT.

I live right by La Rustique and was ordering from them every Saturday night, without fail. Charlie, the owner, made a great pie and life was good. A few months ago he hired someone to make the pies and another to take phone orders. As other readers have already stated: things went downhill - the sauce was straight from a can, orders were mixed up. I had to break up with La Rustique.

Went back to Carmines - for awhile. I'd order, hang up the phone and "ding-dong", the doorbell would sound with delivery of those pies. Not really sure how they managed it though I suspect that they've outfitted the glove compartments of the delivery fleet with pizza ovens and simply troll around the neighborhood, awaiting an order. They are THAT fast.

At the urging of many here I caved and gave Larry & Joe's a jingle. Grabbed my friend and dove into a large, extra, cheese pie. Monsterously good - the sauce was flavorful, the crust medium thick and the toppings fresh. I'm embarrased for Charlie of La Rustique to see the Larry & Joe's delivery car pulling up but a girl's gotta do what she's gotta do.

I'm with you on that sister. It doesnt get any better than Larry and Joe's for me!!! Till they change or screw it up they are #1 on my Jersey City Pizza list

Yes everyone is okay and got out. Very scarey. I asked a firefighter what happened and he said they thought it may have been a mattress that caught fire on the first floor.

The jerk landlord was out there watching. I also know that the people that live on the third floor have 2 dogs, and the fire escape was in such bad shape that he could hardly get down alone. Thank God someone was there to help him with his two dogs.

What a shame that Vlad gets away with so much crap in this neighborhood.
I am glad that everyone is okay

i'm just saying the NEW developments should have to have this incorporated...or at the very least, incentivize it. by mitigating stormwater runoff from huge paved areas (street trees, rain gardens, etc.) and roofs (green roofs), you have less water running into the sewers during a rainfall event, and less overflow.

maybe if newer developments around here did that, more people would be aware of the stormwater issues, and would start to incorporate them into their own renoventations and such. or not.

but for all of this development to be going on and having nothing like this required or encouraged is just plain dumb.

you can find tons of info online about stormwater runoff issues...and JC has combined sewer systems, meaning when the sewers overflow, there's raw sewage being combined with the stormwater runoff.

All I know is that I have been aware of the so called stormwater issues for years now.

But that doesnt help the water that is seeping in thru the bricks of my building with this storm. Ugh I hate this storm!

It turns out that, for the last couple of years, the brothers were working out at a place in Queens, but now they're quite happy to be back here as part of Buon Appetito's expansion from Bayonne into Jersey City.

In my opinion, Buon Appetito's pizza is a heck of a lot better than the handful of pizza places I've tried while living in Downtown Jersey City over the last 7 years.

I look forward to grabbing a slice from there again soon (and maybe a sandwich and a salad too).

YUM!

+1 !

I like thin slice pizza, made fresh with lots of cheese and since Lombardi's closed downtown a few years ago, Buon Appetito's beats them all, including Larry & Joe's. However if you like mushy and bloated crust there are plenty of those in JC.

Buon Appetito!

Yes that is the cop and fire fighter bar, I live in the neighbor hood and to not feel you at a hood bar it is the best place to go in the neighbood of West Bergen or West Side Avenue. When they get to know you are from the neighborhood, you can find the special privledges of going in the and staying late and for some like the cops and fire fighters very late after they have locked the doors, never have done it myself but I have heard it can be classified as the only 24/7 bar in the city since they are so in with the fire fighters and cops it is not even funny. Went there one St Pattys Day for Jersey City and boy was it packed, more packed that I had ever seen a bar in Jersey City on St Pattys Day for Jersey Citys celebration, the one downtown on Marin gets them too, but this one has both inside and outdoor space. Now this bar as many say is a mixed crowd and gets people from all over as it is well known for the best burgers in Jersey City since they are homemade and cooked on a grill, they must have 16-20 taps, since they have 2 different sets of taps with different brands on each. They are a cash only bar so no credit cards like downtown. You won't find as many blacks in the bar as you might think, because the neighorhood in the area is really italians, irish and other europeans, so it was surprising to see a man stating someone disrespected his girls and breaking car windows in the parking lot. It has been known before with cops having been told to get out with theirs guns before, and sergeants called in to get them out and leave the guns in the cars more than once.

I can't figure if this sounds like an ad for the bar or???

What prompted my response was the part where you stated " You won't find as many blacks in the bar as you might think, because the neighorhood in the area is really italians, irish and other europeans, so it was surprising to see a man stating someone disrespected his girls and breaking car windows in the parking lot."

Finally. the winners.
After six months, 1,000 slices and 9,000 miles on the Munchmobile, the Pizza Patrol sat down and picked New Jersey's best pizza.
It wasn?t easy.
The Pizza Patrol sampled plenty of mediocre pizza during our three-season search, as the weekly reviews attest. We also enjoyed plenty of great pizza, which made the selection of winners difficult.

Our six overall winners span a range of looks and locales ? from a tiny pizza parlor in Raritan Borough and a strip mall pizzeria in Lyndhurst to a no-bathroom, no credit-card legend in Trenton and a spacious sports bar/pizzeria in Orange.
Reactions from our winners ran from joy and jubilation to surprise and disbelief. Allie DeLucia, owner of DeLucia?s Brick Oven Pizza in Raritan, our plain pizza champion. kept repeating the same word ? "Really???
Yes, Allie, really.

"I?m a true believer that anything can be improved,?? said Charlie Wilson, owner of La Rustique Cafe in Jersey City, our pick for best margherita pizza in New Jersey.

http://www.nj.com/entertainment/dinin ... rol_names_best_pizza.html

La rustique is my pick for sit and stay. Once their pizza goes in a box it really changes things drastically.
My #1 is by far Larry and Joes for a delivary. They are awsome!!!

Action needs to be taken ASAP!

There are so many things wrong with this post that I won't even start picking it apart. What I will say is that it is a major FAIL when you state that it is the

No one has ever disregarded dog shit in this community, as a matter of fact this is the 10000000000000 time that this has been written about in this forum.

What action are you going to take since you feel it is needed ASAP. I want to know what YOU are going to do? Or should I just assume that you are here bitching?

I personally have handed people baggies, yelled at people, shamed people, and even called the cops. I even almost got beaten on one or two times by big bad men.
