I live on 3rd so I could be in there a lot if good coffee, early hours open ( 7am-8am maybe, not slacker hours), bagels, croissants would be nice and enough room to sit down for all.

Scofflaws have never been a priority. I moved to JC in '82 and in '84 The 1st new bar in years was opened by the President of the Tavern's Assn., called JC Winston's. The Mngr of said place was walked out in handcuffs one day as she had run up over $14,000+ in parking tickets when tickets were $10. This was before zoned parking permits and there were many who'd park in JC downtown, go to NYC and pay the ticket which was cheaper thaan parking in NYC!

So how many years did it take that person to accumulate 14k+ in tickets? Was there no NJ state law that prescribed writing it off the books after 3 yrs.?

I think Councilman Fulop's idea of folding the JCPA into the Police Dept. is an excellent idea resulting in savings for the City, more revenue without territorial disputes and a continuing erosion of patronage jobs and nepotism and thus more transparency in government. Not to mention the end to buying buildings worth less than market price, in fact bought at a premium, (was owner of bldg a crony or political pay-to-play donor?), approved by the council with only Fulop, I believe, voting against this waste of taxpayer's monies as they didn't want to spend the $500 for a new assessment which would of course pointed out their wasteful or purposeful intent. In addition the Post office is the only tenant besides the JCPA and not guaranteed to renew their lease amidst national closure of smaller post offices.

but the idea of that park doesn't suck so don't take it the wrong way, it is a unique park that not many cities can say they have, but it is a park nonetheless. Just because it is connected to a bike & hike trail doesn't mean it will get people to come from all around to visit.

Pferm201, are you sure you read? I made it clear that the projections were a Travel and Tourism study compiled to show what were already proven revenue from current $$'s being spent together with projected revenue that would be generated by a "bike & hike trail" which shows it would get people "to come from all around to visit".

im want the embankment to stay in place but to make it into another park? i think this city is taking building a park a little too the extreme, i think we have a great number of parks with still more parks being proposed to be built. Instead can it be a botanical garden or a small zoo where animals of that size can be kept, nothing like an elephant or such, but something along those lines. i like the current plan so its not to say its sucks.

It just seems that creativity for this city is really low, and this could allow for someone to come up with a rejuvenating idea for the city and to bring people into the city to"chill" instead of having them here only becuase they are on their way to ny. and having another park wont bring people here just to "chill"

Those trucks are disgusting with guys taking their Pee in a gatorade bottle because they can't stop if they have business and they sure as hell don't wash their hands afterwards. If you want to eat from the truck eat at "your own risk". Was it the hot dog/taco/pita/wrap/salad/hamburger that made you sick or was it the fact that the slob serving it doesn't wash his hands after doing his business that makes you sick? You tell me where he goes to do his business, does he shut his car down...doubtful...you cannot be that naieve !

I've seen taco, korean bbq and crepe trucks line up near starbucks or at Grove plaza. I've seen men and women from these trucks go to Mc Donald's and Starbucks where I suspect they wash their hands and do their business.

We all know that many restaurants have poor sanitary conditions unless you are naive.

These food trucks are like roaming gypsies taking the business away from establishments.

JC residents alway whinge about there not being enough cafe, diners, pubs and bars that provide food - well guess what? The lunch time business crowds is what they rely on to pay leases, staff and yes taxes.

These premise establishments, can not rely on locals to keep them in business - we are cheap, caught in the financial struggle and always demand high expectations when we do finally go out.
[...]

I say dump the food trucks from our streets - Now ask yourself how many of these gypsies float into NY ?

The trucks succeed as they offer what brick n mortar don't: high quality food at a cheap price and fast service.

NYC has plenty of vendors who may push carts but offer a greater diversity of food then you will find in most of JC.

The Hymans will lose a 2nd time before the Zoning Board and they know it! That's why the end round attempt to settle now.

The Embankment Preservation Coalition gets to finally present their case on May 18th after months of hearings and delays by the Hymans.

While they get to cross and continue their side show of interruptions, it's only a matter of time and they know it.

FERC has not announced the release of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Once they do, the public has 45 days to comment which is why we are collecting signatures to our petition in advance of this notification.

ALL petitions submitted online go to us and we will print and mail them to FERC with plenty of time.

DATE: May 3, 2011

NO Gas Pipeline issues Petition
to Stop Spectra Energy Gas pipeline in advance
of FERC?s Environmental Impact Statement

NO Gas Pipeline has released a petition to stop Spectra Energy?s gas pipeline for citywide distribution as well as making it available online.

FERC recently sent a letter to Spectra compelling them to answer questions by May 13 before FERC issues the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for public comments. The public will have 45 days to comment from time of release. Subsequent to final comments, FERC will then provide a final ruling as to Spectra?s pipeline.

?We think that FERC will rule on behalf of Spectra based on their past approvals of 100% of filings.? said Dale Hardman of No Gas Pipeline. ?Spectra were collecting petition signatures on behalf of their pipeline with mis-leading information as to job creation which we refute on our site under two articles and on our petition.

"NO gas Pipeline petitions will create media interest and bring focus on Spectra before their shareholders. We have volunteers throughout the city that can simply download our petition, print it, collect signatures and either mail them to FERC themselves or deliver them to us, and we will mail them. We are a DIY site and encourage volunteers to either use our form or print their own.?

The Eastern Environmental Law Center, who also intervened on behalf of NJ Sierra and Food & Water Watch, represents NO Gas Pipeline.

I' know Sue Mack and she's been effective personally at the board and decisive when she handled Facilities. I've also observed the board candidates on cable and Sue was the only one to being up the waste and uncompleted work at PS4, leaking roofs and HVAC that didn't work.

I met, spoke with and recognize all the accomplishments of Carol Harddison Arnold's hard work on behalf of public schools.

Finally. I've had the enjoyable time to speak at lemgth with Marvin Adames and I was at the largest attended candidate forum this year, sponsored by the N.A.A.C.P., held at the Mary Bethune Center.

All three of Fulop's endorsed candidates, Carol Harrison-Arnold, Sue Mack and Marvin Adames were the strongest in presentation and seemed they could easily work together and with the board for change.

I concede that Mr. Youssef had the most passion in his presentation, However, he never stated the obvious, which is he would have to resign his teaching job to serve on the BOE. Would he do so?

The campaign of "Vote For Mom" that Vidya Gagadin is running forgets that our candidates are 2 Moms & a Dad

Whoever you select, VOTE! Polls open upat 7AM till 9PM

Despite the dis-information spread by Healy\'s flyers suggesting that you can\'t vote on your way to work. Well you can!

Thanks to our elected candidate from last year, Sterlinfg Waterman. for leading this changei n voting time.

I, Dale Hardman/BrightMoment, will vote for and endorse:

[2A]Carol Harrison-Arnold

[5A] Sue Mack

[10A]Marvin Adames

So again - the correct times are 7Am to 9PM!

Could it be purposeful? Since a larger turnout increases the impact of all voters city-wide, what better way to disenfranchise the body politic then to distribute erroneous voting times with a candidate (Sue Mack) who decided NOT to run with their slate when approached as she thought the better slate Carol Harrison-Arnold and Marvin Adames.

If enough folks believe the incorrect voting times AND that Sue Mack is with Healy's candidates, many may choose not to vote entirely.

A masterful, sleazy way continues as it always has with these folks.

Carol Arnold Harrison - She sounds tough and intimidating. Maybe she should be superintendent instead and whip some butt. Too bad she is part of a political machine.

Marvin Adames - Seems like a nice person. Somewhat green and also part of a machine. Maybe one day?.

Hey holdonaminute11, why do you say that 2 of the 3 candidates above are "part of a political machine" ? Just because Councilman Fulop supports this slate doesn't mean he picked them OR that he controls how they vote OR what they say!!

I was also part of the committee that took applications from many prospects who wanted to run with Councilman Fulop's support. Fulop had literally no input into this committee's decisions, nor did the hundreds of Fulop's supporters. Those chosen to serve on this committee were parents, mothers, fathers, and singles such as myself. A highly diverse group of folks.

We felt this group could work together as a team, which you need on the school board, since unless you have 5 votes in the 9 member committee all is just conversation.

Your throwawy comments on serious candidates are disparaging, misogynistic, and innacurate. However, thanks for playing.

facials11, give me a call (201-238-5987) or email me (pbellanboy@aol.com). Let's walk through Ward F together so we can see exactly who's known in the ward. Carol's record is unimpeachable - which is precisely why you cast vague smears. How many Ward F (or any other ward) blocks have you helped revitalize? I know someone has been spreading rumors about her professional qualifications. What exactly are you "unclear" about? Just as she says, she is an attorney specializing in insurance, frequently called as an expert witness in her field.

But let's not just trade claims. Call the Office of Attorney Ethics 609-530-4008. Option 2 gives disciplinary history: admitted to bar 1988, no complaints ever filed, no disciplinary matters ever. Period. Licensing 609-292-8079 says she is an active member of the NJ Bar.

Marvin Adames devotes his volunteer time to helping kids stay out of the court system, and I'll bet he knows the Jersey City schools better than you do. I have heard him talk in substance about the JERSEY CITY schools. Although, last time I checked, our system and the Newark system look pretty similar in performance, in bloat, in budgets, in student population, and in their challenges.

In my opinion, Sue Mack is also a strong candidate because of her experience. You may not like every one of her votes, but she does have a record for responsiveness to the ordinary people of Jersey City, and she is really good at helping others navigate the byzantine labyrinths of the Board's bureaucracy.

facials11, if you want to talk about pigeons, put your own credentials out there. Whose coop do you roost in? And if you reply, have the guts to sign your real name to your attempts at character assassination.

Is that toast I smell burning?

Dan and pchops, I agree with you that your candidate has good qualifications, however we need those who can serve by working with others on the board and not just be the "Vote For the Mom" candidate, but serve all the children, some who are dads, some raised by their grandmothers, aunts or cousins and some, from Katrina's damage who live here with strangers become friends.

I think you two, Dan and pcjops, post positive reasons to vote for your candidate. However, facials11 is a classic example of how supporters can become your own worst enemy. Those with hidden political agendas such as convicted Mayor Gerald McCann, posting under hidden avatars and other supporters who cannot face the transparency that Paul Bellan-Boyer brings. My suggestion is you point out to "facials11" ,if you know her/him, let them know how badly their slurs and smears only reflect badly on this corrupt way of deceiving voters.

I've seen Dr Del Monte for over a decade. He is the consumate professional and also friendly, cheerful and extremely competent! I've had orthotics, custom shoes, and more, all done through either office whether his private office on Washinton St, across from post office in Provident bldg. or at his clinic in Hoboken.

If you go to see him even one time you will see why we all rave about him, his nurses and his office staff!

such a waste of paper. i signed up on a website somewhere to stop junk mail and credit card offers. it worked except for the junk from local businesses, which i will keep throwing on the floor until my mail carrier gets the point and stops putting it in my box.

Why take it out on the mail man? He's just doing his job. There's no way to stop that mail you consider "junk" from reaching you that I know about. Will post office stop all mail delivered to "occupant" at your address? What if it has your name on it? Anyone know?

Whatever's in your vestibule or doorway is your responsibility to throw away by either your condo board or if outside and winds up in front of your place by ordinannce.
