Re: Transformers - Hazardous?

Transformers to not emit microwaves. They are coils of copper wire wrapped around an iron core. They do give off an electromagnetic field, and nobody currently knows whether that's bad for you or not. Some studies say yes, some say no. (Thanks, studies)

Look up transformer emissions, transformer radiation, transformer emf. Exposure drops very quickly the further you get from the transformer, but it also matters how much current the transformer is carrying. How many feet would you estimate the transformers are from your living area?

Outrageous. The proper usage is two fewer drug dealers.

That guy really gets around. I see him downtown as often as I see him wandering around JFK near the state highway.

If you want to contact him directly, I wouldn't do it in person, but you can reach him here under the username Heights.

I love how they are resisting the expense of complying with an ADA order to install an elevator, but are happy to have a nearly 24/7 maintenance cycle on the escalators. There is no hope for us.

Exchange Place and WTC are the only stations that are closed on weekends. You can take the PATH from Newark as far as JSQ and switch to a 33rd street train.

Yeah, everything was backed up. There was too much water going into the storm drains to allow residential sewage to empty out. We had almost 6" of water in the back at one point. Last time it happened was June of last year, when we had a lot of crazy rain for a few days.

It's just as easy to take Summit north to Montgomery or even Summit > Magnolia > Newark for locals. I don't think it will be much of an issue.

I would not go near this area all day due to the nature of the building. I am sure there will be an ongoing investigation. Not sure if this was the place where two of the 9-11 masterminds were or was it the place on Kennedy at JSQ. There have been problems here for many years. The people that frequently visited the building would collect parking tickets constantly. Perhaps the fire was due to an insurance issue. I'm sure this will be ironed out during the the search by various government agencies.
