Parkman, those are some nice photos, thanks for sharing.

Atushi, I think you have seen this site before, but maybe it's of interest to others too:

And here is an interesting, 100 years old, photo showing a busy street scene and the buildings where Grove Point is now standing:

Already in the 1940s, many of the buildings were boarded up and empty. That was the start of JCs gradual decline that continued until the 1990s.

And from the photo album in Dahood's link, this is a fascinating photo of Columbus Ave across from where Grove Point is now standing.

When this photo was taken, they were dismantling the elevated Railroad that gave Railroad Ave it's name :

Here are old and new photos of the 'unlivable' building on corner of Wayne and Barrow :

It's hard to believe that it's the same building...

143 Mercer was sold to a Hawthrown Properties LLC - so a company. But this company is not Dixon / US Masters, and does not own any other properties in JC.

To find the properties that Dixon / US MASTERS have bought go here:
http://tax1.co.monmouth.nj.us/cgi-bin ... &out_type=0&district=0906

Type in %MASTER% , with percentage signs, in Owner Name field, and click submit...

The database is current as of about a month ago.

Sorry to reply so late; we had a good experience with Advanced Cleaning and Restoration - www.acrhomeinc.com - after having a bad experience with a Brooklyn company and needing to redo the work over again.

It's true. I wanted to like MWL, but their stuff just wasn't very good, and if I'm going to eat dessert, it better be worthwhile!

The last time I went in there wasn't long ago - a late weekend afternoon, to get a coffee. I stood there waiting by the counter, watching the owner and two others talk in the kitchen. After 2-3 minutes, the owner came over and told me they were closed. Really? Then lock the door or put up a closed sign. Or if your business is hurting, sell me a coffee!

It is a bit of a bummer because they were very active in the community, but I'm excited to see what will replace them.

We ended up lucking out with timing and getting Matry Anderson - they did a great job.

agree 100% about doing a study of ridership and sending a greater number and percentage of trains through JC than Hob.

also wish they'd use some of our extra funds to make more stations elevator accessible for the disabled and those with children, rather than on legal fees fighting the Fed mandate to do so.

I second this request, but for our inside wood staircase - the steps are pulling away from the stringers.
Also, if you've had this done, any estimates on what it cost?

We ended up going with Jack Pereira for the repointing in our basement, and they did a great job, even more than they promised to do. Thanks for the referral everyone!

Hi,

I'm looking for someone to do repointing and sealing on my brick rowhouse, and I see a lot of great reviews of Jack Pereira (JP New Construction) and PMJ Construction (same person?).

But both the JP and PMJ websites are defunct, and I'm wondering he's still in business/recommended.

Thanks!
