here is a free one for NY harbor:

I would avoid Acadia in July and August as the crowds can be unbearable. You're better off visiting the White Mountain or Green Mountain National Forests.

And yes Acadia is the only National Park in the northeast, but there are more than 50 National Park sites within a days drive of Jersey City.

The OP is going in September. None of what you mentioned can compare, even remotely, with Acadia. It's one of the places you should see before you die.

That was at the WTC, by the way

I know, next time get down there a few minutes early. This isn't Europe where trains actually leave on schedule.

I get annoyed when 1) they don't stick to the schedule and
2) close the doors in the first car before the rest of the cars.

I don't like waiting on the platform and try to time getting down there just in time.

Last night as I came down the stairs toward the first car, it was 2 minutes before scheduled departure time and the conductor had already closed the doors on the first car.

I looked down the platform and the doors on the other cars were still open. I started to run for those doors but then they closed and I watched as the train pulled out a full minute early.

Looking at the new sidewalk between Grove and Barrow, why are they not doing the whole sidewalk? They seem to be leaving patches of the old sidewalk. It would be so much nicer if it was uniform. I wonder if they are they planning to finish that later?

Unfortunately, I have to use the docs in the network. I'm specifically looking for reviews of the two on Bergen Ave. Or any of those I listed in Manhattan.

However, I suppose the other recommendations would be useful for those not tied to a network.

Thanks.

Jersey Avenue between Newark and Montgomery, at first glance, seems to have a lot of nice storefront architecture and one can visualize a really nice shopping street there. Hopefully it will happen at some point in the future.

However, in recent years, stores that sell clothing/shoes/gourmet foods/books have all failed on that stretch. Unless you're offering very good value or filling a need, I'd look for another location, maybe Grove St or the Newport mall.

Good luck.

According to the bank, you have to get the police to ask for the camera recordings for them to be reviewed. My friend filed a police report , but they did not follow through (not JCPD). She finally got frustrated and gave up.

Over the past few years, I have been working with many Indians from India.

Every single one I've met, has exhibited the same traits.

They are hard working, smart, calm, soft spoken, gentle, well mannered and practice good hygiene.

If everyone else here behaved the same way, we'd be much better off.

Many of them are in I.T. and are required to carry a lap top computer back and forth to work, hence the big backpacks.

Now, let's get back on topic...

Brickhaus Fitness has free karate classes twice a week. Of course, you have to join the gym.

They have an awesome 9th degree black belt instructor.

The class size is so small, it's almost like personalized instruction.

This deserves a post of it's own. Sava's - Polish Cafeteria has opened in what was formerly Stanleys on Grove St.

346 Grove Street Jersey City, NJ 07302
201-451-1901

They have a variety of hearty, delicious, Polish home cooked food, in serving trays, hot and ready to eat. It's cafeteria style , so no waiter to tip. I just ate there and I recommend it.

This gym is fantastic, a great addition to the neighborhood.

Spacious and naturally lit, beautifully designed, with a large variety of top notch equipment.

Loads of free weights, all kinds of weight lifting machines and every kind of cardio machine, with personal TV's on each machine!

The locker room is beautifully tiled with steam room, sauna, and private showers.

The class space is huge offering everything; Yoga, Spinning, Step, Sculpting, Martial Arts-Karate etc., etc.

The Karate class on Weds and Fri at 6:30 has an awesome instructor who studied under Aaron Banks. That class alone is worth the price of the gym.

The gym is even a nice place to just hang out, with a juice bar set up like a real bar. Lounging areas and TV's all over the place.

It's only one block from the Grove St. Path station and
they have an arrangement with the parking lot across the street for free parking.

I have no affiliation with the gym..

JCHeights,

You're correct. Lustiger is an excellent dentist, I've used him.

However, is it my imagination or do they seem to push that 'deep scaling' treatment on everyone?

(deep scaling = they numb your mouth and scrape under your gums, it has to be done over 4 sessions, once for each quadrant of your mouth. the procedure is only 50% covered by insurance).
