"...and the potential downside is God knows what..."

You my friend will never get my business again. If you don't let people in based on what they are portrayed on in a tv show, then you should perform background checks on every patron that comes in. There is a park around the corner where drug deals go on 24/7, and I've seen those people go in that store and come out with liquor. You really need a reality check pal. A real reality check, not an MTV one.

Absolutely correct. This effete snob will let you stand at the counter with your thumb up your *** waiting to check out if he's discussing a wine with another patron. After this crap, I'm done with that place too. Also, I just discovered that the little liquor store on Grove north of Newark has MUCH better prices.

My girlfriend and I said the same thing. It's one thing to refuse camera crews, but it's another to refuse an individual. This is Jersey City, NOT the segregated SOUTH!! I'll walk a few extra blocks to get a bottle of wine.

Pardon my ignorance.... For the past 12 years, I've lived mere blocks from the area you are describing and never once heard it described as the 'village.' Is this a new thing?
. The only new thing is some transplants that move into the area and don't give a dam about the history of this city.

The Village neighborhood is very safe. Everything East of the Turnpike is safe. Other safe areas: Lincoln Park, St Peters area, Heights, Droyers Point, JSQ, Hilltop...

Large JCPD presence on Jersey & Third

Last night around 12:30 I noticed a large police presence at the building next to C-Town. There were about 10 marked and unmarked JCPD vehicles on Jersey & Third. They also had officers at the rear of C-Town on Third Street. Anyone know what happened?

Just read 70 Columbus received tax incentives from the state. It's nice to start seeing some more projects popping up all over the city.

Pray for the families of the victims. Very sad. Herman Chandler on the other hand should be used as a speed bump on Grand St.

Is 12 planters a little excessive for one block?

Hoboken is removing all of the old meters by the end of the year. They decided that the multi meter pay stations were working very well. Too bad some people can't read in this city!

Why can't they ever give us the race of the suspect?

I would rather see them install a slightly raised cross-walk that would slow motor vehicle traffic. Oh wait... I forgot the city wants Columbus Drive to be a quick way for the Goldman workers to get out of the city.

This plan is huge for this area of the city! This neighborhood has plenty of potential. New developments over the past decade have already begun to improve the area. Along with the college and some of most beauitful pre-war buildings in Jersey City. I would love to see a trolley run the entire length of Montgomery Street. From West Side Ave to the River.

I was just in Boston this past weekend and they have bike sharing systems all over the city. I would love to see a system like this in Jersey City. But being realistic we still do not have a single bike lane. It's pathetic!
