UPS have a lot more drop-off locations in JC. For example - Key Foods and Mastrolia Pharmacy downtown.

What's the latest on PTE and the tax bills wrt rental income? If passive rental income is treated at 25% - there would a pickup in buy-to-rent sales. It also remains to be seen whether JC benefits from a bigger shift out of NYC.

What we have is a lot of uncertainty -and prices are likely to drop while people wait on the sidelines. People will come back in to the market pretty quickly after the reval and tax changes are complete. The proposed tax changes may prop up JC prices - given the bigger impact in Manhattan. I wouldn't expect the uncertainty discount to last long...

Blue Apron have serious logistics issues. Missing ingredients every week. Last week they sent 2 entirely wrong recipes. I gave them every chance to fix and deliver. Best they could do was a Blue Apron credit.
Told them - you don't walk into McDonalds. Ask for Big Mac,Fries and Coke. Given a chicken-burger, Fries and Sprite. Then be happy with a refund and told to come back next week... That's how these dumbf@@ks run their business...

All that indicates is that the building owners are making the best of the under-utilized parking. And local businesses and commuters are getting parking spaces at fire-sale prices - subsidized in part by Jersey City. I used to rent a similar parking space in a waterfront building for $100/month for ease of commute to downtown Manhattan. No doubt properties near the waterfront or PATH can fill their spaces. Parking lots elsewhere look like the lot at Newport mall.

Nope. The pilot (city revenue) is based on number of units x sq footage. The parking space doesn't enter that equation. If eventually those units convert to condos, the parking space would count very little towards a tax assessment, even if the parking was deeded - since it's not considered habitable space. There is some benefit to the developer for have some available parking, and typically that's an add-on charge to a rental. But I'd bet every developer in JC would prefer to build more units and less parking - since most of it goes to waste.

By setting parking minimums for new development, the city is effectively subsidizing that parking out of my tax dollars. Without the parking requirement, the developers could build more units and supply greater tax revenue. How is that any different to your constant complaint about tax abatements?

Seems a few of you parrot the talk when it comes to deregulation and cutting out red tape...but where do you think Trump stands on the issue?
Why not let the market decide how many parking spaces are needed? You think we'll need more parking in 10-20 years with uber, ridesharing, and self-driving vehicles?

It's a pretty simple solution. The businesses that want to stay open past 10pm or so pay the $60k/year or so for security - or hire their own security that patrol the plaza.

Agree on the snow clean-up. Great job. But why is all the road digging going on over the winter? My street isn't cleared - likely because the plows can't clear streets with the metal plates covering the excavation. Speculation: is it driven by the risk of losing federal funds for roads and infrastructure - with the new Trump administration?

There are very few low-cost home security options unless you are tech savvy. Over the years - the most dependable and low-cost (relatively) diy system for me - has been my logitech alert system.
Other things you might try: - Cable/internet provider - might have something. - Canary: Blurb is promising. Personally wouldn't trust it. https://canary.is/flex/ - Blue Iris: http://blueirissoftware.com/ - you need to be tech savv. Set up your own server...
