Party town? LMAO....this town is about as exciting as watching paint dry. Maybe when this rail road piece comes out and makes us more of a laughing stock to the rest of the world (not just NYC), then things might get done around here.

The whole side of the Manischewitz factory on the Morgan St. side was demolished today. These guys are making quick work of this place.

This guy has 1.6 MILLION dollars to spend on a place and he chose JC....what an idiot. He could have afforded a REALLY nice apartment in the best neighborhood in Manhattan and enjoyed everything NYC has to offer for that price tag.

If anyone moved from Manhattan to Jersey City, they have nobody to blame but themselves.

Has anyone seen anything on nj.com or other sites about this incident, or is Jersey City keeping this one under wraps for fear of bad publicity while Snookie is in town?

I was woken up by the gun shots, and I live about half a mile away. It sounded like they were right outside my place. The shots were loud and unmistakable. It sounded like there were more than four shots. Anyone know what happened to the person who was shot?

That would be awesome if it turned out to be a venue for music shows.

Personally, I like the new rendering much better, but those towers are HUGE! I guess there's going to be a lot more foot traffic in that area. When you say "theatre" are they talking about a movie theatre or a traditional type of theatre?

Wasn't there a big debate on the height of the towers, and how Toll promised they wouldn't be more than the zoned height?

Promises promises.....you knew you'd never keep...

What's going on with the whole 7 train expansion? Is that still being considered? I can't imagine the fiscal nightmare between the two states considering riders can't even pay for unlimited metro cards that work for both the PA and the MTA.

Meanwhile, check out the Provost Square towers:

The Flash is a little screwy so hit the little arrow to the right to bring up the second rendering.

That's pretty impressive. I wonder what that's going to do to the property value of the buildings surrounding the square? Thanks for the link.

I'm in complete agreement with what you just said. I'm not one of the self-deluded residents that lies to myself thinking they will open one. There won't be a Trader Joes/Whole Foods here for long time (if at all), and you're right it is "just business."

PEOPLE!!!!! Trader Joe's/Whole Foods and new restaurants are not coming until JC gets some higher income residents who will shop and eat out at these establishments!

This was the post that caused the apparent "no more rich people" comment, but in reality the "There are already plenty of 'higher income' families in JC" comment by Owlie was a statement in response to someone saying we need rich people here in order to get a Trader Joes/Whole Foods. So there was no contradictory statement at all. Owlie just mentioned that the rich are already here, thus questioning why there isn't a better food market. Glad I could clear that up.

I spoke with a friend who lives in Grove Pointe and has a clear view of the roof, and they said that the rooftop is being stripped and sprayed with something. More than half of the roof is currently stripped, and about 15 people in masks and cleanup suits are continuing to remove the top layer of the roof.

Construction is officially taking place at the old Manischewitz matzoh factory. I walked past earlier, and there is a large construction crew ripping off the roof.

Oh, and if anyone wants corporate burritos, we're getting one of these WAY downtown:

http://www.salsaritas.com/

It's going in right next door to Honshu Lounge, which is right next to the old Flamingo spot.

Anyone know what's going on at the building on Christopher Columbus across from Hard Grove? I don't know the exact address, but I'm pretty sure it used to be an unemployment center a few years ago and it's the building with the big globe lights out front.

133 Newark is going to be a Two Boots pizza joint. However, I've been meaning to ask if anyone knows what's going on with the space on Newark Ave next to Sawadee? The space has an image of a native american holding an assault rifle on the boarded up wood.
