Sad to see no one has said anything about your rant. Wasn't there entire post about how people should be nicer on here? Wonder if the censor fell asleep on this one?

Being a Mizharhi Jew, I find what you wrote extremely distasteful.

According to you they were stuck in their car for 20 minutes...and you didn't have time to call the cops??? I hope that you have reserved some of those choice name calling descriptives for yourself.

I have to say, my block is well maintained in the garbage collection area. The persons working for the city are very polite and tend to go out of their way if they see cars waiting behind them.

I have always felt safe even very late at night around JSQ. In a naive way, i have not paid much attention to several posts about crime being up. This definitely gives me pause.

I hope they find the right individual and take him off the streets. The stories in the JJ seem (to me anyway) to indicate that it might not even have been robbery......just that this guy did not want to pay nor had any intention to pay the fare. Also, there was no mention of any money or anything else taken...as far as i know.

Be save everyone.

My best friend is related by marriage to the Valestro Family. She told me when Buddy is supervising or making the treats....it is very good. But since they have gotten so big and busy and hired so many new faces that they just can't control quality.

I wish them luck...and any new development in the area.

Re: Taqueria

I am sure most people don't want to hear this....but there definitely appears to be truth to both sides of this on going debate.

The owner does seem a bit of jerk....so i wouldn't be surprised some(not all) of his staff are the same way. Thus people have complaints.

On the other hand, this place is popular and loved by many...which means they do a great deal right. So for the people with the complaints...example lady who was charged an extra 2 bucks...you should have brought your concern to the restaurant first and see how they would have handled it first.

And for the record. I have been to Taqueria once. My experience was okay.....but i definitely sensed a great deal of attitude.

Pass the popcorn....because this thread i sense will go on an on my friend........

I would not want to go to Hoboken for the fireworks.....that city especially the waterfront is literally falling into the bay. Our very own Venice.

Ever since, I lost my car in an accident(borrowed and driven by a family member) about 2 years ago....I have relied on public transportation. And overall, I am happy with it.....except fares keep going up and....the light rail has gone down in safety in my opinion.

I always fill out those NJ Transit surveys(i filled the latest one out about 3 days ago) and I have detailed my observations. And even if I didn't do those surveys, I am sure they know about these problems...i hope.

Re: Do you feel safe riding the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail?

First, there are many workers who drive to the waterfront for work.

I have heard countless times groups of workers get on board and nervously declare and hope that the train does not get inspected. Others have declared openly that "they are only going one stop and that they doubt they will be inspected".

I have seen workers check before getting on board that there are no ticketing agents on the train.

I have seen that the Waterfront does not tend to be inspected as often as Richard Street, Danforth, Liberty State Park and Jersey Avenue. Although during peak times....Newport is usually inspected....and that is because of the volume of people who get on from there without paying is quite large.

On the occasions that stations like Harborside are inspected for tickets....it is usually not as stringent. I have seen on many occasions agents get on and not bother with inspecting for tickets. I have seen people get off at Harborside with agents standing by....without checking the tickets of those leaving. I guess because people assume educated, business workers with decent jobs...would not cut corners.

hahaha who are we going to report them too if no one is there? Most of the people who use Richard street and Danforth station that beg for tickets are Bayonne residents who spent all their money in JC on crack and now do not have enuff $ to get back to Bayonne.

As someone who rides the Light Rail all the time. Most of the people who have asked me for a ticket or who get on without paying tend to be JC residents....especially coming to or leaving Danforth and Richard street stations. Sooo the profits from the crack business are reinvested back into JC.

I have also noticed alot of workers on the waterfront don't pay....since its much easier for them to hop on and off since there are 4 stations within a minute or two of each other.

I had a very scary experience with Filipino food and have never tried it again.....with that being said....I do think Filipino deserts and bread are yummy.

It's been too long since I have visited the Philippine Bread House and the Red Ribbon Bakery. Why did i give up sugar???

Finally, Hero69 has spoken the truth. It's so hard to show that one has a ticket. Real first world problems represent.

Other things that are such a pain:

-Having to tie shoe laces.
-Stirring cream into my coffee.
-Finding those cute little umbrellas for cocktails.
-Having to say "thank you".
-Getting free stuff. When will the insanity stop!
-Unwrapping gifts.
-Having to order when i go into a restaurant. Hello! Read my mind.
-Garden gnomes.
-Women hitting on me.
-Reading this list.
-Having to pee.

Good point! Also, that is not just a JC problem. In Bayonne for the last 3 years the lines have not been painted on several stretches of roads....especially Kennedy Blvd and Ave C.

Anytime now there will be an accident(hope not) and then the city will be sued.

This money should be spent on job training programs, or scholarship money for college students.....or given to non profits that work in the community especially given how bad the economy is and the large cuts in services that have taken place.

I think that fountain is beautiful but right now it should not be a priority. Also, I am sure their are federal grant programs that could assist in fixing that fountain without cost to the city or county. All the money should be found/gathered that way.

Such a waste.

It would be a great deal safer if they ensured that everyone paid for their ride. I find that many people who don't pay tend to act up or....cause trouble.

Second, when they do check for tickets....the first person or two without tickets is escorted off....but they don't bother checking the rest of the train passengers......thus missing more fare beaters.

I have heard that the Light Rail is losing money......I wonder why....DUH!

I hope you reported the theft. Just bringing it to their attention is worth it.

I do think....wording the post "Animals Live Here" is a bit much. Dehumanizing someone or groups can't really lead to anything positive.

Yes, who ever took it is wrong and hopefully they will be caught or punished.....or stop doing what is clearly wrong.

Frank- you can roll your eyes until they become crossed for all I care. I owe you no explanation. I am obliged to you no satisfaction. You may blindly assume, quiet stupidly, my rational for being selective concerning my personal food choices. I find this wrong. Had you just asked in a non-assuming manner, I would have explained gladly. Instead you came across as a PR*Ck.

Let me make this clear, you do not know me. People in general are not static beings. We are fluid in our identities according to the influences of a host of variables. These can include time, place, people, culture, belief, logic, and technology.

My reasoning for my CHOICE is nuanced....and does not fit into your convenient, made up assumption of me. Someone you just don't know on any meaningful, personal level.

For the rest of us unassuming folks. I went to the local supermarket. And the Stouffers Mac and Cheese did not label the type of enzyme contained in it. If i am tempted to consume massive, amounts of junk, comfort food....it's Kraft for the win.

Unless you abstain from dairy products altogether, the source of cheese-making enzymes should only be important if you care more about precious arbitrary values than the lives of animals. It?s a wildly disproportionate concern. In this case, the unpleasant reality of milk production is the five-hundred pound gorilla in the room, not a milliliter of rennet.

Wow Frank! Assume much? Judgmental much?

TJs has stuff that isn't great for you either. If you buy their frozen meals, it's not any better than the stuff you get at the supermarket IMO.

Snowflake20-I have never seen chemistry like ingredients on TJs products...even the frozen stuff. All though they have foods that are not kind to the waistline....i trust that after eating them....i won't glow in the dark.

Bobblehead-Thanks. Apparently, Stouffers does not know what is or isn't on the back of their own product....not a great sign...after having called them. If, i do see the mac and cheese labeled with the specific kind of enzyme.....then of course will give them a shot....for science of course.

Bobblehead is that the list for Stouffers Mac and Cheese? When, i spoke with their rep....they said they dnt list the exact type of enzymes. So, it might not be on the box at my local supermarket. Sheesh!

Id luv to give the Stouffers a chance just once. But according to the folks at Stouffers...they have many different suppliers, "and with the agreement in place with them...they don't have to tell the company(Stouffers) if the enzymes in the cheese is animal, microbial or vegetable. It could be any of them. Sounds pretty ridicoulous....but true.

Kraft mac and cheese(which i miss since giving up processed junk) is kosher at least..so at least i was able to partake....no Stouffers product is kosher...in case anyone is wondering.

A great deal of the stuff they sell at TJs is natural or without additives and chemicals. All TJ branded products are organic. Also, they have a practice in place to encourage sustainable products. Not too long ago they signed on to carry sustainable fish only in their stores.

Also, the word "processed" is tricky. Cut up veggies would fall under that definition....so one has to be careful how you apply it. And i agree in too many instants "processed" basically means junk but I do think TJs has a vast array of healthy products.
