Re: Do we have a dog leash ordinance in JC?

Maybe we can all pool our money together and hire a dog catcher, seeing as how they are no longer employed by the cartoon industry. Could work...

As another option, you can always dropped your clothes off at the donation bins in front of the fire station, it's only a block away from BB&B.

It seems that cultural pride celebrations always carry a stigma about them, some true, many not. I can't remember the last time a knife fight or vandalism broke out at a Chinese New Year parade, yet it seems to be more likely to happen with festivities revolving around Hispanic/Latin American cultures. Same with St. Paddies Day. Being of German decent myself, I'm not really blessed to be able to march around in the street celebrating my heritage for various "historical" reasons/blunders.

The problem is, you don't live next to the bb court. The whistle blowing, the buzzer going off, besides the yelling and screaming, right next to where people are trying to sleep is completely incomprehensible.

I just don't understand why the court at Enos Jones can't be used instead, as it is much further away from where people live.

I live very close to Enos Park where they have baseball games nearly every day during the warm weather season, which is when most people have their windows open. We have the constant noise of the deafening loudspeaker as well as the cheering crowds. This is a city where people live, work and play. Noise comes with the convenience (or inconvenience depending on your point of view) of city life. People live close to hospitals, fire stations, airports, bars and factories ? it's city life. Unfortunately if you want a quiet neighborhood to live in, your best bet is the suburbs.

I've seen a few of these in the backyards around JC and my neighbor has a chiminea. I'm not sure if there are any codes, but I can't see how it would be any different than having a bbq grill (as long as it's not on your fire escape).

These coconut drinks are great; very refreshing. If your handy with a machete (and who in JC isn't?), you might be able to buy a few to bring home and hack open yourself (I know I'll try).

Attn: Owner of the Sick Grizzly Bear
Home away from home
Home away from home

Please do not let your bear unleash his/her pile of sickness on the corner of Pavonia and W. Hamilton. This is the second time your bear has done this. Last time it took three months and several rain storms to clean the mess. If you are the grizzly bear, please stop eating greasy foods, they do not agree with you.

Thanks

At least the signs read "Pet Free Zone" and not "Dog Free Zone". We wouldn't want all those cat owners in the neighborhood chiming in on this one.

Re: The Hamilton Inn

We tried to go a few weeks ago and the place was packed (or should I say, no tables were available). After reading more and more what others in the area have to say, I'm less enthusiastic about trying to go again. $45 for burgers and an appetizer is nuts. With other more competitive restaurants/bars within walking distance, it sounds like they'll need to make some adjustments, quickly.

I live a few apts down from White Star and it's by far the best bar/bar food in the area. I was talking with one of the bar tenders last night and they did just get approval for outdoor seating. For those who live nearby and are concerned about noise, my neighbor informed me that outdoor seating will only be available until 9:30pm.

This is most definitely gloating. If you are happy, good, tell your friends. Don't post on a message board devoted to embracing the JC lifestyle, find a BK board to post on instead. You're an idiot standing in a circle of fists for posting this. You must be a dull, lazy person to have lived here for 5 years and not have found enough to stimulate you. As my BK friends always say, it's more fun to talk about living in BK than it actually is to do it.

Excellent law for our JC downtown district as well as the rest of NJ, now if we can only find a responsible government department to enforce it...

I agree, it's crazy. Just imagine how bad it will be once the park actually opens! The sooner something can get done the better.

I agree, the intersection at Pavonia & Monmouth is atrocious. I live on Pavonia between Monmouth and Brunswick and have to cross this all the time. The intersection by Basic is bad too. I've been driven off the road numerous times by impatient drivers. It's frustrating for me, but for someone who might have children, carrying a heavy load, or the elderly, it's really intimidating to have a 2 ton chunk of metal encroaching, or even barreling down on you.
