Great video.
Jersey City politics is not about one person. It is the laviathan called the Hudson County Democratic Organization that must be slain if we want real change. Most employees from a crossing guard to Senator Melendez owe their allegiance to the machine. I was born and raised here and worked on one person's campaign a long, long time ago. Without ever asking, I was told to apply for a particular job that was a "sure thing" if I wanted it. When FDR said that "they may be son of a bitches, but they're our son of a bitches," he was referring to the machine politics of Mayor Daley of Chicago and Mayor Hague of Jersey City who can deliver their respective states in national elections. Although their influence has diminished on the national level somewhat, that machine mentality is still ingrained in HC politics.

Re: Hearing delay irks gun store owner: Owner's licenses to sell and carry firearms still revoked

When I applied and was granted a pistol permit, I had to undergo a pretty intense check. Fingerprints, photograph, waiting period and fees. In some municipalities, character statements from two neighbors are required.
I am not a gun crazed redneck nor do I belong to the NRA. I believe that some of the outrageous arsenels in personal collections are a bit disturbing, however, demonizing legal gun owners is a dated practice for New Jersey politicians. This shop owner followed procedure and is an "easy target" for people with political agendas. I'm going to the range to shoot paper targets now.

Not surprised, but it's quite common in many law enforcement organizations and in the military.
Oftentimes, suspensions are a precautionary measure and a wide net is cast.

Ate there tonight and was pleasantly surprised. Might not look like much yet as the place gets its footing. 17 dollars for two us and it was quite good. You can BYOB also.
I don't know much about polish food, but I had the kielbasa and potatoes and it was satisfying. It was a bit empty tonight but I imagine that business will pick up as people discover that there is good grub at a great price downtown.

The SPCA case that was scheduled in "municipal" court today has been sent up to the Hudson County CJP to investigate whether the charges levied against the SPCA are indictable charges. Check tomorrow's Jersey Journal.
Perhaps, the corruption will end finally after all of these years and the place will run like a real "shelter" should. Channel 2 news will hopefully air the story that they have been investigating. They were there today.

Shamefully, the Super Delegates will screw Obama. How archaic is this system? It is one of the last bastions of royalty in this country when one person's vote carries more weight than Joe Citizen's vote.
There will be a back room deal to make Hillary the candidate for President. God, I hope that I am not being cynical.

Depends where on Beacon Avenue. Yeah, there is too much aluminum siding and a few "Mary on the half-shell" ornaments in front of some properties, but it's convenient to NYC and Hoboken.
I was away from Jersey City for ten years and came back recently. I must admit that the Heights has shown a lot of "quality of life" improvements in some areas. Nice to hear from CapnJon that there is a sense of community near Congress and New York Avenue.
