BIG F-ing DEAL!!! It's like renting an apartment - you give the landlord a security deposit. 99 out of 100 hotels require this. Who cares if it's a law, ordinance, etc...

I used Dan Harris from Harris Electric in JC for some work in my condo - he was very good. You can Google him for his website.

Corrado's in Clifton - about 25 minutes north of JC. Just last week I bought a 40 lb. box of bananas for $12 - you can't beat that. They have a warehouse store and an international food mart store.

Re: Running at night

Home away from home

I run at LSP at night at least once a week throughout the year and in my opinion it is safe at night inside the park. Running to the park via Pacific Ave or even the Jersey Ave. footbridge is another story, although I've never had any problems by the footbridge even though the lighting is not great. My best advice is to drive to the park and then run the entire park. There are police on patrol (park police and occassionally JCPD) and along the water by the bridge to Ellis Island there is always a police officer stationed there as well as by the old train terminal most of the time.

Once again, in the video Healy comes across as a stooge that doesn't know what he's talking about or cares about the citizens of JC.

Went here today - great beer selection, best in the area. Lots of microbrews, more domestic than imported. You can even buy single bottles of most items instead of a six pack/case. Prices are comparable to other places, not great, but not bad. Will definitely go back. They also have some hard to find imports (Chimay in 11.2 oz. bottles, Trappists, etc.).

I doubt it - you need to check w/ the dealer - are they in a UBZ that qualifies for the 3.5% tax - it doesn't matter where you live/register. Not sure if cars fall under the 3.5% rule.

Re: BackFlow Preventor installation policy from JC Office of the Construction Official?
Home away from home
Home away from home

The white pipe is a PVC drain pipe - if there is back flow into the supply, the silver valve will open and drain all of the water out to the floor via the white pipe, instead of it back flowing into the supply. While this should never happen, make sure there is a floor drain near by and that it's clear. Occasionally, there might be a small drip from the pipe, but it shouldn't happen often; if it does, the back flow valve isn't properly sealing closed.

If there's air in the system after installation, everyone in the building (especially top floors) need to open all water outlets and let the water run for a few minutes to vent the air from the system.

jclxz, Heights - what is JCPD suppose to do - ask them to sit down and discuss over tea? Get real - of course they have their fingers on the trigger and will ask questions LATER - an innocent officer just lost his life, not to mention three children that will now grow up without a father.

Dr. Cheng at 99 Montgomery St. is very good. It is very easy to get to from Grove or Ex. Pl. PATH or the Light Rail.

Good Luck - you're better off going down there and speaking w/ someone - even that is a pain in the @ss. Call and you'll just be put on hold until the building does fall down.

When is a tax not a tax? When a poltician says so!!

"It should not be classified of a tax increase yet," said Ward D Councilman Bill Gaughan. "I think I can say confidently that members of the City Council will work diligently to cut the budget."

To save money, Morrill said, Healy has instituted a voluntary furlough program in which employees are allowed to take up to 30 unpaid days off; instructed department directors to cut their budgets by 10 percent; continued a hiring freeze and a no-overtime policy unless absolutely necessary; and has continued to hunt for outside revenue.

Yeah, I'm sure in this economy people will be taking voluntary furloughs so they can bring home LESS money and save the taxpayer money!

jmcee, I wouldn't brag TOO much about Trump - sure it's way nicer and the area you can't compare, but unless you bought recently, you overpaid at Trump. Also, it's not like Trump doesn't have it's own problems (read - it's half empty!!).

B Boy - check Feb and March - it's possible they were estimated and if either was and now April is Actual, you're now paying up for the shortfall of the estimated months.

I have a 2BR and use about 600KWH but I have gas heat (but an electric water heater). Averaged over the three months, you're using 666 KWH, which does seem a little high, but electric heat is very inefficient.

Re: NJCU union protests Corzine's budget cut -"He wants to balance budget on the backs of state workers"

Home away from home

TOO BAD!!!! Nearly EVERY small, medium and large coproration in America and abroad is cutting back - time for gov't to do the same and stop shafting the taxpayer. The taxpayer shouldn't suppoort unions on their backs! If they have a furlough at least they'll still have a job - just ask the millions that have been laid off in the past year.

Federal, state, local and county gov'ts have grown too big and are inefficient - time to take the medicine like everyone else!

Add Anchor Bock to the list - just came out last week in this area - only available in the Spring. Great beer! Shop-Rite liquors in Hoboken has it.

Yes, speaking of Muffy and Biff, lets hope there is NO wine served here, that's its a true beer garden. Also, no Vinnies and Guidettas so you have a nice easy-going clientele.
