Let me get this right. Hilton bought Liberty Harbor North? The whole Project? The existing buildings? or just a parcel?

Where did you get this info?

I was walking the dog last around Van Vorst and I could smell the sewage backup. I think it has something to do with the fact that we are very close to sea level downtown and with Hanna they were backing up from the canal. It was a very smelly walk.

I honestly just think it's because people from NYC are moving here with their incomes. 2 income household working in Manhattan definetly helps to boost the numbers.

Mos Def lives in JC now? I thought he was all about Bed Stuy? What neighborhood does he live in? With his money he's probably in one of the towers on the waterfront.

I totaly dug that moview he did with Jack Black. Be Kind Rewind.

I got mine at IKEA. They are awesome and a lot cheaper than anywhere I looked. They have a bunch of different sizes. I have 8ft tall windows and they fit perfectly. They cost something like 39 bucks for each window when I would have spent 100 each at blinds to go.

Re: Living in former firehouses -- Residents transform them into homes, possible theater

What's with that small section on the front of the house that looks like an addition but it could only be about 3-4 ft wide? Doesn't make much sense for a 3ft addition to the side. It look a little weird and throws off the symmetry.

I was at the VVP meeting a couple months back and someone was asking Matsikoudis about the fire house. I called city hall about it and they said that they would send me some information that I have yet to receive.

But $1 per year? Is there going to be an apartment upstairs that you will live in? Is this a non-profit? That 420k revenue will be made how?

Please elaborate so we can make an informed decision. Hey I would love a firehouse for $1 per year.

WARRIORS.... COME OUT AND PLAYEEEE

For real though, motorcycles, dog poop, barking dogs, parking tickets and no mention of a riot????

Have you ever seen 50 people fighting at the same time with weapons???? That should have been front page on the NY times let alone the budget Jersey Journal.

I smell a bullshit story. They are giving you a fake excuse for the cops sitting on their asses and taking 30 mins to arrive on the scene.

If it walks like a duck......

Re: Hard Grove Cafe

YUCK. This place is a glorified dinner without the good eats.

Went for brunch a couple months back since the other places on Grove had long lines. The Huevos Rancheros were horrible. They were hard and rubbery when everyone knows that they should be runny. They were playing the worst music Michael Bolton.... That's right they were playing Michael Bolton and it was horrible. I think they were also playing that MUZAK that you hear in Macy's and other department stores. I wanted to blow my brains out it was so bad.

Sorry, I had to vent but that location is too good to be wasted.

Re: Wayne Street Issues

Has anyone spoken to Fulup about this? You would think that he would be all for cleaning up this block as the southern side of the block is beautiful with the Queen Anne's and the Barrow Mansion.

I went to the VVP association meeting a couple months back, the one that Jerry Healy showed up to and they were out in full force that night despite the mayor being across the street at the Barrow Mansion. It would have been classic if one of the thugs tried to sell him a bag of fun. I could just picture it. sorry Mr. drug dealer, I only consume liquids.

Re: Wayne Street Issues

Home away from home

It was really bad last week. I was driving down the block and I guess the dealers or junkies were lazy as cars were just pulling up to the side and the dealers were running up to the cars. The engines were running and I could barely drive down the block as there were at least 2 cars at the same time purchasing drugs. I called the non-emergency number but i don't know if they bothered to show up. It was a freakn open air drug market.

Has anyone seen the episodes of "the wire" where they legalized drugs in the areas they called Hamsterdamn? It looked just like that.

Plus each and everytime friends come to visit or I walk my dog down the street, the hooligans just have to say something. They just can't keep their F'n mouths shut. It's either hey baby this, Yo gimmie a smoke, etc...

Why do the cops let this happen over and over again? I double park my car in front of the grocery store on Grove for 2 mins and they are up my ass. I'm in the frggin car with the engine running as my girlfriend runs in and the guy is on me to move.

Is the AZTEC motel in Sleazeside still around? It's right on the boardwalk and has a pool. It's filled with mostly drunk college kids but my parents used to take me there when I was a kid. Dirt cheap and never booked solid.

Newport is fine if you want the highrise views of NYC thing. You can also look at Grove pointe if you want a high rise that is closer to a real neighborhood. Of course your cheapest bet would be a unrenovated townhouse or tenement style building.

Check out the Baltimore's Power Plant website. I like it but I can definetly see some old timers not vibing the whole tourist district. This project was hugely successfull for Baltimore and has been recreated by other cities across the nation. Your thoughts?

Re: Car being broken in?

Home away from home

Somebody attempted to break into my car Thursday night on the South West corner of Barrow and Mercer between 1:15 and 2 AM. They didn't get in but messed up my door handle and scratched 2 panels. I was in Barow Bar for less than 45 mins and this was right across the street from the smokers outside so I'm still scratching my head as to the balls of the perp. If anyone saw anything please PM me. It's a dark blue 07 BMW 328 coupe. It's my baby and it really pisses me off that it's all scratched up. I would have loved to catch this SOB in the act.

Re: Certificate of Occupancy -- Condo Downtown JC
Home away from home
Home away from home

They may be living there under a Temp C of O. Some banks will allow you to close under a Temp C of O and they will hold a certain amount of money in a non-interest bearing escrow account. Usually held by the title company.

It's not uncommon but if you have other options there is no reason in this market to settle if you are not getting 100% satisfaction.

Some older single and multi family properties in Hudson County have no C of O because they predate the filing of C of O's. I have personaly closed numerous transactions in Union City, North Bergen, Jersey City and Weekhawken that did not have C of O's.

Feel free to PM or send me an email if you would like to discuss further but I stress if you are not 100% happy don't buy as nothing is worse than buyer's remorse.

Best place to sit at PNC arts center???
Home away from home
Home away from home

I am trying to get last minute tickets to the Stone Temple Pilots show this weekend and have resorted to Stub Hub to purchase them because I'm an ass and waited too long.

The last time I was at PNC was when I was 16 years old so I don't remember it to well but was wondering for the price what would be the best place to sit for that show?

I'm passing on the lawn seats but am interested in either 150 for orchestra seat or 100 for the lodge seats.

Let me know what you all think if you sat in either sections or if you have the low down on better prices for tickets.

Blown away by the service and the food. I tipped 25% because I was so happy with the service. I made it a point to speak with the owner and commend the waitstaff and kitchen.

Build it.

This is where retail and housing is meant to be. It will help connect the strip to the new Liberty Harbor development.

Parks are nice but Van Vorst is just a block away. Build it as long as it keeps within the character of the neighborhood.
