I'm looking forward to their programming. Their mission could be a good spring board for exhibitions and it's a cool space.

Pete isn't going to be out of business for long. He plans to open up a smaller camera/framing shop downtown sometime in the next few months.

I see some shrewd business owners in JC are cashing in on all the free publicity. They made TMZ and don't even have to deal with the show production.

It might be time to step back a little. To the the people who are super furious about this, I assume it's because you don't like the idea that the highest visibility your city is going to get is through the filter of a sleazy reality TV show.

But think about it, do you really care what either of the two following groups think about where you live:

a) the people who are dedicated fans of 'Jersey Shore,' the show you can't stand

b) the people who believe a sleazy reality TV show is going to provide an accurate depiction of the city it's in?

Just roll with it. Walk the other way when you see the cameras coming and laugh at the ladies when the season finally airs.

Jersey City joins an odd lot of host cities for this show. How often would you put Seaside Heights, Miami, Florence and JC in the same sentence?

Given that there aren't any clubs here, I wonder if the producers will fashion some kind pop-up club in a warehouse downtown. At the very least, they can put a disco ball in Healy's Tavern.

Seriously. I am just happy it's not a Hooters or Buffalo Wild Wings, as that seemed to be what the owner was holding out for.

Hand-wringers, I really feel for you, but not having a bonafide music venue in a city this size is a glaring issue. This JCI article from over three years ago about the lack of venues in the city could have been written yesterday. Thank the heavens this ordinance was finally revised.

Of course, allowing for music is one thing. Opening and sustaining a venue is another. I wonder if Todd Abramson is still interested. Hi-ho Silvermans, away!

I was in the store this weekend and saw that they're going to be open later in the evenings and on Sundays. This is good news.

Also, the Two Points to Genius is a fantastic sandwich.

100 million times yes, why not?

The city's entertainment ordinance has been a disaster since it was put in place. It's terrible how few venues host live music in this city, but the licenses are apparently difficult to apply for and impossible to obtain.

Adding in the other giant obstacles to opening businesses here, Jersey City has a reputation for being more difficult to operate in than New York City. It has to stop.

PROTIP: Hi restaurateurs, spamming a message board with recommendations from new users makes people less likely to go to your restaurant.

I love that the audit is happening after the toll hike is in place.

I would say they shouldn't be able to get away with this. But I know the MTA is going to do the exact same thing.

What are the odds that the new Freedom Tower gets built without another fare adjustment?

Way to stay on message with those protest signs.

There are huge delays on PATH trains the day the PA has to defend the hikes to the public, and we look like the dumb ones.

So many questions about this. Can the PA justify the PATH being more expensive than the MTA per ride when the system covers a fraction of the locations and distance that the MTA does? Can commuters expect to have more trains during rush hour so that we aren't stuffed in each car or waiting for 2 or 3 trains to even get on? Can we expect the Hoboken detour on weekends to end? Can we ask for fans to be put in all stations to cool them down during the interminable summer heat? Can we expect there to be any more trains at WTC late night and on weekends for the next 10 years while the Freedom Tower gets built? Given the way fare increases usually go, the answer to all of these would be "no, of course not."

JCI reported on the name change a little while ago.

I went there a few weeks ago and it's more or less unchanged aside from the name. I'm pretty sure the owners are just rebranding.

This is sort of off-topic, but does anyone know what the white building with the green door on Columbus between Jersey and Grove is going to be? Looks like it has a garden in the back and a lot of renovations have been going on for the past few months.
