Outside of JCList, I don't think anyone in town knows there's a new tax increase coming. I've been talking about it with friends and neighbors and it's news to all of them. Is word getting out to the community, or are we just hoping enough JCList lurkers manage to show up?

Word is getting out to every part of the city.

Meetings with Neighborhood Associations, contacting businesses, flyering.

I got a call from someone that went to service today (not downtown), he told me the fliers were even there.

Will these community associations be representing their districts and speaking at the feb 24 council meeting or are they providing a forum for a discussion to take place so that residents may vent frustration? I'd expect all the organization heads to actually speak at the meeting or stop telling everyone they represent others. I would think they'd be working 24/7 to get the word out about the increases, and if not, never too late to start. Still got a couple of days to do it!

The petition shows a lot of anonymous names. What's up with that?

I'll put up some fliers. I'm planning to attend.

I'm ready to get rid of some great books, photo frames, clothes, women's shoes and more, but can't seem to find on the JC website if I need a permit. Anyone know the answer?
Thanks!

Probably 1 % of residents apply for a permit for a yard sale. I'd use the military policy, and don't ask, don't tell.

I have a sneaky suspicion that if I go back to the office of the Construction Code, the dozen people who sit around and do nothing but ignore homeowners all day will still be there.

Guaranteed. The slackers are not going anywhere. I visited the tax office about my increase and the lazy girl that waited on me wanted to send me down the hall for abated properties. There is no abatement. Where did she get that, cuz she didn't even look up my address on her computer. She just wanted to get rid of me and go back to doing nothing.

Do we even need 2 deputy mayors??

No we don't. A damn waste of our money! Do away with her position, salary and any staff that supported her. It's the mayor's job to fulfill the role of a mayor.
