How the Mayor Stuck Wards A, B, C and D With $143 Million In Taxes

Yet another Fulop hit piece from The Jersey City Times who’s creator is the biggest anti_Fulop guy in Jersey City. Wow the reval “scandal” from 5 years ago lol same tactic used in 2017 when he tried to get Matsikoudis elected. We all know how that turned out.

Foreclosure Of Spears’ Home Connected To Man Charged With Running Mega Mortgage Fraud Scam

Jersey City mayoral candidate says he never met Anthony Garvin and can’t recall the name of his friend who brought him real estate deal

New Jersey Globe By David Wildstein, September 28 2021 1:54 am

A property purchased by a Jersey City mayoral candidate is connected to a local man indicted in a multimillion-dollar mortgage fraud scheme, but Lewis Spears says he never met the seller and was unaware of the criminal charges filed against Anthony Garvin in 2019.

The U.S. Department of Justice alleges that Garvin plotted a series of short sale flips in Jersey City and other municipalities by using straw borrowers and submitting loan applications using fake pay stubs and tax information to obtain mortgages and multiple Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) loans.

All of those tax abatements robbed them of their budget and we are paying a high price with higher school taxes.

Jersey City mayor may no longer be unopposed in 2021 mayoral election

Published: May. 19, 2021, 5:20 p.m. jersey journal

“Spears is likely to face scrutiny over the the Kismet of Kings’ recent acceptance of a $150,000 grant from the Fireman Foundation, whose founder, Paul Fireman, has tried to acquire 22 acres of environmentally sensitive land in Liberty State Park for his Liberty National Golf Course.

Fireman has said he is no longer seeking the land, which would have been transformed into three new holes for the course. At the same time, the proposed Liberty State Park Protection Act that would protect the swath of land, has stalled in the Legislature, with some pointing to political donations Fireman has made as the major roadblock to passage.”

The Hudson County Board of Commissioners should vote down a resolution on today’s agenda that would give 3% raises to a number of top county officials, including County Executive Tom DeGise.

The proposed raises come just five months after the same group of officials received 2.5% pay hikes retroactive to last summer.

Built to withstand a bombing, massive MOTBY buildings to be imploded Sunday

Updated Aug 04, 2021; Posted Aug 03, 2021 By Ron Zeitlinger | The Jersey Journal

A couple of the final remnants of the historic Military Ocean Terminal at Bayonne will be imploded Sunday morning to make way for a sprawling United Parcel Service facility.

The demolition of two World War II-era structures — each six stories and 1.5 million square feet — completes three years of site work preparation of the 153-acre site on what is now called the Peninsula at Bayonne Harbor. MOTBY or simple “the M.O.T.,” was in operation from 1942 to 1999, first as a Navy supply depot until 1967 and then as an Army base.

An obscure federal agency could decide the future of a Jersey City park

Updated 2:42 PM; Today 1:53 PM By Peter D’Auria | The Jersey Journal

For years, Jersey City has been embroiled in a battle over the Embankment, a line of six elevated blocks running through the city’s Historic Downtown.

City officials envision the former rail line becoming a linear walking park, the city’s answer to New York’s High Line. But railroad company Conrail, the onetime owner of the land, is trying to unload it to a private developer.

The outcome of that battle could be decided far from the overgrown rail line in the heart of Jersey City. Instead, the future of the city’s dream park could hinge on an upcoming ruling by the Surface Transportation Board — an obscure federal agency in Washington, D.C.

This is interesting data from the CDC. Sort of like poster 12345's but a different cut. You can look at each category in chart and table form or you can download to excel. Death wise this was a 50+ year old person disease 95% of the recorded deaths. (yikes) Glad the campaign was to get old..err..older people vaccinated first.

Why the spike in Jersey City fatal shootings this year? ‘They have to retaliate; they cannot not retaliate.’

Updated Jun 10, 8:58 AM; Posted Jun 09, 2:58 PM
By Joshua Rosario | The Jersey Journal

A new rash of fatal shootings in Jersey City are being attributed to an old problem — retaliation by neighborhood gangs.

There have been five gun deaths since May 3, and 10 this year in Jersey City, but this uptick in tragedy is different, a said source with close ties to gang activity.

“What happened in Jersey City is some big names got taken out,” the source said, referring to leaders of the loosely organized, violent crews being shot. “Since that retaliation, there has been a lot of back and forth.”

Jersey City taxpayers may not be digging deeper into their pockets this year, after all.
