Going to be interesting. Can't vote for Mr. Levin this time. His alignment with hopefully soon to be ex-Mayor Healy raises to many questions.

Lol...keeping stirring the pot troll....You are doing a great job of motivating people to get out & vote for Mr. Fulop. I'm not voting for Mr. Levin but he is a decent guy IMHO. Hope you are not unfairly hurting his candidacy. Would like to see him win or lose based on his own merit. But again thanks for hurting Healy so much.

I was also never eligible for cash assistance (welfare) because I still had a source of income.

What is more than likely the case, is that they were illegally not reporting income.

Much respect to you for doing the legal and morally correct thing when you reported an income change. Personally I like to help good folks like you with my tax dollars because someday I or someone I care about might be in the same position.

It is unfair to both you and I when others cheat the system and do not report additional income or wage earning live in boyfriends. I've served my country and bust my a$$ driving a 1000 dollar car in a search for parking around that neighborhood everyday. So when a benzo (lots of other nice cars in there) drives by me on its way to a private parking lot, It kind of pisses me off also.

Also I understand that teens of any socio-economic demographic can be unruly but that doesn't make it right.

I'm sure it was certainly not intended (sarcasm) but your letter links Mr. Levin to Mr. Fulop instead of to Mayor Healy. Mr. Levin is on the Healy ticket. Mr. Levin tried to weaken pay to play when he linked up with the Healy machine. All that said Dan Levin is a decent guy.

Got a 4 pg Healy mailer today w/ Mr. Fulop dressed as a "doctor" on it. One pg has a pic of him with President Obama. The other 3 pgs. rag on Mr. Fulop with a sensational national enquirer/daily news style. It might be the single most despicable negative political ad that I have ever seen.

If I didn't know either candidate I personally would never, ever vote for a candidate that put out this classless garbage. I hope this backfires on Healy and if I was Mr Levin I would want to distance myself from Healy asap after seeing this trash.

Thanks to the Healy campaign. The glossy paper stock made for a wonderful disposable dust pan for cleaning up .mouse crap.

I wish I could vote for you sir but unfortunately I don't live in your ward. Although I'm not sure if I agree with all your positions I respect your intentions and commitment to the city. Best to you. If elected I know you will serve with grace, honor and dignity.

The two folks in my house however will not be voting for Mr Levin. We no longer trust him because of his affiliation with an obviously corrupt administration.

Police have known about this van for years. In fact I mentioned it as common knowledge on JCList over a year ago. Glad they finally "moved" on the guys. Stuff that gets stolen around town usually gets boosted because the thief already has a place to sell it.

I call crock on Bayside, PlainSlice, DarthL, Kit, HCDeadO, and especially on myself.

However, anyone who chooses to review all those posts won't find a single false claim.

And what I have called a crock, still is a crock.

My shrink is telling me I should take a vacation. Maybe I'll go to my beach house and read the collected works of Dr. Seuss.

This is the kind of "crock" I would expect from a Healy operative. Your method of trying to"influence" the board is duplicitous. Any legitimate "claim" you may have made (and I thought some claims were good) has been polluted by your manner of communication.

You can't rail against the other side for being devious in a devious manner without losing all of your credibilty.

Ironically IMHO the legitimate good Mr Levin may bring to the council has been polluted by the manner he has chosen to try to get elected. For some of us the end does not justify the means.

Maybe it is because I'm not down in the political mud with some of you but I am an angry taxpayer that is voting against Healy. Sorry ....end of sermon

"Every politician at one moment or another has to choose sides or vote for something that he or she may diametrically oppose in order to get to the greater good."

The issue is not one of choosing sides on an issue. Mr. Levin campaigned for Healy to be removed from office for moral/ethical/legal reasons. Now he MASSIVELY FLIP FLOPS and jumps in bed with him.

"The way the Healy bashers on this forum carry on they wouldn't agree with anything Healy proposes because they perceive him as a dirty, morally bankrupt buffoon."

If that was directed at me, it is a lie. I proudly bash Healy for his corrupt and illegal activity, but I do not consider him to be a buffoon. I think he is a charismatic, friendly and very saavy politician. He has helped build a massive political machine albeit a corrupt one which could serve the city better.

"Dan wants his views finally heard and is doing what he feels is necessary to accomplish that goal. In other words, attaching himself and I use the word attaching loosely to Healy's ticket"

I never questioned Mr. Levin's motivation. I question his judgement in aligning him with a himself a corrupt mayor. There is no "loosely"way of attaching yourself to the Healy machine. Now he is a Healy man. Period.

"Again, over thinking this is a waste of your time. Just take a deep breath and understand that without deep pockets and crony capital Dan's likely chance of winning this all important seat is to mingle amongst Healy and his backers.... albeit for a split second."

No I do not understand nor will I ever understand that "deep pockets" or "crony capital" is worth a man's integrity.

As for me and some others I know. We won't vote for Mr. Levin because he is now on the Healy ticket.

I'm sure many people think Mr. Levin is a great guy with good intentions. I don't know him personally but he probably is a decent person and seems to have a resume of trying to get positive stuff done.

As a Ward E voter I can not vote for Mr. Levin. Healy is corrupt. C'mon now people. There is right and wrong. Corruption is wrong. It's that simple. Healy has a certain charisma for sure. He has clearly bought the support of many people. There is a political price to be paid when you when you jump on a ticket with a guy like Healy. That is the way this game works.

I don't want my council person to be beholden to a corrupt mayor.

I don't want my council person to massively flip flop his positions for political reasons.

In the past I would have voted for Mr. Levin. Now I won't vote for him.

I don\'t work for Healy or Fulop. I am a registered voter that has lived in Jersey City for five years. I have never voted in a mayoral election. I am finally fed up with the baloney of the Healy administration. Everyday it seems as thou I\'m meeting more and more people that feel as thou I do. That is the true pulse of the city Mr. Political Consultant JCFree.

High crime in the streets, free cars for political cronys, massive bribery, folks that have 2 or 3 virtually no show jobs and much more crap by the Healy Administration.

I don\'t live in la la land and think Mr Fulop is perfect by any means. Quite frankly I don\'t have a lot of faith in politicians.
But clearly as an average voter what infuriates me is the spin doctors like JCFree that are professional mudslingers. You are attacking someone , under the guise of political discourse, because the record of your candidate is disgusting. It is very transparent and in this case maybe not so efffective.

I AM THE PREVIOUSLY UNINTERESETED VOTER THAT ACCEPTED THE CORRUPTION OF HEALY AS A WAY OF JERSEY CITY LIFE. I AM PART OF A BLOCK OF VOTERS THAT IS YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE. NOW I\'M FINALLY PISSED ENOUGH TO VOTE FOR FULOP. TAKE THE PULSE OF THAT MR POLITICAL CONSULTANT

I perceive Mr Levin to be an honorable man that would do his best for the residents of Ward E. A rose in a pile of crap is still a rose but it might not smell that way. Please Mr Levin....don't smell like crap.

As for Ms Lopez....did every one forget about her claiming to live in Florida to steal thousands of tax dollars? She may be strong helping constituents (and this does have value) but she will bend her morals to follow the money like most of team Healy. This has been proven repeatedly. She does have the brains to strategically distance herself on occasion just to claim she is not a puppet.

OBAMA VS WHO???? Would Hillary have been the left\'s great shining knight? Doubtful, most of the folks criticizing Obama weren\'t crazy about Bill\'s centrist policies either. Like it or not Reagan set a course for this country that has pulled the center to the right. To win the presidency you need to win the center, not the wings. The GOP is struggling with this right now in their primaries.

Cutting off your nose to spite your face by abandoning the Dems for a 3rd party isn\'t the answer, just as voting for Nader wasn\'t the answer, it just illustrated that there actually WAS a huge difference between the parties. I can\'t believe GWB\'s been gone only 3 years and already you people forget the lesson of 2000. Stop comparing our Dem presidents to some mythic ideal and compare them to the opposition. The Liberal that you wish for has been unelectable in the US for half a century.

PS: I voted for Hillary, solely because I thought she was more electable. 4 years of McCain scared the crap out of me.

Absolutely correct on most points. The party that moves to the center would win the next presidential election. Either major party would have a huge advantage over any third party, because of money and existing field networks. Right now the big contributors, especially on the Republican side are from the extreme conservative wings of the party. This is why we see a plethora of these right wing minded candidates that don\'t mirror all the views of most people. A third party candidate is seldom viable not because of ideology but rather because of the infrastructure that is needed to run a campaign. If a strong centerist or populist candidate from either party jumped in with money and strong friends it is not likely but possible in this election. Historically think of a campaign like Teddy Roosevelt. By now however it might be too late. This was Trump\'s dream, although I don\'t think he had a chance in hell.

I would also suggest that Reagan was not elected because of his right wing views but despite them. He was perceived by many as a strong straight shooter. Carter was perceived as a nice guy but weak and over his head. People wanted change in 1979. The economy was weak and our foreign policy was considered weak by most voters. Again you are correct. Reagan pulled the center to him. It doesn\'t seem that the Republicans are going to run a viable candidate against Obama which is a shame. Competition seems to keep politicians a little more transparent and accountable.

(four years of McCain would scare me but a heart attack and four years of Sarah Palin would REALLY terrify me.)

Democrats and Republicans have lost the pulse of the American electorate. Unfortunately many folks are simple and just want to see their personal situations improving or at least hopeful. A large portion of our population (locally and nationally) has lost hope in the effectiveness and transparency of the people we elect. Many just inactively complain or choose apathy. For some the choice of Obama was not the choice of a Democrat but more a choice of change. The time is ripe for a populist candidate which history teaches us can sometimes be a very good or very bad thing. Our recent council election and the low turnout are symptoms of this effect. With much respect to some of very well intentioned, and educated candidates none seemed able to get the electorate in JC motivated enough citywide to get out and vote. Given the attitude of many people I talked to this would have been very challenging. So what do we do? Give up? I appreciate folks like Mr Levin and Mr. Fulop, even if I don't always agree with them. Thank you for trying and please don't stop.

Most of these thieves will steal anything they can resell including many things an honest person might never consider. Its relevant to this thread because most of these guys are also stealing bikes. These "boosters" routinely steal clothing, watches, deodorant (which I think none use), meat, razors, baby formula, electronics, air freshners, greeting cards, analgesics and anything small they "can bag up." The gum at Duane Reade is directly in front of the cashiers for a reason. It is actually locked up at the 24 hr Walgreens in Journal Square. ( Yes, gum locked up) .... My roomie works for A&P and they now remove the shrimp from the case at night, because so much was being stolen. Multiple guys have been caught stealing 5 or 6 bags at time and someone downtown is buying it, To be very clear after my last post the place is NOT Lucky Seven but they are in the area.
