whats so great about Little India? If you dont like indian food or culture, you dont care about little india. I wish there was more around here BESIDES little india. thats the problem. too many condos, not enough different stores, shops, (nice stores). thats why most people go to downtown or hoboken to do much or all of there shopping and entertainment.

Lipski is a joke!!!

I live in the St Johns condos and so does Lipski, he has never been to any of the meetings. We could use his help. There is alot of crime in this area and we could use a community leader. If he doesnt care enough to show up to his own bldg condo meetings, how can he care baout his district??

He should go!!

He is useless!!!!!!!!

too funny. You're right about the people that run through the doors, just to get a seat. Like they never stood before in their lives. Every morning, people run to those doors and fight for seats. It's pathetic. I dont even bother. I'd rather stand.

Did you pay to have the apt painted? In my bldg, the super does things, but a work order is filled out and we are charged. therefore they are not doing you any special favors. $50 should be plenty, unless he did all this work for free. The it should ne higher.

I just voted and to my surprise, it was an electronic machine. Last time I voted (2002) it was the old fashioned kind. when I questioned if I would get a receipt, the woman staed "evopting is more accurate than paper". I told her about the news stories detailing evoitng tampering and un reliable. she was clueless. also, ther were no police there. And the guy behind me didnt have a photo id.
He couldnt believe he needed it...I told him "how do we know it is actually you??"
He was more pissed that he needed id.

This is such a joke...that is why thses negaitve, fals, trashy advertisments work. People are dumb!!

I paid taxes as usual, with personal check, sent in via mail. several weeks later, I received a letter stating "to the resident of JC, as of may 11, 2006, JC will no longer accpet personal check. only cash, cashiers check or money order. We are returning your check beacuse of this reason".
Now they want to charge me 3 weeks interest on that tax.

I wish to share my frustaration with all of you. The city of JC is a waste. I recently paid my property tax, as usual. I paid with a personal check. Now I get a letter in the mail, that they will only accpet cashier check, cash or certified check. For over 1 year, i have been paying by personal check. Now, they want interest on the past due amount. I asked if you can pay online or automatic withdrwal via phone. The answer, NO!
WTF??
This city is a joke!!

I think its a great idea, but I truly think govt should focus on cleaning up the city, streets and combat crime. That is a priority right now!

How is it that everyone else in JC is getting an abatement, but my prop taxes just went up?? I have to say...I recently moved to JC from NYC...the government here is horrible...from police chief,to mayor to local council people. The only one who I like is Fulop and I just found out he doesnt represent me.

As a new JC resident (6 months) from Brooklyn, this place has so much potential. I think it's bad city mgmt and bad development. All this new construction is residential. where are the stores ? Restaurants? Business? We need more business, along with residential development. All you see are new condos going up. but if you want to shop or eat, you need to go elsewhere. Also, they need to clean up the city. Quality of life improvemnt leads into less crime. clean up the streets, garbage, ruin down blsg, etc. People will care more. Thats what Giuliani did in NYC. It starts with the basics. This will never be Hoboken, but it has it's own potential, different than Hoboken. I actualy think its a good thing that new people are moving here. New blood will change things hopefully for the better.

I agree with everything you said. I recently moved from NYC to Jersey city and I work in Manhattan. I was attracted by the great commute and investment opportunity. Plus, it is pretty centrally located to many parts of the tri sate area. However, you are coorect about getting what you pay for. It starts at the top...the Mayor is responsible for local politics, then the Chief of Police is responsible for fighting crime, etc. This mayor looks like ajoke and so does the chief of police, as well as the res of the local politicians. I'm very surprised, but it needs to start from the top and their priorites are not in line with the residents.

I received a flyer today at Shoprite in Newport. States that there will be a 44% increase in water/sewage this year and continue till 2015. There is a meeting to discuss on 12/29 at 5:00 pm
at 555 Route 440 on the 1st floor of the JCMUA.
I cannot make the meeting but would like to voice my opinion to our local council leaders. I went to the JC website, no email addresses, just phone number. I will call tomorrow. This is crazy. Maybe they should stop giving people tax abatements in the more expensive parts of JC. This is ridiculous.
