hate to break it to you but I'm pretty sure the reason the dog parks are going in is cause the grass will be off limits to dogs. Usually that is the way it works and hopefully that is what will happen. Then we (humans) will actually get to enjoy it and not have to look out for land mines all the time.

The listing is still up on some sites like "oodle" but have not walked by in a couple weeks so I couldn't tell you for sure. It's a beautiful place, a shame that there is trash that hangs out across the street and mass drug deals that go down in the playground there.

I thought that the same company that renovated the powerhouse in Baltimore were also doing the one in JC. Is this not happening anymore?

Long story short. When I first moved to JC the heat broke in my apt. It took a long time for my landlord to get to it and I held back a months rent (he had no problem with it). Eventually I moved out and my friends took over the place knowing that the heat had problems in the past. It eventually kicked the bucket and they sent a certified letter saying they were not going to pay rent until it was fixed. Well, they lived there for free until they moved out. Apparently, your landlord can be fined every day that he does not provide heat. Jersey favors tenants more so than the landlord. Google around the internets for some info. I would track down some sites for you but I'm at work and need to use my internet time wisely (on Dlisted, TMZ, Digg and other mindless sites).
good luck

are there enforced hours for the basketball courts? maybe they should lock it up after a certain hour?
I know that there are rules about having your dog leashed and I sure do see a lot of unleashed dogs in Hamilton park.

Yah dude I'll be movin to the country and eatin me some peaches as soon as the condo sells. Cept the Puerto Ricans are making my street look less desirable to potential buyers. So if my place don't sell, I'm gettin a pickup truck with a horn that plays Lynyrd Skynyrd and buyin a rifle. Goddamit - eff whole foods - we need us a wallmart!

I hate Skynyrd! Play something else when you're driving around. Promise me when you do leave JC that you will invite me over to do some skeet shooting and cow tipping. Then I can listen to you whine about your new Christian conservative neighbors.
oh and trp3, "The sensitivity on this forum is incredible" ?
you're right... stop being so sensitive. Gnomegeneralization I'm sure is a big strong dude who can take some sarcastic comments.

I would really like to see some of the puerto rican social clubs close down. There are some decent people hanging out there for the most part, but they make the block look like shit. What's with all the crap sitting outside? Are they selling that stroller/grass mower/stuffed monkey or just displaying it for some retarded aesthetic value? What's with the flags all over the place? And is it really necessary to blow your "La Cucaracha-playing" horn at 7 am on a saturday?

It's called city living.

That's "The Spot" son! (the actual name of the store)
It was a cell phone, "mix tape" cd shop in its day but yes, recently it looks like it's been hit with a bomb. I figured they were going out of business and just using the time left on the lease to sell whatever was left. BUT it has been a while now and it's the same... strange.

youre not answering the question, "skepticalhook". i posed a legitimate scenario where the illegal immigrants would now all be legal tax paying residents. and, since you are a representative of those with the viewpoint that all illegals are bad, then i wanted to know your thoughts on where the hate against them would be re-directed now that they would (presumably) be legal.

Well "regulator", I thought you would have been able to get my point, but I will spell it out in simpler language for you to understand in this hypothetical, which I hope is not a "legitimate scenario". I place them with all drains on society in the unfortunate event that some amnesty is granted. Legal does not mean that they contribute to society in any meaningful way. I place them with the unwed mothers of 6 who do nothing more than raise criminals. I place them with the welfare cheats. I suspect I place them with you, regulator.

And this "hate" that you speak of (and why is it that anyone who disagrees with a liberal agenda is deemed a hater?) is for a society that wants to police itself only when it is politically correct to do so. That taxes the working who try to do things legally, just to pay for the lazy. I went to highschool, , college, grad school; avoided trouble; so that I could succeed. And I would say a good portion of my "rewards" goes for those who had a much better time and ignored society's rules. No one has personal responsibility under a welfare state.

In any event, I think for the most part "illegals" are good moral, hardworking people, but what part of illegal do you not understand. I just think the world would be better off if they did their hardworking back at home, rather than sending $$$ back there and contributing nothing here.

And K-Lo--offering drivers licenses will not, for the most part, mean that those you don't want on the road will be licensed and have insurance. It's just a first step towards regulator's legalization.

I think what skeptical is trying to say is that only successful people should be allowed in America. Even if you are legal and paying taxes he believes that you should still not be allowed here cause you are a drain on society if you are making under a certain amount. It's good we never followed that rule cause than none of use would be here huh. I'm mean my great grandparents arrived with $14 dollars in their pockets.

Hey mama, sorry to hear that you need to embellish some facts in order to make yourself appear more interesting. But hey, I guess you kinda have to in order to make your .5 cent deposit in every conversation more interesting. I believe there's a point when acceptance and "open-mindedness" becomes naivety. And that's exactly what I've observed from many of your posts. It's all peace, love and hair grease. Sorry I stomped on your rainbow colored sunglasses. As for yourself and your friends, not interested thanks. Probably wouldn't have much in common. Unless you're challenging me to a duel? Hey...were you threatening me cornholio?

I know, I know, positivity is such a downer and annoyance to folks like you. That's always interesting, how people have to try to rip down others with personal attacks. Classy stuff. I'm glad I was entertaining enough for you to remember me, let alone feel such venom towards me.

You don't intimidate me with your nastiness, by the way. It's all in good fun. For me, at least. Cuz I'm so naive and all.

NewHeights wrote:
crushthedemoniac- Ill tell you how gentrification helps a city.

I'll paint a picture for you hows that.

A 20 unit rent controlled building with most if not all of its tenants on welfare and section 8. There are a total of 40 school age children living in this building. thats 2 per unit(i'm lowballing its more like 4 per unit). Remember the parents don't pay rent, taxes and few in the building work. The annual taxes on the building are $15,000 per yr.

A developer comes along and buys the building He/she proceeds to negotiate with the tenants to buy them out.
They all jump at the cash offers to vacate.

The developer gut renovates the building meanwhile employing local laborers and contractors.

After 18 months all 20 units sell to the new condo owners. Yes many of these new owners are the dreaded yuppies.
The avg tax on this 20 unit building is 5,000 per unit. that equates $100,000 in tax revenue to the city.

There are now a total of 5 school age children(thats a high ball #, more like 1 or 2 children) in the building and none go to the local public schools. this is very common amongst yuppies.

These yuppies also pump $ into the local economy by dining shopping etc paying more taxes and creating local jobs for restaurants shops etc not to mention more useless govt jobs.

lets not forget to mention that many of the previous tenants that occupied the building and their children will end up in the legal system and increase the need for police etc.The sad reality is crime and poverty go hand in hand.

thats how yuppies help a city unless of course you would rather have a disfunctional city. if thats the case move to Camden,NJ. dont't forget to send us a postcard.

NewHeights you have just explained my dream. I can't wait for this to happen. The section on Chris Columbus Dr. and that horrid brown doody lookin project on Manilla can be first.
