Re: Dear Webmaster, I find your thread consolidation annoying

The most annoying part is the auto jump to the most recent reply on a thread. As "common sense" as it may seem, it is the opposite of every message board, hell, every WEB PAGE ever, and it discourages users from reading and understanding the context of the discussion prior to the latest reply. No wonder this community is a piece of work.

Using the mouse to scroll and search a page for content is a normal and expected user behavior. Scrolling UP is not and is a jarring experience. Novel, unexpected user experiences = poor usabilty = irate users who don't want to come back and engage with the software.

I looked for two of my favorites, Yuengling's Black and Tan and Miller's High Life (like clunkified, my fave of the "common beers.) I saw tons of Miller LITE (which tastes like cold water to me) at very cheap prices but no High Life????? No Yuengling Black and Tan either. I was a bit overwhelmed and I guess I could have missed them.

The High Life is in the row of cases at the back of the store where all the common and domestic stuff is. There's an entire fridge section worth of it in cans, bottles, and even mini-bottles.

I love High Life...The Champagne of Beers. People like to look down their nose at it, but it's quite good. It has a fascinating history.

@ Buy Rite:
4.49 a six pack for bottles.
6.99 a 12er for cans.
14.99 for a case o cans...not sure if it was 24 or 30.

Just came back from my first visit to Buy Rite. If you like alcohol in any way, shape or form, you will not be disappointed...in fact, you will likely be overwhelmed, but then quite giddy once the initial shock wears off.

Best retail store of all time.

The two dudes at Target gave me gruff for passing them by. It was definitely not for charity unless you feel helping them set up their bedroom music studio is a charitable cause.

I was just intrigued by this place across the street from West Elm in Chelsea. Looked like they had some distressed/reclaimed/antique doors.

Ah yes, how comforting to hear about other horrible JC PO experiences. Regarding #5 above, I presented a signed card and my ID and was then hassled by the clerk about not having the same last name as my husband.

"I don't have to give this to you at all, you know," was his great customer-service oriented reply.

Then walked around the package office mocking me in a high pitched voice because I had said, "It's 2009. Not everyone changes their last name."

I went in there to CLAIM MY OWN PACKAGE with a VALID California driver's license and was hassled: "What is that? I don't know what that is...that's not a valid ID...You can't come in here with no fake ID."

Lady WTF. It took everything in me not to absolutely explode on her.

Ahh, the USPS is one of my hot button topics. JC PO is hands down the WORST post office I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Most inept, inefficient PO and I've seen them from coast to coast.

Things I don't understand about the USPS:

1. Why can't they hire relatively menial "runners" to go fetch packages instead of having the desk clerk go fumble about, take 12 minutes to retrieve packages and hold up the 50 people in line?

1a. Why do they have like 2 people working?

1b. Why can't they automate package retrieval so the clerk knows exactly where to find shit?

1c. Why is the package desk not always open? And why are the package clerks such MASSIVE jerks at the JC PO?

2. Why aren't there MANY MORE automated stations in every post office?

3. If you insure a package and also get delivery confirmation, your insurance is USELESS because once proof of delivery occurs any insurance claim is IMPOSSIBLE to prove unless you were there when it was delivered. They certainly don't tell you this when you purchase, but will tell you this when you try and make a claim.

4. Why do the JC postal workers NOT KNOCK ON DOORS or RING THE BELL? Notices appear days later with the final notice box checked. Huh?

5. Anybody can claim your package if you have a notice and sign it in the person's name. However, having an unsigned notice, proof of residence at the same place, proof of marriage to the person who's package it is, is not sufficient.

It is no wonder that they just posted a 3.8 BILLION DOLLAR LOSS for fiscal 2009. http://www.logisticsmgmt.com/article/ ... fiscal_year_2009_loss.php" rel="noopener external" title=""> http://www.logisticsmgmt.com/article/ ... fiscal_year_2009_loss.php

They need consulting from UPS and Fedex to modernize their disaster of an operation.

Burke's going out of business in the shadow of Buy Rite seems like it would be a positive thing for that neighborhood. When I first moved here, that was the first place to buy booze I found. I went that one and only time, but that place is a piece of work.

Coming from California, there was a well stocked nursery pretty much everywhere and I could always count on the The Home Depot garden section and even Target to have lots of great stuff. Target is a bust. The Home Depot Garden area in JC is abysmal, and I'm having trouble finding a nursery.

Where can I get houseplants around here?

Anybody know of an industrial surplus warehouse in the vicinity? Would like to buy some shelving units and work tables without having to pay for freight.

Something along these lines:

I'm going to be needing some walls contstructed for a loft I'm moving into. Can anybody recommend a competent, honest contractor you've worked with for similar projects? Or just a good contractor in general who could do this type of work?

Thanks in advance!

I already called the postcard place and UPS (for the 3rd time today) and read each of them their respective riot acts. The printing company was also pissed because it makes them look bad, and they have no real control over what a dick driver decides to do.

They are reprinting on a 1 day turnaround for free and we SHOULD get it on Wednesday.

F***!

UPS didn't even ring the bell or leave a note. Just left that shit right on the door step, and the kicker...my wife was home ALL DAY specifically waiting for the package, not getting done what she had to do all day.

I hope you can hock those promotional postcards for our jewelry business for some good loot!

Thanks UPS dick! Thanks dick who stole the package!

Alternatives to PSEG

Are there any PSEG alternatives?

Our bills are OUTRAGEOUS. $450+ dollars gas and electric...bulk of the charges going to gas. We are 2 people in a 2 level apartment, basement and first floor. I'm astounded by the charges (yes, actuals). We keep the house at 65 and sometimes bump it to 68. Doesn't seem like an unreasonable usage.

And they say electric is going to go up because of deregulation.
I'm fed up with this and wondering if there are alternatives. Crooks!
