Re: OPEN JERSEY AVENUE TO LIBERTY STATE PARK!!

I believe the City will be moving ahead with the Jersey Avenue
Extension project soon, so there will be both pedestrian and automobile access to Liberty State Park in the not too distant future.

In June 2006, at the Luncheon marking the 20th anniversary of the Newport Community, Harrison LeFrak was standing at a west-facing window in 480 Washington Boulevard overlooking Newport Centre Mall.

He spoke of a plan to take the 1st floor of the Newport Centre Mall Garage and convert it to retail with storefronts opening on Marin Boulevard to connect the Hamilton Park neighborhood to the Newport waterfront.

Clearly, this has not yet happened - but he recognized that Newport is a Jersey City neighborhood that should be connected in a welcoming way to the neighborhoods to the West.

The City is not delaying this project, it's the Port Authority. The Cordish Companies will develop the Powerhouse as soon as they gain ownership of the property. They've been waiting YEARS!

Re: McGinley Square Revitalization - Will anything ever happen?

One last post before I leave the country for a couple of weeks.

I live (and own) at The Beacon and love my condo as well as the community we're situated in.

The idea that, in any way, it is a failed project is simply not true. As soon as the Mercury's 126 rental units were complete last year, new residents poured in. The 157 units at the "Orpheum" are nearing completion and I'm certain will rent out in record time. The Paramount's 231 units are also under construction and, subsequently the "Tower" (East Hall) will be developed with 120 rental units. The 800-car multilevel garage should be ready before the summer. In what way is this a failed project?

There's a couple of hundred million dollars of development going on at The Beacon right now - this is McGinley Square.

The new Saint Peter's University Student Center is a great new amenity for McGinley Square.

The Jersey City Housing Authority's redevelopment of Montgomery Gardens will be a major change in the feel of McGinley Square.

Why do people say that nothing is happening?

I have the cell phone numbers of many city employees and they have mine. He didn't need to buy it or get in in some nefarious way, he has it. Steve Fulop calls on my cell phone as well. This is 2013, not 1989.

The Mayor called me in December and it was NOT intimidating. It was a friendly conversation. He called from the campaign office, which was proper. The call was made to my cell phone - so it was a private conversation, as it should be.

Basil was great with me. It did take a few days to connect. He met me at my new condo. We walked through and I told him what I needed done. A couple of days later there was an estimate emailed to me (he's not cheap). I said yes. He came to the condo I was living in and picked up the keys to the new apartment. I wanted to give him some money - he said he didn't need any funds until the job was complete. There were insurance issues with the condo association. He took care of them for me. I only stopped by once to give him the paint colors I had chosen (he refused to choose them for me) and to clarify where I wanted 2 chandeliers hung. 3 week later he called to say he was done. I drove over and the work was perfect. He came to my office a couple of days later for payment. It is now 9 months later and I am completely satisfied with the amazing quality of his work.

I am not a real estate agent, I have no investment in the building. I am always amazed by people on JCList making absolute statements about things that they know nothing about. You are clearly questioning the very existence of a Buon Italia lease. Yes, there is a signed lease and a certification into the Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) program (which can only be accomplished with a signed lease in place).

Trump Plaza is nearly sold out - 4 of the 443 units are available to buy now and the last 14 will be available in February. I've spoken to residents there and they love it. The amenities floor is great, the pool is beautiful. The original plans had the washer/dryer installed in the kitchen but many of the units were modified with the washer/dryers installed in closets. And, again, as I said earlier this week, the Buon Italia lease is still in place and construction should begin soon. The space is NOT available for lease.

The deal for Buon Italia is still in place. I don't know why construction is still delayed. The space is not back on the market.

I met Mark Rodrick in 1997, long before he joined the JC Museum Board. He's been spending many hours a week, as a volunteer, for the last 4 years insuring the survival of the Museum and it's collection. In 2006, the Museum published a book - "FIRST LOOK, The Essential Guilde to Jersey City Museum" which catalogues most of the holdings. I bought several copies and have 1 in front of me now. Mark is working on having the entire collection photographed and digitized. The building is now owned by LibertyHealth (Jersey City Medical Center). LibertyHealth controls programming in the auditorium and is open to its use by community groups. It has been used a great deal. I attended 3 events there in 2012. Long term, we need a great new facility in an easily-accessible location to house the Jersey City Museum and I believe we'll accomplish this - but it will take time. For now, Mark is a hero in my eyes.

The new residential towers about to go up at Harborside & 99 Hudson & 70 & 90 Columbus are expensive and well-designed and will incorporate some great retail and hotel rooms.

Definitely NOT "Fast & Cheap"!

That is the problem of calling 911 from a cell phone. The call is seen as located at the cell tower through which it is routed, not the actual location of the phone.
