ah cute JCPD figured out how to use drupal.

Actually for all I know it might of been drupal before with just another theme. Guess I'm a bad citizen for never going to it before.

I get them off and on, mostly in the summer and sometimes in the fall. I always figured they came from the drain.

The best trap I found for them is a small dish or cup with red vinegar and a little dish soap on top, put saran wrap over it and poke a few holes in it. They are totally attracted to it and will crawl in, can't get out, and die.

Also make sure your sink drain is clean, try pouring some boiling water and some bleach down it.

Well for selling their art on the street I assumed they were more starving than world renowned artists. How exactly do artists price their work anyways, I mean when you are selling your paintings under a tarp and not in a gallery I assumed that would make the pricing more humble.

I would actually buy art in Jersey City but the "artists" here at Grove think their stuff is worth $600-700 or more. It may be cheaper to live here but they still charge Manhattan prices. I'll stick to Etsy.

yup that block is being blown out of proportion. I have lived on Wayne and Grove for 2 years now and walk past whatever war zone you guys are describing to grab beer at night and bagels during the day and have never experienced or seen/heard anything going down. Granted the news doesn't lie about some isolated events, but I wouldn't say it's a common occurrence.

As previously mentioned, just watch yourself like one would at any city at night....I figure worst case I could always use a beer bottle as a weapon.

yeah, from the way you describe it..kinda sounds like your friend was walking, no words were said, and some dude randomly threw a punch at him as they passed on the sidewalk, your friend dodged it and just kept walking?

that's one odd situation.

I'm all for drowning out this guy's tv.

Yeah I had the same experience as bodhipooh yesterday.
Got to Grove station around 9:45am and waiting until 10:20ish for a train. When I first got in I figured I could handle a 10 minute delay so I stuck around, but then they kept increasing the delay. If I knew it was going to be 35 mins or so, I would of never went to the PATH station in the first place and worked from home. Luckily it seemed like most commuters were still on vacation so the cars weren't overcrowded. If this would of been a regular work week, it would of been a bad scene.

Speak of the devil, just got a PATH Alert at 10:51am..."Due to a signal problem, train service on the Newark to World Trade Center line is operating with a 15 minute delay" :)

yup, technically you're right on that one. The Daily Show records interlaced for example.

Width : 1 920 pixels
Height : 1 080 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 16:9
Frame rate : 29.970 fps
Scan type : Interlaced

Hah and I will give credit to marybarr, it looks like Comcast selectively broadcast some channels in 720p, Breakout Kings on A&E and Archer on FX is 1280x720..doh!

Width : 1 280 pixels
Height : 720 pixels

How do you figure that Comcast only broadcasts in 720P? My Windows Media Center gets full 1080p broadcasts and recordings on a CableCard from Comcast just fine. I've had FIOS in JC before and I didn't notice any noticeable change in picture quality or sound through my 52" 1080P LCD and 5.1 surround setup. I basically bailed on Comcast earlier and went to FIOS cause their HD lineup sucked. But when I moved I switched back to Comcast. Funny thing is since Comcast has expanded their HD channel lineup I actually get more HD channels that I like that FIOS doesn't have. Like IFC HD, Cartoon Network HD, G4HD, E!HD.

The only thing I will say that is better with FIOS was their internet package. Not because of speed necessarily but the bandwidth cap. Comcast caps you at 250gigs a month where with FIOS there was no cap.

My GF and I had a great time on the tour. It was the first time we actually rode our folding bikes for more than few miles. The weather was perfect and the pace of the tour I thought was great. I'm hoping there's some more events similar to this in the future, or at least as previously mentioned even smaller scale type tours. It figures the only picture that I am in on NJ.Com is us walking our bikes up the hill. Yeah I know..epic fail. Big props to BikeJC for putting this together.

Here's a camera phone pic before the start.

I don't think it is out of the question to get a rebate for heat, I got a rebate after a management company in NYC didn't fix the heat for months. Heat isn't something the landlord can just skip out on for a tenant cause it doesn't fit the landlord's budget.

You could probably be in Harrison for $700ish and walkable distance to the PATH.

I lived there for a year, it's kinda weird there but not too bad.
As far as living in downtown JC for $700, yeah sorry, I pay over twice that much for a 1 BR.

You could just try craigslist north jersey listings, you might find a place around JC.

In your lease it will state if it is renewed automatically, if not it goes month to month. But unless you signed your lease mid month, I think you're beat.

If he entered your apartment without you there that gives you some definite leverage. They are supposed to give "reasonable" notice about it if you're gonna be home or not though either way.

And the music I doubt will be any louder than my heating pipes when they turn on.

Also why does that person assume most people have small children. Cause, I don't or plan to anytime soon, unless a mistake happens...

Hehe yeah, the new trains do have a slight crap smell to them. But that's definitely a different smell from the rotten eggs smell from WTC to Exchange. The combo smell of both is pretty awesome.

I've noticed it, too. This time of year, I suspect it has to do condensation/mildew in the air conditioning system.

I've only noticed it on the WTC trains (new and old), and wonder if maybe that tunnel runs parallel to a sewer line.

just saw Predators at the Secaucus theater, they have nice big leather seats.

the new Hoboken theater is nice also, just wish these better theaters were easier to get to for people who have to rely on public transportation

I think the sound system in the Newport theater really sucks more than the people, the Hoboken one blows it away.

I don't really give a shit about being green. I only ride for purely recreational use because it is fun and is good exercise. I don't take my bike on the PATH during weekdays either because I walk to work from downtown. It would be one thing if folding bikes were illegal but apparently they're not. Like I said, people buy em cause they're smaller which means less of an annoyance for people around them. I'm sorry your leg gets poked, but people are also starting to use bags also.
Bikes are only going to become more popular and the subway allows full size bikes on at any time, so it's kinda a reality that has to be dealt with. (like strollers and shopping carts..and fat people)

I never mentioned building a damn bridge either, just let bikes go through the tunnel. I would bike to work if there was that option.

not being able to get a seat just to relax and drink a coffee cause some dude is working on his novel is one of the big reasons I rarely go into starbucks anymore.
